I've been playing around with these pictures from mars.

In the region of mars called Cydonia, there is that infamous face on mars, that we got in the 1970's. When hi-rez images came back of the face, it showed it to be half a face. Still when the image is mirrored, it produces what looks like a bear and a face.

Anyway, this process got me thinking - so I applied the mirror technique to an area that has always looked like a cats face, near the infamous face of mars.

Here's the original area:

and heres the first mirror effect

and the second:

Interestingly cat like, I thought.

Anway, I thought I'd try it out on another head image from mars (no prizes for spotting the head!) :

Next, we flip 1/2 the head (looks like Hanibal Lector, to me)

Then....the other half:

^the above image chucks up some interesting stuff: First the head itself looks....somewhat er, evil?

Then, under the head, there appears to be a figure reaching up to the head, as if in worship:

Head and figure:

Next, we turn the image 90 degrees to the left:

Save the above image and zoom in and out (or take a step back from the screen, there's a few 1/2 faces that pop out, heres one:

Here's another:

And finally, the image is returned to its original orientation, cut down the middle, and mirrored:

Lots of interesting imagery going on there!

Agai, you sometimes need to take a step back from the screen to get a better view of what I'm talking about!

Here's a few:

Worried looking alien:

Reaching out figure when the image is flipped:

The effect is quite interesting - i know you can make all sorts of ink blot images with all sorts of shapes, but there seems to be some much repition of faces here.

2 more from the above:

Well, thats what I mean by in blot effect - however, it seems to really only work in this area - on other areas of mars, I can't replicate the effect, or the effect isn't visible.

The first couple of black and white images are mirroring of a very obvious head - the rest are open to interpretation.

Now, wheres my knife.....:D
