Hi,

The reference is to the 'Song of Ascents, of David'.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron’s beard, Coming down upon the edge of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever.

It draws from the 133rd Psalm and is an invocation of Brotherly Love; one of the key tenets of Freemasonry.

Hope this helps.

Do you know if there are any symbolic nods to "Aaron's rod" in Freemasonry?

Not in the Blue Lodge (Craft Freemasonry).

It does however make an appearance in the ritual of the 'Side' Orders of Freemasonry.

the name "Aaron" is significant because it was the name of Moses brother. i am not suggesting that moses was a Freemason nor am i suggesting that there is any real connection between moses/Aaron and freemasonry, other than the religious link i.e. moses was a prophet of god and Freemasons believe in a higher power.
