Is being sued for brainwashing and groping
Self help guru Dr Phil McGraw is being taken to court by a woman who claims he falsely imprisoned her and touched her inappropriately when she sought treatment from him in 2007.
In a court filing, Shirley Rae Dieu claims her psychiatric treatment involved being "forced to be in the same room with a completely live naked man while he exposed his entire naked body, genitals and all."
The 56-year-old accuses Dr Phil of holding her captive and depriving her of sleep, food and water while he "brainwashed" her with "edited tapings depicting her as a different personality other than her own." She also accuses him of touching her left breast during a therapy session.
"[Dr. Phil] is nothing like what he's like on TV," Dieu told People magazine, adding that another woman will be joining the suit. "You have no idea what I and this other woman went through."
Dieu is acting as her own attorney and her court papers are riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. It's unclear how much she is seeking in damages.
