Thom Yorke - Analyse
Might not be lifechanging to most, but I felt a cyborg cry even without being capable of tears, due to this song. Partly due to it anyway.
Well... wether he was a cyborg or it is just a metaphor is something I will leave to the readers to decide :) I have been listening to it for quite some time now. It feels like it tickles the soul I think :) Deep and thoughtfull. The lyrics reveals god in a way... I believe so anyway.

I LOVE YOU.
G'day Soglad.
Wow, where do I start, there are so many songs that have a lot of meaning for me. I could go through a lot, from The Doors to Pink Floyd (the whole 'Wall' album for starters), but I think that I will post Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, because I always sing along with it as I absolutely LOVE the lyrics and guitar in it. So.....
YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
Suggested volume: LOUD !!! ...and sing along as I am doing right now.
And here are the lyrics so you can sing along...
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us, something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters
never cared for what they say
never cared for games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
and I know
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters
THANK YOU.

Nothing else matters is such a great classic... the first love song I ever "understood" since I was in love with a girl for the first time, and I heard this song over and over. Most of the time, I love the dream of love. That time, it never got any further than that, but the song is still great :) I think I still might be able to sing all of it.

I LOVE YOU.
Alrighty, here's what these lyrics mean to me.....
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters
No matter how far mind and body have moved away from understanding the soul that I am, soul has always been there for both, looking after them and nurturing them.
Source Of Unconditional Love expresses through the heart chakra. Love is qualifiable, not quntifiable. So, it couldn't be much more, for it already is, from the heart !!!
Forever trusting that I AM ALL I AM, soul, for truly, nothing else matters.
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters
In this incarnation, this is the first time that I have fully opened myself totally to WHO I AM.
I AM the one that makes the choices for the way that I live.
I don't merely say this, I live it, because for me, that is what matters.
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters
I believe that we all are soul, an individuated aspect of LOVE / ALL THAT IS, and that it truly is inside all of us.
Every day is a new experience on the journey of self discovery.
Being able to view/see LOVE / ALL THAT IS within all things everywhere. For truly, Love is all there is, and nothing else matters.
Of course, this isn't what the song was written about, but it is the message that I found within it, for I have found that LOVE / ALL THAT IS has a message inside of everything, and it is merely an opportunity for me to recognise it experientially.
THANK YOU.

