Hi guys,
I've been reading of ways to detox the body from metals, such as mercury, and I found articles about carnosine (http://www.1stvitality.co.uk/az/carnosine/l-carnosine_metal_chelation_therapy.htm) very interesting.
Carnosine exerts – at least partly – its beneficial health effect due to its ability to chelate metals (Miller and O'Dowd 2000, Chez et al. 2002). What does it mean in plain English? The term chelate, from the Greek ´chele´ for ´claw´, refers to the ability of a material to combine with excess metals in the cells and blood stream, so the liver and kidney can excrete them. Chelation therapy, is normally given as a series of intravenous infusions containing disodium EDTA and various other substances like penicillamin.
Another great review on carosine can be found HERE (http://www.biovita.fi/english/terveyssivut/carnosine.html)
Has anyone experiences or more info on this? In THIS (http://www.mercola.com/article/mercury/mercury_elimination.htm) article are some other substances for removing mercury like Chlorella(green algae) (http://www.mercola.com/forms/chlorella.htm) and Cilantro (http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/cilantro-chelation-therapy-heavy-metal-detox.html)
Let's get rid of all those toxins :D
