Yes it is funny but pathetic at the same time. He seems a decent guy. He looked taken aback when asked "Why not just use a card"? Why not indeed.
I see more and more what is known as dumbing down of the population. Notice when he pays using the i-pod there is very little eye contact with the staff because all the attention is on that little piece of microwave wave junk.
