Has been for quite some time now, that in itself may be of importance. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think we missed a cycle?
I heard rumours that the next cycle could be quite nasty because of this. I've not looked into this with enough depth tbh :)

You'll have approx 8 minutes if 'anything' heads towards us from the sun.
The beer in the fridge is cool.

hi,
things might be quiet as far as sun spots etc, but not so quiet in terms of Solar Wind in recent weeks/months.. in fact, Solar particle density has been at record highs... (see other thread on 'Solar Flares on BBC News' for more info if interested in some articles/records).
This morning the Solar Wind was at a major high of +9 protons/cm(3). First time I've seen such a high density! It might all look rather quiet... but really it isn't !

I'm not sure about missing a cycle but I will try to find out, do some surfing
If the global dimming scenario has been cooling us like they say and the sun is quiet right now, then we clean up the air, and then the sun comes back to life things are going to get pretty warm, maybe another 76 or even hotter, that was a hell of a summer, all our public park grasss went completely yellow, but not as hot as other years, I suppose its how hot it gets and how long it lasts.
That global dimming link is below for the people who haven't see it yet,
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2058273530743771382#
and then there is the global warming swindle film and doomsday called off which goes with the sun thing,
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=global+warming&emb=0#
I think once the general public get wind of these films it might make a real diference, maybe, the BBC haven't shown these yet as far as I know ? the buggers ought to.

With the solar winds coming thick and then the sun waking up doesn't sound very good for the ice not melting,
Just been watching a film on Antatctica and the chinese have just set up the WORLDS biggest base there right on top of the highest platue, maybe a little tension in the air,
have U got a link for the solar wind levels ?

hi,
yes, look here for Solar Wind and all Sun montioring info, updated several times daily:
http://www.spaceweather.com/
also see thread on 'Solar Flares on BBC', was in News section a few weeks ago.. lots of info and some good articles.
The SOHO site is good too, though the cams are not always operational, the movie player function is good, especially for LASCO 2 cam.. can see Flares clearly on there!
have fun!
:)
