see when you meet someone from the war(ish) generation that just can't get over his conditioned belief that America/UK are the heroes that defeated Hitler and since have always been valiantly fighting the forces of evil since, here's what to tell them

A History Lesson For The Right Wing by Revolutionary Jam

The US funded the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan to go against the Russians. They later became the Taleban and the core of Al-Quaeda.

The west brought Saddam Huessein power in Iraq and supported him and sold him chemicals weapons through his worst atrocities such as gassing the Kurds.

Iran had a popular democratically elected leader named Mohammed Mosaddeq who was overthrown by Mi6 and the CIA in 1953 during Operation Ajax because he wished to nationalise Iranian oil for the benefit of his people.

US leaders have long professed a dedication to democracy, yet over the last 50 years they have dedicated themselves to overthrowing democratically elected governments in:
Guatamala, Giana, The Dominican Republic, Brazil, Chilie, Uraguay, Syria, Indonesia, Greece (twice), Argentina (twice), Haiiti (twice), Bolivia, Jamaica, Ugoslavia

These countries were all guilty of pursueing policies that occasionally favoured the poor elements and infringed upon the more affluent. In most instances the US-sponsered coups were accompanied by large scale killings of democratic activists.

Not to mention attempts to overthrow socialist revolutionary governments who threw off the chains of opression in Cuba, Angola, Mozambiq, Ethiopia, Iraq - ushering Saddam Hussein, Portugal, South Yemen, Nicaragua, Cambodia, East Hymore, Western Sahara, and other nations.

Now you want me to believe that we're invading Iraq and Afghanistan to Restore Freedom?
