Big Brother finally comes 25 years late

Seems BIG O’BROTHER does exist, and is alive and well in the White House. 2009 is looking a lot like 1984.
The White House is hiring a contractor to harvest information about Americans who criticize the administration from pages on social networking websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

Seems Democrats have spent months drafting something rather scary behind closed doors. Their bill appears to permit the president to seize control of private-sector networks during a so-called “cybersecurity emergency” (code for allowing Obama to shut down the internet). Unfortunately the designation of what is a critical infrastructure system or network has no specific process, and there's no provision for any administrative process or review.
Alas, if only he already had this control during the health care debate.
