Okay, folks, I found out today from a urologist that I have "overactive bladder". :p

It's pretty much caused by stress and tension. :(

I have sachets of a medicine to rub on myself every night. Thankfully, the doctor gave me 2 sample boxes, so I have it for 14 days to see if it works. Then I have a prescription slip to fill at the pharmacy.

You know, it's funny, about 2 weeks ago, I was walking by a little bodega/ South American medicine store, and there was a sign for overactive bladder tea. I had a feeling right then that's exactly what I needed, BUT I was nervous. What if that condition wasn't what I had? (The first time I went to the clinic, I was diagnosed with a UTI.) And then I wondered what were the herbs or ingredients in the tea, and were they pure, what other effects could they have, etc.

I guess I'd prefer to take something natural, but I didn't want to "mess around" any more. The situation was getting difficult and affecting my enjoyment of life and my activities, like long walks.

Anyway, I hope the medicine works. I actually feel a bit better already just knowing what's going on with my body.

Has anyone else had overactive bladder? Ideas and suggestions?

Thanks! Hugs!

I did a google search "herbs for bladder control" and got many interesting hits. This is the first one: http://www.thenaturalbladder.com/p4d5.html

You can do the same thing and check the other links to find commonalities. You don't have to buy anyone's formula. Just look at the ingredients and get those yourself at an herb or health shop.

I would take the prescription for the least amount of time possible. Personally, I wouldn't take it at all. The side effects are not worth it.

The drug companies know what herbs cure what. So they can get patents and make money, they distill the "active ingredients" of these herbs for their respective illnesses. The problem is, our bodies were not meant to handle these isolated chemicals like that and that's what causes the side effects. Taking the herb yourself, you get the active ingredients and the other chemicals/enzymes in the plants that work synergistically together in a way that your body recognizes.

I would also go online and search for the side effects of the drug you got so that you can be prepared for them and maybe even counteract them.

Thanks so much, motleyhoo! :D When you're sick, sometimes it's hard to think straight, esp. when worried about what's going on. I've been so nervous about this, which didn't make it any better.

What you've said makes perfect sense, and the bit about the way herbs work synergystically is great.
