Stand-up philosopher Timothy Freke, co-author of international bestseller The Jesus Mysteries, talks to an intimate group about his new book The Gospel of the Second Coming. This will be a real treat for those who missed Tim’s unique performances on his recent tour to the USA, as he takes us on an enlightening romp through history, mythology and philosophy – all mashed up with a healthy does of parody. A deep spiritual message about oneness and love presented in a fun and funky way.

Please watch this video with an open mind, it's got lots of great info. Enjoy. :)

No. Didn't watch. But the title of the thread didn't turn ME on, so I wasn't interested. I suppose there are a lot of funny jokes about the second coming? eh?

Maybe it was a bad choice for a thread title but it was actually the same name as the video, which is actually the tag line for the book that Tim Freke wrote. The video isn't about making fun of the second coming, sorry if you got the impression from this. :o

It's actually a lecture by Tim Freke the author of the book The Gospel of the Second Coming which is a fictional book written sort of like a a 21st century gospel about a fiction jesus character who comes back to correct the things that were written about him. Lots of gnostic info and wisdom presented in a sort of funny way. It's not about bashing religion or Christ or anything like that. It's really a lecture with a positive message that we are all one. It's really worth watching if your into gnostics and such.

Peace:)

If your interested in the gnostic perspective of Christ, I would say give it a chance...it does kinda start off slow but picks up with good info.

He was mocking faith in Christ

Not really, he has a different view on who and what Christ is...a gnostic view. He sees the entire story of Jesus Christ's life as one big parable. His basic message is that we are all one.

I know what the gonistic view is but he mocked the Biblical Christian view in the first few seconds. In my opinion Christ doesnt belong to people like him, he needs to come up with another deity for his religious views. Christ is the Christian God.

In your opinion, what is the gnostic view of Christ? How exactly did he mock the Biblical Christian view? What did he say?

Isn't that just being greedy as well as an idolatry? Christ is apart of everyone, not just Christians.

Technically he is a Christian, because he does follow the Christ. ;)

The gnostic view of Christ is that he is an example, and that we can all be Christs ourselves.

Im not going to transcribe the tape to show where he mocks Chrstianity but its in the first 2 minutes.

Do you know technically what a christian is? If so, tell me what a biblical Christian is in your opinion

I dont know why it is assumed JC didn,t have a sense of humour.
What about the sick man at the pool of Bethsaida ? He,d been going there for 38 years hoping that when the "angels troubled the water" he would make it into the waters ahead of the rest, however he was not suficiently able bodied enough to make it in ahead of the rest. 38 years of hope, effort, failure and frustration.
Then JC turns up and asks him if he wants to be healed!!
The old boy must have thought he was taking the piss.....I would have had trouble not to laugh,Im a terrorble giggler.

Many thanks for posting this devyn.
I just watched the whole thing and it just keeps getting better as he gets into it. The second half is brilliant!
The "slow start" for some, the "mocking" for others, is not what this lecture is about.
You can chuck out the first ten minutes or so (or you could make another thread about it - I'd have something to say).

Well, that's quite an authoritarian viewpoint. The gnostic view of Christ is obviously just as "christian". And they used the Christ word far longer than the biblical christians.
