Good question. I've wondered myself to what extent (if any) mind control plays in the business.
Plenty of male and female actresses from the industry have died accidental deaths or committed suicide. Probably most of those are the result of the kinds of lifestyles they've led, but you never know.
70s and 80s porn legend Marilyn Chambers died recently of a heart attack aged in her mid-fifties.
The thought did cross my mind that maybe she was popular with the elite at private parties back in the day and knew too much. And when she reached her expiry date, they 'expired' her.
Re: favourites, in no particular order and just off the top of my head I'm gonna go: Summer Cummings, Jada Fire, Lily Thai, Marcella Jade, Nikki Knights, Angel Kelly, Dolly Buster, Aurora Snow, Annette Allen, Marilyn Chambers, Kitten Natividad, Kia, Dominique Simone, Nina Hartley, Sharon Kane, Belladonna...the list goes on.
Not that I've ever seen any of their movies or given this any prior thought, mind you.

Still, i presume most of their suicides are indeed caused by their lifestyle and the mental baggage they carry.

I remember Haley Page was killed at the young age of 25. Can't remember why, think it was a mob conspiracy of some sort. Last time I heard the case was still open.

Most of these "performers" are on drugs like coke or anti-depressants. They're exploited and used by all and they rarely go on to live happy lives.
A lot have also suffered some kind of sexual assualt. All in all, a very sordid business.

Why asume it's negative without knowing her story though?
Brigitte Lahaie is fine today...you should read up on her.
She has her own blog and radio show and she's not ashamed of her past.
And she made some of the greatest erotic films of all time.
All this ill-informed sanctimonious crap about every female being a 'victim' offends me for one reason and one reason only: it's just plain wrong!

Fair enough there might be women who are ok with making this there
career choice. But what about the women who are manipulated into this lifestyle??
