Devastating floods similar to the ones which swamped England last month, leaving thousands homeless, will become more common over the next few decades, Met Office scientists warn.
They claim rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are making plants "less thirsty" and unable to soak up rainwater after a heavy downpour.

I'm still to be convinced that this is all weather manipulation. After the summer floods the weather has been settled and relatively cool. If this was weather manipulation I would have expected a major August heat wave which would have gone from one extreme to another. I am 27 and this summer has actually remined me of my summer holidays in Norfolk, The south coast, devon etc, as a young kid........it was cold, wet and windy with a few days warm enough to dip in the sea and the odd week of heat. Those years were also marked by cold winters, ice and that rare thing called snow. If you look at the latest long range weather forecasts, you will see that winter is predicted to come significantly earlier in Scandanavia this year. The weather is naturally cyclic, and it may be that we have moved from a hot 15 year cycle and are now moving into a cooler one. By the way, I beleive it was warmer than it is now during a golden period in the Middle ages. There has been no mention of this summer being BELOW AVERAGE!!!!!
