Hmm, I might read that book. Looks good. His synopsis remids me of a brilliant film I saw caled "The Hunt for CM-24". It's a German film about a scientist who invents a cancer cure and the agents of Big Pharma try to shut it down so they won't go out of business. Disease is not only "owned" it is a marketplace for investment. There's another great American writer who writes books on these subjects, Robin Cook, the same name as the assassinated cabinet minister. His most famous book is "Coma".

Nice interview I have to say I am a big fan of his, he talks a great deal of sense and he is spot on regarding science, consensus science is no science at all.
People like Dawkins who hold to the mainstream dogma are there to reign the mavericks in.
The Crichton book I enjoyed most was Timeline because I am am interested in the physics of Time travel.
If I may I would like to post the link to this film which discusses that subject:

It is based on current theories.

The distinction between past, present, and future is
only an illusion, however persistent. Time is not at
all what it seems. It does not flow in only one direction,
and the future exist simultaneously with the past.

Yes, I admire Crichton for that. I'm impressed that so far he has resisted the pressure of corruption that attacks every famous and materially successful person. Good for him. Keep it up, Mike!
