For those that would like to get a good start in astronomy...download Stellarium! It's free and you can get a very accurate map of the stars and planets in real time! All you need to do is choose where you live..
Get a picture of where Jupiter is, then go out in your garden (weather permitting) and see it with your own eyes.

There's a good site I StumbledUpon that instructed people how to navigate by the stars. Very useful knowledge in my opinion!

It'll teach you to locate north, Orion and Betelguese.
I want to try it out in real life but it's so cloudy in Dublin....
Vital knowledge methinks :D

That's a fun little excersize. _underscore_ was taught at an early age that the big dipper (which is rather easy to identify in Washington state) points to the North Star, _underscore_ had forgotten how to view the dipper as a pointer.

Has anyone been checking their compasses to see if North is moving?
(ie. magnetic pole shift).
