Amen! Read The Stargate Conspiracy, great very objectively-written book that stumbled upon this very subject accidently. Woke me up to a lot of authors and alleged 'researchers' - Graham Hancock included. It verified a lot of intuitive suspicions I already had.. just couldnt find the means to go about it concretely.

I'm not recommending the material I posted for opinion. EDIT: Howeever personally I thought it was a good book and an interesting research study into SETI.
And yes I agree on the new age.

That's a good book. I even took a trip to Kingston-on-Thames after reading it, but didn't see anything particularly esoteric about ithe place.
