I am A Buddhist and have fond my religion and training to be a tremendous help to my personal growth and to have helpt open my eyes to what is really going on with this experience we call reality. But I have friends and relatives who follow different religions i.e. Christianity and think that their faith has helpt them in much the same way.
I am well awer that most religions have been manipulated for control over many years but feel that they still have a gift to offer, and maybe are all pointing in the same direction.
Has any one got any thing thay would like to say on the mater?

Hi catfood http://vpn.cmlan.co.za/upload/mk72/36_33_8%5b1%5d.gif

It's a good thing you are a Buddahist - not so emotionally violent as other religions. And it teaches a good lifestyle and outlook on life - but it is still a Religion.
Now move on and actually go find yourself - let that be your religion.
The true god is in you - IS YOU.

I totally understand your reaction to religion. But I can see the support and insight it gives to people.
I have often herd it sed that to fulfil your quest for enlightenment there cums a time that identifying yourself with being a Buddhist becomes an obstacle that only prevents your from knowing your true nature.

It depends upon how it's used. It's why I greatly respect Buddhism, because you are free to learn and come to the conclusions yourself. There's nothing violent in the religion and I think a lot of it makes sense.

Its like following a blind man. Religions are good and bad at the same time and then they are neither.

Personally my experience with Buddhism has been a positive one. It doesn’t so much tell you how thing are it gives you a means to find out for your self.
Has anyone looked in to how the Chinese government is trying to undermine the Tibetan lineages of reincarnated lamas by forcibly implanting there own puppet lamas, i.e. the Panchen Lama

If you are intrestid wisit:

Dalai Lama is a fraud, same as all other religous leaders.
Sure it's bad what the Chinese have done to Tibet, but people need to take off their rose tinted spectacles and see Buddhism isn't all light and love. They have their version of the ascended Masters, which I feel could be the same as the New Age Alice Bailey channelings, she channeled one known as the Tibetan. Anyone heard that cannabilism is part of some Tibetan rituals?

Dalai Lama is more of a title that only one can have at a time. I do not think it to be a fraud, but I cannot be certain before I have met him, or one of those that have been Dalai Lama. I talked with Dalai Lama about 3 years ago I think it was. Seems like he had almost lost a friend who was taking the final test with him. They are risking their lives doing these trials. At least the last ones. I am certain they do know more about the body and spirit than most.

We can call them all a fraud, and they might very well be a tool as well as a leader, to control buddists. I cannot know for sure untill I know how they are actually doing things around Dalai Lama's habitat :) Wherever that really is.

I believe all religions can be good, or at least have good messages. It is up to the follower of a religion to make something good out of it, as I see it. Wether it is by following the religion, or using it to spread love to the world in some way.

How is the Dalai Lama a fraud? I've read some of his books and he's never claimed to be a god, anyone to worship, or even to be infallible. I fail to see the harmful part.

Religion is surely just unnecessary. A man made accessory. A hindrance. Whilst it may help you arrive at a truth... so what. Another revelation, from another source, may have done just as well. What is the point of it?

Not every religion is used to manipulate people.
If you look into the message that different religions are convening it is clear witch ones have been highjackt for controlling the masses. And I am pleased to say Buddhism especially Tibetan Buddhism is still a positive influence.