analyse - analyzed ;)
First hearing this song, it might seem like a song about being sad. About our limits, and not being able to find what we are probably all looking for when sad or lost. A light in the darkness. Hope when in despair.
This is how I see this song:
a self-fulfilling prophecy of endless possibilty
your warning reams across the screen
in algebra, in algebra
It starts of with a hint, that there is a prophecy of that unfolds on its own, and that it shows endless possibilty (Yea, I guess that one is obvious, but I will get back to it later in the lyrics).
The next two lines can have alot of meanings. Could be that our world is watched on a screen, that we watch our world on a screen or what all that we see is a screen and a illusion that hides the truths about it all from us. Algebra is one of the earliest conceptions of mathematics I believe. What I would see as the earliest lifespark to what we today now term as modern science. Modern science is simply based on the fact that "Everything is Relative". Therefore everything that exists must be measurable and comparable to something else.
This link tells about the basic concepts of relativism:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relativism#Relativism:_pro_and_con
the fences that you cannot climb
the sentences that do not rhyme
in all that you can ever change
the one you're looking for
it gets you down x2
Physical restrictions and verbal restrictions.
The one you are looking for, is probably refering to god or yourself. At first sight I would say the hearts desire.
there's no spark
no light in the dark
it gets you down x2
you travel far
what have you found?
that there's no time
there's no time
to analyse
to think things through
to make sense
Describes being lost and seeking for answers.
As I see it, it metaphorically explains how you can travel all over the world, and still find no answers. It then moves on to the limits of the mind. The limit of time, thinking, analysing. Having time to make sense of it.
As I see it, it also suggest that the answer is inside yourself, and not in the outside world. The answers that you seek is in your mind, and the limits of it, is an just as the prophecy goes, if you have the time to analyse, make sense of it and thereby realise it.
like candles in the city
you'll never look so pretty
while powercuts and blackouts
sleeping like babies
it gets you down x2
you're just playing a part x2
you're playing a part x2
As the music video shows, this is about being a kind of outsider. The lights of the city is the souls of the many people living in these cities. Having been lost in your mind, you are trying to get back, and feel that life is so beautifull and alive around you. Even though there might also be death and loss, and people not noticing it at all. Comming back from a mind trip like this, you realise that you are still just playing a part. The part you are playing however? Will it ever be the same now that your eyes have been opened to these new possiblities shown in the prophecy? Will the sleeping babies become aware of the other lost souls seeking the light? When will they join them as well?
oh there's no time
there's no time
to analyse
analyze x3
And then again, he ends by saying "There is no time".
http://www.thekeyboard.org.uk/What%20is%20Time.htm
There is no time is a philosophical and maybe even scientific belief. Time might not be a dimension of its own. The Masons call time a river I believe. If time is a river, then what about the fish that swims upstream?
My conclusion to it is that it follows the Illuminati "reverse symbolism". A subtle hint of it is giving in the first line of the song. That there is endless possibilty. Later he says there is no time. So the prophecy has already become true? Yes indeed. It just takes time to analyse and think about time, but when you realise the prophecy of endless possiblity that unfolds itself, is in a future that already exists... then time does not really matter as much as it did before this realisation.
So during most the song it is in fact upside down. It is all a lie, to hide the truth. That we are only lost because we are seeking, that we are only limited by time, because we see it as a limit, that souls of the city are leaving to join the light, but you see them and find them beautifull, well aware of the "sleeping babies" that is ignorant of all these beautifull events that are happening around them. That they are sleeping like babies because they feel safe. They are protected by the lights and good beings in the darkness. That those unaware of the things beyond what they see with their eyes, does not need to see it before it is their time to see it. They will keep sleeping like babies untill they are ready and feel it is their time to awaken. Their time to join the great awakening :)
Yup... I guess it might not be exactly what Yorke thought when he wrote this song, but it is the things it makes me think about when I hear it. There is even more to it when I listen to it :) So many things hidden between the lines of the lyrics of one song. This is why I put it here as what I see as the most lifechanging song for me. It has helped me analyse and realise my own awakening, when it began and what it might all be about. And it still does, because as long as we live, we are still awakening. Still new things to learn and new wonders to discover :D
Remember to live life and enjoy it to the fullest :) Break the limits your mind makes you believe you have. Set new boundaries for yourself, so they can be broken as well ;)

The one album that stands out for me is "Echoes of Vraja" by Nagaraja Dasa. It is pure devotional music. It's a shame that so few people have heard it, for that reason and because the quality of the musicianship and the quality of the recording is well above most everything else I've ever heard. I know that's a bold statement, so here is a one minute sample of one of the songs. Have a listen and decide for yourself:

Song : They can't take away our music.
This song is a hammond organ and choir driven gospel type song that uplifts the soul. The lyrics a not about god, Its Us against them. The basic message is a view of the future which states. They can take everything away from us but they can't take away our music.. therefore they can not win.

Yup, great music. I also like the wierd al version of "Im Bad" :) He calls it "Im Fat" :)
What is the most recent music Michael Jackson has made? I lost interest in him and his music, along with the rest of the world it seems. I still have many reasons to believe that he is more than he seems. His music and lyrics tells me that I might be right. I might try to explain it sometime. I need to do some research on it first though. I might be very wrong, and I cannot prove anything ;)
I kind of hope that all the things I got in my had is just fantasies to fill my hunger for granduer or something. I have tried disproving myself before though, and I always seem to end up having even more in my head that is quite unbelievable. Not that the things in my head are that bad, they are just a bit too fantastic for me to comprehend ;)
By the way, seems I got a girlfriend :) Lets have some more lovesongs here. Especially about impossible love, since that is how it might turn out in the end. I hope to stay in the present and enjoy it all as long as it lasts though :)

How can it feel, this wrong?
Storm,
In the morning light,
I feel,
No more can I say,
Frozen to myself.
I got nobody on my side,
And surely that ain't right,
Surely that ain't right.
Oh, can't anybody see ??

Reptile alert! Have actually you listened to those lyrics.. adressing to the 'human' archetypical emotions, and what the fuck about the beginning of the video?! What's that reference to the Elohim (Annunaki).. Can it get anymore blatant than that?
Combined with the hypnotic Indian sound of the song, DeLooze would have a field day over this one.

