Not sure where in the world you are but in Scotland tips need to be declared by the owner and they are taxed. Very few people adhere to it though and quite rightly so, I was a waitress and I earned more in tips than I did in my wage packet, and I wouldn't have been able to make ends meet without them. They have been trying to outlaw tips for a long time.

yeah but why ? i don't agree i work on markets and cash is king once they get rid of cash they can know what you earn and what you spend down to the last penny most people i know don't declare all what they earn. if they did they would be working just to make ends meet and that's what they want

You don't agree with what? I was agreeing with you lol. I said that very few people adhere to the existing law and that was quite right.

i found the way some business's used tips to make up wages appaulling. The owner gets his money from, say the food he sells, but the paying customer then has to fork out again to pay his staff through tips. The waiter/ress has to rely on tips for their wages. The only winner is the owner as far as I can see.

Make these owners pay decent wages full stop.

I dont blame anyone who puts abit aside. All wages are spent on 'life essentials' yet these big companies seem to be making multi billion pound profits every year. That just shows how much we are being robbed.

May it come back on them. Bastards.

No-one's banning tips! The only ban is on the employer taking them to make up an employee's wage packet. The employees will in future get the full minimum wage plus any tips they can make so they will in effect be getting a wage increase. That's what the employers are screaming about. People will still tip good service so it's nothing to do with a cashless society.
