They are using dogs as shark bate for the sick amusement of tourists.I got this from an animal welfare site.
Don't buy anything from France until it is stopped.

That's sick and horrible, but it's also very irresponsible because it gets sharks to associate humans with food, which is dangerous to humans in the long run.

through the the lip? the dog thrashing about would rip it out, now if i was going to do that, seeing as i would be a cruel bastard if i did, i'd stick the hook through the back of it's neck, can't get loose, and plenty of blood to chum for sharks.

I just did search (I refuse to use google as a verb) on dogs shark bait and found several sites stating that dogs and cats are/were being used as such but it might have been only one man doing it. This story is about 2 years old. The RSPCA officially petitioned the French government. ONE man was convicted, apparently, and I didn't see any references to any other incidents.

I dunno, it looks like the dog's eyes are shapeshifting slightly reptilian if you look close. I think you should add it to your reptilian collection. That's why the hook held through the lip - reptilians have strong, scaly, leathery lips.

I think I've made my case for this and expect to see the photo added.

I would't call it sick. It would be the most efficient way to do it. That's not sick that's the reality of efficiently attaching a dog to a large hook for shark bait. Simple as that. ;)

But yeah it's fucking sick that people actually do this! If it's true.
