...that "human" is a cover word for a variety of spiritual essences incarnate in a common avatar (human body)?

Suppose a lot of people who identify with being a human "person" are actually vampires, aliens, demons, angels or gods; unbeknownst to themselves? Suppose the real truth of who-you-are, what-you-are and what you can do is not only hidden/locked away in your mind, but in your body also; waiting to be activated.

Suppose there are Powers-That-Be who intentionally keep knowlege of such things from the people involved (so they don't rebel against the established order, or develop a counter-culture, or are impossible to control)?

Suppose being a "person", which is a legal fiction, is no different (or very different) from being a "vampire", an "angel" or an "alien"?

Suppose you look human, but really are not. Suppose you could really be an immortal god, or superhuman mutant. Fantasy? Maybe, maybe not.

The potential is there.

I don't understand where morality comes into this? I'd be okay with it so long as I wasn't evil or anything

If I have considered what I consider to be a good life (and only I can really do that because morals are NOT universal), then what would it matter if I was human or not?

Isn't talk of being 'evil' very old fashioned? 'One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter' type of thing - who's to say what IS or ISN'T evil from any perspective other than their own (which then holds no weight - or at least no more weight than anyone else's perspective, therefore making it an utterly redundant point to try and argue)

If I have a choice though - ummmmm......Vampire please :D

Hi Krak, I guess morality comes into through fear; if you found out you weren't human, say half-demon, you might be afraid of yourself or what other people might say/do because "demon" is regarded as an evil thing, even tho you might be a good one individually.

And yeah, Vampire is always the most popular one I find; it's the purity of being immortal, predatory and alluring all at once I think. :);)

I would not have been happy at all with being something evil, like a demon or a vampire.
I think it had been cool to be an alien though. If I had been an angel, I would have left the Earth as fast as possible. ;)
It's much better up there in the sky than on this planet. Fortunately, I happen to believe in the wonderful Afterlife. :)

In an american law dictionary written by James A Ballentine a proffesor of law at the University of Calafornia, if you look under Human Being it says 'see monster'. Then when you go to Monster, it says;Human being by birth, but in some part resembling a lower animal. A monster hath no inherant blood and cannot be heir to any land, albeit it be brought forth in marriage: But, although it hath deformity in any part of its body, yet it hath human shape, it may be heir. 2 HI COMM216. 'Monster' I aint heir to any land, My deformity, even though i resemble a human, is im not pure blood, like most humans. I think this law book is trying to tell me something.:D

I didn't know that; very interesting. Why can't a monster be heir to land?

Delicate fragile perfection, angel and whore, is how The Pub Landlord Al Murray discribes women ;)

I'll go with being an avatar of me created by me for a virtual reality game I am playing.

An inmortal soul encased in a bodily prison.

Oh. Is that a Hindu or Sikh term then? I'm guessing it is.

It would be soo depressing to regard life this way; an immortal soul trapped in a mortal physical prison. Very Gnostic.

Can I buy a more positive / enhancing / empowering view, please?

I think a small percentage of souls in human bodies are not innately human, and have thought this for a very long time. Though I believe most humans are inherently human, and do not come from some other line of souls.