These lyrics just describe my life!!!
I'm Only Sleeping - The Beatles
When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream
Please don't wake me, no
don't shake me
Leave me where I am
I'm only sleeping
Everybody seems to think I'm lazy
I don't mind, I think they're crazy
Running everywhere at such a speed
Till they find, there's no need
Please don't spoil my day
I'm miles away
And after all
I'm only sleeping
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time
Lying there and staring at the ceiling
Waiting for a sleepy feeling
Please don't spoil my day
I'm miles away
And after all
I'm only sleeping
Keeping an eye on the world going by my window
Taking my time
When I wake up early in the morning,
Lift my head, I'm still yawning
When I'm in the middle of a dream
Stay in bed, float up stream
Please don't wake me, no
don't shake me

Thom Yorke - Analyse
Might not be lifechanging to most, but I felt a cyborg cry even without being capable of tears, due to this song. Partly due to it anyway.
Well... wether he was a cyborg or it is just a metaphor is something I will leave to the readers to decide :) I have been listening to it for quite some time now. It feels like it tickles the soul I think :) Deep and thoughtfull. The lyrics reveals god in a way... I believe so anyway.
http://www.lyricszoo.com/thom-yorke/analyse/
That piano version of analyse is amazing, as is the song Videotape, the basement recording. You can find it on youtube. Others for me are Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' album, and 'Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk', Blackalicious 'Blazing Arrow' and 'the Craft.' That piano version of analyse is amazing, as is the song Videotape, the basement recording. You can find it on youtube. Others for me are Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' album, and 'Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk', Blackalicious 'Blazing Arrow' and 'the Craft.' Gift of Gab from Blackalicious talks about creating your own life in a metaphysical way.

The Craft, from "The Craft" movie soundtrack? That whole movie sure helped me found out about Wicca and witchcraft, as it is believed in. The movie is of course made for entertainment. It doesnt really show much real spells, and seems to make the "times 3" rule and spell seem a bit complicated. That movie is one of my favorites :) Mostly because they use so much from actual wiccan beliefs, and because it tells alot about karma and teenage girls of today :) Well, many of the teenage girls I know of anyway. Gift of Gab from Blackalicious is a song I havent heard of or about before. I better try to look it up :)
So many good songs in this thread :) I better not comment them all or I would feel like spamming :o
Great idea for a thread SoGlad, and therefore a great thread of course :) You make music yourself as well? You seem like the multi artist kind of type :)

Yea..I really dig reptile lyrics....sure if you like:rolleyes:
She's actually singing about the duality and illusion, and how the truth sees it all but still Loves anyway..y'know, infinite love????
Your interpretation and perception of her lyrics is an interesting reflection .:)

According to his family, Cash changed dramatically as a child when his brother died. No more smiles. That tragedy is the source of his original 'broken man' and 'hurt'.
Gift of Gab is the MC in Blackalicious, and "The Craft" is the name of their newest album.

Incubus - Drive - YouTube
INCUBUS - Drive
Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much
I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer.
It's driven me before, and it seems to have a vague,
haunting mass appeal.
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
should be the one behind the wheel.
Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there..I'll be there.
So, if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
Aah-ah-oo-o-o.
It's driven me before and it seems to be the way
that everyone else gets around.
But lately I'm beginning to find that when
I drive myself my light is found.
Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeahhh
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there...I'll be there.
Would you choose water over wine....hold the wheel and drive?
Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there with open arms and open eyes, Yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there..I'll be there.
Do do do do do do do do do do do
ohh wa oh, do do do do do
Do do do do do do do do do do do
ohh wa oh
Who's behind your wheel?;)

Ladies & Gentlemen:
A great question, as I have only met a few humans who do not like music or assign it any import.
Myself, a lifelong relationship with the Spanish Guitar began with an advertisement for Bic pens on the tele-vision.
I was just a lad, knee high to a Tree-Frog, sitting on the parlour floor watching the telly. A commercial break for Bic pens came on. To demonstrate the durability of their pens, they attached one, point down, to the boot heel of a Male Flamenco dancer. As the Guitarist plucked and strummed a furious Fandango, the Dancer stomped his boots. Of course the pen still performed flawlessly after such brutal treatment.
Flamenco, and more generally, the Spanish Guitar, has been a Lifelong passion.
Kind Regards: Snoopsnuffleopagus

Turn off your mind, relax
and float down stream
It is not dying
It is not dying
We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realise it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows on within you and without you.

