As im sure most of you will be aware of the meier case i wont go into any indepth analysis about him & "his contacts", rather i would like to
share with everyone a possible theory on how the beamship sounds were created.

Link below is a youtube video of the original meier beam ship sounds:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saamEB0SNJU

(if you notice around the 3 second mark in the video above you can hear an obvious sound that has a delay loop, like a sound being repeated on itself, being a musician i picked up on this straight away as im always using delay units in the studio & know the characteristics they produce)

listening to the beamship material always fascinated me as to how it could be acheived since mostly everthing else hes provided as proof has already been dubunked,
I'm aware that a studio back in the 70's studied the beamship sounds and concluded 'the sounds were impossible to create using a synthseizer', from my prospective the sound source is in self oscilation & being overdriven in the signal path. Synthesizers cost alot in the 70's, they werent really
for the consumer market, so i dont know if meier had the expense to afford one of those back then.

However it could be possible an electric guitar (or even a delay unit) might have been used to overdrive the signal path and cause self oscilation as demonstrated by Jimi Hendrix in this youtube Video clip below, please skip to around the 3.12 mark and listen onwards from there...you'll be surprised at what you'll hear.

Either way what you hear in meiers recordings of the beamship sounds, is a signal path being self oscilated. As to what source it deffintly comes from is something that warrants further study.

I posted a while back about the sounds. I think the sound is an old belt saw, such as found in a small lumber mill, the sort of thing the Waltons used (remember them?). These things can sound truly haunting at times.

The sound was then maybe recorded through a large pipe or something to add funk echo.

I will try and find a clip, you will recognize the sound immediately.

That would be great.....thankyou! :)

I'm still looking for the sound I heard, not many good Walton's clips on the net these days... I will update when I find them - I will bet my last penny Meier has or had access to a belt saw.

This is a low-quality clip, but you will hear what I mean - especially if you echo it through a large metal pipe.

A very similar sound can also be had by trying to drill hard metal with a blunt drill bit, lots of rhythmic circular whining, some very high-pitched indeed - such as had in the beamship sound.

Yep....I'm hearing ya lynfowars!

Even though the belt saw sound clip you posted is not of very good quality, and it wasn't echoed through a metal pipe either, you've pretty much nailed it for me! I always new the whining on Meier's clip would turn out to be something simple.....very hard to prove though of course.

Thanks for that! :)
