I came across this article today, and I know this is something we could all be doing. This experimental community seems to be thriving. I think it's very interesting that organized religion is not allowed here.

Could this be the answer to peaceful, loving communities elsewhere? I sure would be willing to try it.

Here is a link to the article if anyone is interested in reading about this amazing community in Ethiopa.

No. Disallowing religion is about as stupid as imposing it. Religion is negative, but to force its way out of a society to make "peace" is rubbish. There is already conflict if one wants to follow a religion, is there not? I think we all understand that imposing blue prints means conflict, and this is another one, to get rid of the other blueprints for peace. Christians also want to do the same. They want to get rid of the other blueprints, other religions etc, do they not? There must be freedom in all aspects of life. This will crumble in time. Don't get me wrong, I'm in favour of peacful communes, as lonmg as it allows for freedom of expression - even though religions suppress the freedom of the individual. In addition, as long as the religious follwoing does not impede on others, rather, just a belief.

Hi nessa, I don't know what country you are in, but in the UK you couldn't do this sort of thing at present because the powers that be have to have their grubby mits into everything.

If they were out of the picture we could do miracles.

Hello cruise4, I live in the US, Texas to be exact. I have to say it would be the same thing here. I still remember what happened to the Branch Davidians in Waco. I watched in horror as they burned those people.

That's probably what would happen to anyone who tried this.

It is just encouraging to see that some people can accomplish such a promising community.

I wish them all the best in their endeavor. :)
