Skip to next paragraph WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Doctors are reporting a severe form of swine flu that goes straight to the lungs, causing severe illness in otherwise healthy young people and requiring expensive hospital treatment, the World Health Organisation said on Friday.
Some countries are reporting that as many as 15 percent of patients infected with the new H1N1 pandemic virus need hospital care, further straining already overburdened healthcare systems, WHO said in an update on the pandemic.

Some countries are reporting that as many as 15 percent of patients infected with the new H1N1 pandemic virus need hospital care, further straining already overburdened healthcare systems, WHO said in an update on the pandemic.
"During the winter season in the southern hemisphere, several countries have viewed the need for intensive care as the greatest burden on health services," it said.
"Preparedness measures need to anticipate this increased demand on intensive care units, which could be overwhelmed by a sudden surge in the number of severe cases."
Earlier, WHO reported that H1N1 had reached epidemic levels in Japan, signalling an early start to what may be a long influenza season this year, and that it was also worsening in tropical regions.
"Perhaps most significantly, clinicians from around the world are reporting a very severe form of disease, also in young and otherwise healthy people, which is rarely seen during seasonal influenza infections," WHO said.
"In these patients, the virus directly infects the lung, causing severe respiratory failure. Saving these lives depends on highly specialized and demanding care in intensive care units, usually with long and costly stays."
MINORITIES AT RISK
Minority groups and indigenous populations may also have a higher risk of being severely ill with H1N1.
"In some studies, the risk in these groups is four to five times higher than in the general population," WHO said.
"Although the reasons are not fully understood, possible explanations include
we have released the Mk2 version of our bioweapon, or we are making it up to get you all scared more

No surprise. Many have been stating that a harsher strain would be released at or around the fall season. Humanity will weather what ever those nefarious ones throw at us. We've faced bigger things than this.

Not just "hospital treatment", but EXPENSIVE hospital treatment.
Bottom line, guys, or at least one of 'em.

Point well made. They seem more concerned with the cost of keeping others alive than they do preserving life.

Seems they have this Mk2 ready for the USA and are now releasing it.
In the UK Swine Flu is totally over. Probably only a few thousand cases in the whole country now and all the flu advice centres closed and all the tamiflu collection points closed. All staff now laid off as well. They dont seem to be expecting to go to stage 2 at the moment........

How do they know this already if new strain is new?

Aaaah, but THIS, my friends, is the kicker . . .
from the original article:
Minority groups and indigenous populations may also have a higher risk of being severely ill with H1N1.
"In some studies, the risk in these groups is four to five times higher than in the general population," WHO said.
"Although the reasons are not fully understood, possible explanations include lower standards of living and poor overall health status, including a high prevalence of conditions such as asthma, diabetes and hypertension."

Okay, angelthecat, but we were on the way down to New Haven the other day, and there was a sign outside a Walgreen's pharmacy saying that they were getting the vaccine. It couldn't have been Sept 1, maybe it was October 1 (Unless the vaccine is "ready" for some . . . ready to kill).
From the location of the pharmacy, one might think that inner-city residents are being targeted. That would be largely black . . some hispanic. That's what's meant by minority here.
So, if minorities aren't killed by the flu, they'll be done in by the vaccine. If you don't get 'em one way, get 'em the other.
And if there is a nanochip element in the swine flu vaccine, the idea that inner-city, minority citizens (esp. children) are being chipped and tracked through the vaccine . . . FIRST, before other populations . . . . is . . . ungodly.

It was only a matter of time. They are sooo predictable. Next they will be accusing any dissenters and refusers of being potential serial killers/ anti-socials who must be subdued for the sake of the whole community!

Strong swine flu strain predicted
some skeptical
Mohammed Adam, Canwest News Service
Published: Saturday, August 29, 2009
For most infectious disease experts around the world, including Ottawa medical officer of health Dr. Isra Levy, there is no doubt swine flu will return this fall and winter. The only question is whether the H1N1 virus will mutate into a more deadly form or weaken and fizzle out. It is a guessing game, and no one knows for sure.
The World Health Organization, however, says by the time H1N1 runs its course, two billion people, about 30 per cent of the world population, will be infected. Millions could die. Making vaccines available quickly is critical.

My problem with this is that in the us we hear that there is a new strain but this story is a day later and posted an hour ago in canada saying its predicted.
