"BIOSHOCK" the Xbox game...

Ok I got an xbox 360 a couple months ago as i could not resist...

I have been playing a new game called "Bioshock" and it is a great game it has to be said.... (if you can call being addicted to a computer game great) ..

but I think in computer games now you are getting just as much symbols as in movies... with story lines and just general stuff...

in this game I have to say there is creepy thing regarding young girls... you are basically a man stuck in an under water city created by a mad man who fucked with everyone and made them need "Adom" which is a juice you inject and it gives you all sorts of powers, you also can pick up Eve which fuels the adom... the way to get this "Adom" is kill these little girls who are meant to be possessed by something evil even though they are helpless and need these big men in metal underwater suits to protect them.... they make the girls really cute with hair in bows and pink dress.... and calling there protectors Mr Bubbles.....

you are given the option to save the girls after being given this potion to do so... or to "harvest" (kill) them....

the whole game is quite creepy and dark and probably has loads of symbols in there....

thought it was worth a mention if anyone else plays it.... great game but did not like killing the girls :) ... although after a while you are given the choice to save them so you feel better :)

It gets kinda boring after a while. There hasn't been a big leap in FPS for a while. Lets see what Halo 3 can do.
I agree with you about the symbolism in games, theres a whole new area to do reasearch in.

i have to say the quote about the founder of rapture andrew ryan about the entitlement of a mans sweat on his brow was realy well said and thought up

it also is packed up with references to Orwell

plus an underground city where there is civil war by genetic modification named ADAM and its energy EVE is highly symbolic of both Atlantis and the hole adam and eve thing of them making us humans (Adams-males Eve-females)

cant wait for halo 3 have been a fanboy since the first wow btw one of mt fav and best voted game on 360 is oblivion that game is brill reptile humanoids n all you get the chance to even be part of a cult called the dark brotherhood or be a mage and guard and protect the people of the world while fighting of evil brotherhoods who i should mention want to summon demons known as daedra from another dimension

I was just about to ask about this game, had my 360 since launch, still playing PGR3 (Project Gotham Racing)!:D

The harvesting of the girls seems a bit nasty, this bothers me:(. But I may still get it as overall it does look good, story etc:)

Thirdwave, do you have a HD screen and 5.1 sound?

Yep, many of the new games are great at refering to possible secrets and symbolism :) Some of them are not even doing it discreetly. I really love the Broken Sword series. Not that they are based alot on truth, but still alot of good info in that series. I am still trying to solve number 4 in the serie :) All of them are great in my opinion.

I like the new FPS games where you get to use mental powers as well :D Like telekinesis, mind control and so on. PsiOps really had me going :D I ran through that game in a couple of weeks of instense gaming. Great fun. I might even try it again, but now there are comming games with this kind of combat in multiplayer as well :)

Then there are the games like DeusEx. I find them a great mix of FPS and RPG, with a very good story behind them as well. I do believe they are using quite alot of symbolism as well.

ahh its ok get the game, but I will tell you in advance you dont have to kill them to get the adom as you get it anyway ...just through rewards for saving the girls, if you like those kind of games it is very well done.. very dark.

I just have a normal wide screen TV with surround 3.1 built in in my room... but my bro has a huge HD TV and i have played it through there a couple times... some of the graphics are amazing... like watching real human skin ...and the water is amazing..

Yeah I quite liked Halo.... and Oblivion looks good... I don't really watch TV anymore so games are more fun and like I say, some of them have quite allot of depth to them nowadays... there is also a game coming out soon called "Mass Effect" which looks great, you can surf around the universe as you wish...so on....

I'm on my second run through this game, I think its awesome. The symbolism in it is more on 'our' side so to speak, the creators of the game are 'good guys'.

I've harvested one little sister on the first way through and I havn't got the heart or desire to ever harvest another :D