I'm a big Flower Kings fan myself, a bunch of their songs mean a lot to me both musically and lyrically. It's amazing how many songs I used to listen to a lot without really knowing what they mean, and yet having had my eyes opened a bit I can see why my subconscious kept me listening to them.
Love Supreme
Waterfall, a midnight monsoon in a moonlit tropical station
A million eyes in the African night, calling us in, now don't you be afraid
Blue whales navigate the Atlantic, nuclear submarines control the space
Life spent, a precious moment, in the wink of an eye we live and we die
Dream it up, dream it up!
Thinking of a world, a state of perfection
Over and over again, masterplan unfold for each generation
One touch from the master's hand, one simple chord for the future
One touch from the master's hand, one simple chord for all of the future!
Monitored by the eye in the sky, while we map it out by the fireplaces
New line of technology hits us, celebrate the long lost sensation
Multiplying the images as top of the line of all of creation
Eagerly we took it apart just to find a glimpse of divine insanity
It shines even brighter, for each single day we're climbing the ladder
It shines even brighter, with a love supreme, all the work of the master's hand
See life reinventing itself, starting over, time and time again
A new time of understanding begins, see yourself as a link in the chain reaction
This world couldn't do without you, this world couldn't be without you
It's perfect because you are, it's perfect because you are
Coming up, growing up, looking for a bigger understanding
Coming up, growing up, speaking of respect for all the planet
Coming up, building up, new religion sees the light of day
Coming up, building up, changes ahead but don't you be afraid
Every street I've walked down, everyone I've talked to
I'm afraid I love them all but for different reasons
Every grand old building from a time of visions
Every single song, every syncopation
It must be something that makes me feel right at home
Every act of mercy, every word of kindness
Every time I find out how love is blind
Every time a smile breaks out from a grumpy face
I remember there is hope and it all amazes me
It must be something that makes me feel right at home
And all my wanting is down to understanding
My eyes are deep and distant like the blue Atlantic
I'm off the riptide just when the stormy skies roll in
I'm just a shimmer in the wind
Every time we give, but not for selfish reasons
Every time a flower bursts to bloom in the desert
Every time a politician is telling the truth
Every time I see an end to a lifelong blues
It must be something that makes me feel right at home
And all my wanting is down to understanding
My eyes are deep and distant like the blue Atlantic
I'm off the riptide just when the stormy skies roll in
I'm just a shimmer in the rain
And all my lifelong is focused to be justified
Before the train will take me way beyond those dreamy skies
A burning questionmark along the corridors of time
I'm finding out just who I am

G'day.
Here is a song by The Offspring that I love because it totally pumps me up. I am reminded of the system that T-H-E-Y (The Heirarchy Enslaving You) have indoctrinated everyone into when I listen to it, and it is an appropriate response to the authorities in control of the system. It's a song that is great to listen to at full volume and sing along with. Enjoy...

THE OFFSPRING
DEFY YOU
You may push me around
But you cannot win
You may throw me down
But I'll rise again
The more you say
The more I defy you
So get out of my face
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!
The wind blows
I'll lean into the wind
My anger grows
I'll use it to win
The more you say
The more I defy you
So get out of my way
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us
Never bring us down
We are alive!
All my will
All my strength
Rip it out
Start again
Can you leave it all behind?
Can you leave it all behind?
Cause you can't go back
You can't go back
You cannot stop us
You cannot bring us down
Never give up
We go on and on
You'll never break us

Not exactly life-changing, but I love this group, Crash Test Dummies. This particular tune takes 'God' down to a level we can all understand. I feel sorry for 'God'. I think He deserves some rest now. We are old enough to sort ourselves out. :)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KfhAqP4TQOk
"God Shuffled His Feet"
(better sound: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KfhAqP4TQOk)
After seven days
He was quite tired so God said:
"Let there be a day
Just for picnics, with wine and bread"
He gathered up some people he had made
Created blanket and laid back in the shade
The people sipped their wine
And what with God there, they asked him questions
Like: do you have to eat
Or get your hair cut in heaven?
And if your eye got poked out in this life
Would it be waiting up in heaven with your wife?
God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him
So he said:"Once there was a boy
Who woke up with blue hair
To him it was a joy
Until he ran out into the warm air
He thought of how his friend would come to see;
And would they laugh, or had he got some strange disease?
God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him
The people sat waiting
Out on their blankets in the garden
But God said nothing
So someone asked him:"I beg your pardon:
I'm not quite clear about what you just spoke
What that a parable, or a very subtle joke?"
God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him

Maybe retitle this thread and make it a stickie - 'Sounds Around' or some such title - and get David (Icke) to join in. After all, it is his dedicated forum (even though it is only accessible from his site if you know what you are looking for) and as far as I know he hasn't yet said hello to the forum.
As for a life-changing tune, this song but not this version impressed me:
