I don't know if this is real, but if so, I think it is creepy.

http://www.thisman.org/

Apparently, there are a couple thousand known cases of people, worldwide, who have had recurring dreams about "This Man".

I thought that the way this was discovered was kind of sketchy; but when things are meant to be known/uncovered - it can happen that way.

Here is his composite picture:

http://www.thisman.org/thisman_small.jpg

There about five theories on what this phenomena is about; including this one which I found the most interesting:

DREAM SURFER THEORY
It is the most interesting theory and the one that has the greatest implications, but it has also the lowest scientific credibility. According to this theory this man is a real person, who can enter people's dreams by means of specific psychological skills. Some believe that in real life this man looks like the man in the dreams. Others think that the man in the dreams looks completely different from his real life counterpart. Some people seem to believe that behind this man there is a mental conditioning plan developed by a major corporation.

I was listening to coast to coast am talk radio last night and they talked a little bit about this. One caller said that she had seen him in meditation and she said her feeling was that he is evil and she didn't want anything to do with him or what he said.

Has anyone seen him?

I'm glad that I haven't! :p

The whole thing has a made up feel to it.

Somebody thought it would be a good idea to create a website based around a realistic Freddy Krueger-type dream figure, and then promote it.

Every tenth person who hears about it and goes to the site will now claim to have have already dreamed about 'this man', and once others have seen it, some of them actually will in the future now dream about 'this dickhead'.

Gosh, I hope not. Haha.

I do like the idea of it being Mr. R.A. - just promoting his movie and merchandise.

I had this experience alot when i was young. Havent had it for years though.

oh man. I've never dreamed about this guy - I have 'seen' him as a vision or entity that spent years behind me. One day I told him to go and he left.

My head is swimming right now.

One difference though, the brows were not as thick.

I'm f$ck*ng creeped out now.

I don't exactly recall dreaming of him but the face gave me the horridest of chills - I think it maybe has been drawn in such a way that it scares people. It's definitely one of those "now where have I seen this guy" faces.

We all have dreams of scary faces though right?

Maybe there is an experiment being done while people sleep. What if the picture of this person's face was planted in the minds of many while they were sleeping and that is why so many recognize it .Just think what other information could be planted in your mind while you sleep, when your mind is unaware and vulnerable.... ewwww, mind control!

I saw something about this one TV (I know, I know) I'm sure, for some reason I'm hearing Charlie Brooker talking about it but I could be wrong there, anyway, the gist was this is fake, set up by some market research/weird psychological experimenting people to see if they could get people to dream about something specific.

Imagine if this was a social experiment? I think a similar poster had a similar notion but I will attempt to explain what I think are the mechanics and reasoning of such a process.

By claiming many people have dreamt about something, you are basically giving an idea instant social proof. Social proof, is basically the notion that something believed/accepted a majority has meaning or worth.

Mob mentality basically.

If information is passed on via memetics. And this 'man-in-dream' is metaphorically the equivalent of a seed. The social-proofing of it, is the fertilizer to make that meme/idea 'grow'.

Still with me?

Yeah, by setting up the premise that many people are dreaming about this man, your mind is susceptible to entertaining and exploring the image in your subconcious/unconcious mind when sleeping.

It's like corporate brands too and the repetition of certain geometric shapes. It could be conceived that in understanding the meaning of symbology, we ironically open our mind to retaining the information the symbology represents - more so than the average Joe giving it little thought. Separate theory though that said.

For example - many on the Icke boards seeing a triangle in a logo may perceive some covert means of implanting an all-seeing eye/masonic pyramid into peoples minds. They'll be less willing to accept it as innocent because the notion that symbols are used in an evil, covert way to transfer information has been given social proof.

Imagine if this was a social experiment?

It has been so long since I started this thread..... but someone (pages back) - Size of Light - I think... pointed out that the website for this was some time of marketing website.

So yes, it does appear to be some type of experiement (or hoax).

I thought it was hinky to begin with, but it turned out to be a fun thread anyhoo.

I read the website and I thought it would make a cool movie. Then I read the information on what the film would be about and it's crap! I could come up with a better storyline. I was expecting something eerie and creepy. It sounds like a Ricky Gervais film or something.
