Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke has become an ironically high profile victim of ID theft, after his wife's purse and wallet were stolen.

The info in his wife's stolen purse apparently let these thieves set up to use the Bernanke's bank account and start making out checks from it. One wonders whether the criminals knew whose name they were messing with, when they wrote those checks?

I heard Mrs. had her purse hanging on the back of her chair. Tsk, tsk. Even I know better than to do that.

good thing they didn't get hold of Bernanke's own wallet, he probably has a US Treasury card in there :D
