There was a time when you could not walk past the New Age section of a bookstore without seeing a selection of books by Elizabeth Clare Prophet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. She was the leader of a cult called the "Church Universal and Triumphant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia".

Prophet and her Church made news back in the late 1980s and early 90s when she predicted a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union, which was to occur on March 15, 1990. Prophet's Church spent $20 million building a bomb shelter in order to survive the nuclear war. Elizabeth's son Sean recounts that when the dreaded date arrived, Church members were herded into the bomb shelter, but the sewage system had not been completed in time, so "hundreds of people had to relieve themselves in makeshift toilets made out of 5-gallon buckets". (This didn't do much for the air quality inside the air-tight bomb shelter.) Of course, the date came and went without incident.

In 1998, Elizabeth Prophet resigned as leader of the Church for health reasons. She was later diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Some years later, the reorganized Church refused to provide funds for the ailing Prophet's care. Prophet's daughter, Erin, was reduced to suing the Church her mother founded in order to obtain the funds needed for her ailing mother's care. Her lawsuit was successful.

Elizabeth's son Sean has since become an atheist. He maintains his own blog. Here is a link: http://www.blacksunjournal.com/music/263_rush-saved-me-and-my-kids_2006.html

Elizabeth's daughter Erin maintains a website in which she provides updates on her mother's condition, linked here: http://www.ecprophet.info/health.html

Yes, the IAM cult. My dad researched them back in the day. I have some interesting literature of theirs and some other things like a flexi-disc 45 of Elizabeth Claire Prophet. They are big on the Ascended Masters - Jesus, the Count of St. Germain, many others... Her voice is strangely hypnotic and she seemed to age very slowly (from what I have seen of her later lectures) over the decades.

I don't know...she was still in her 50s when Alzheimer's set in.

Maybe she was younger then I thought in the early days.

It's very strange to listen to her drone on about Ascended Masters and chakras and vibrations. Again, she has this hypnotic monotone voice that seems to go on and on. The IAM was surprisingly big in the Chicago area.

Certain family members got roped into this cult somehow. I really don't have much to say except that it is one of the most insidious and evil forms of mind control known—that's what the hypnotic voice is all about. Stay as far away as possible.

Interesting, '77. My mom said when my dad was researching the IAM he went to some of their meetings and they would chant things like "Down with Martin Luther King" "Down with JFK" "Down with Civil Rights" - things like that. He told her that in a way it was hard to resist the pull of the group chanting.

I have one of her books about Enoch and the watchers, who some people equate with the annunaki. Very interesting.

I remember reading one of their books years ago .....and thought
they were a con.

They used the trick - and the threat similar to all the other
fundamentalist Christain church that your soul will be lost and
destroyed if you don't change now....i.e start practicing their ideas .

And how time was runing out ....and your soul needed saving now.

The ususal stuff.

Interesting to hear what happening to them. Sad.

Interesting, I wondered what happened to her. I remember this cult getting a lot of media attention when they were building their bomb shelter.
I agree that she used her voice to manipulate. Something very sinister is going on when she talks. I notice in just listening to her in videos that I feel as though something weird (wrong) is going on when she talks, yet I also feel comforted. Well I don't know if comforted is the best word to describe it, but something like that. Scary.

I like her son's blog...Rush saved his life...that's beautiful :D

A lot of misconceptions about.

"Down with JFK"? Really? If this is true,, your mom said this about your dad's visits,, well...,, you know,, "heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it..."

"Sinister" and "comforting". Now there's a twist.

I would put to words my feelings but who would listen. Anyway. "There is more in heaven AND EARTH Horatio,, then are dreamt of in your philosophies." ... and "We are all Children" I don't know who said the later but I'm sure someone has, and in some sense it implies we have more to learn than we could know.

Sorry to hear about that, '77. Are they still involved with it? I read that after ECP stepped down from leadership, the Church organization practically went defunct for a couple of years before it was reorganized.

This is an interesting summary of a book by a former follower of Elisabeth Clare Prophet:

Lambs to Slaughter is a self-published book about the author’s 14-year hiatus as a devotee of Elizabeth Clare Prophet and her Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT). This is a story about manipulated devotion and mind control from the perspective of a former true believer. It is also an intimate look at a prophet-guru during her formative years as the leader of her own marginal religious movement. As with nearly every notorious cult leader in recent decades, this story includes the misuse of power, sex, and money by a less-than-genuine, self-proclaimed spiritual leader of the planet.

Pietrangelo first met Elizabeth Prophet in 1969 when her group was called "The Summit Lighthouse" in Colorado. He was a young and spiritually ambitious college student from Mississippi who quickly fell under the allure of Elizabeth Prophet and her then-husband, Mark Prophet, who founded the church in the late 1950s. Mark and Elizabeth were spirit mediums who called themselves "messengers." After their marriage in 1961, they claimed to be the sole living messengers of the ascended masters of all the world’s religions, including some whose names are idiosyncratic to the cult. In New Age parlance, they "channeled" beings like , Jesus, Buddha, K-17, Morya, Quan Yin, Afra, Hercules, Mighty Victory, Astrea, Shiva, Pope John XXIII, and so on—more than 35 by my count.
{...}
Pietrangelo became a church staff member in Colorado in the early 1970s, when he took a position as a chef in the kitchen which served a staff of 70. "My salary was twenty dollars per month gross. So compensation for an assistant chef, who labored some four hundred hours per month, was a grand total of five cents an hour ... plus room and board," writes Pietrangelo (p. 18). His room was a shared barracks in the attic of the church center. Throughout the history of CUT, staff members have been expected to make similar sacrifices. The leaders, however, have always lived well.

The author recounts the two most significant relationships in his life as a result of his initiation into the Summit Lighthouse, later renamed Church Universal and Triumphant as a tax shelter (p. 84). He met his wife, Susan, during his early years as a devotee. They had five children and remain happily married despite their harried existence as cult members. He also met Randall (Kosp) King, the man who became Elizabeth Prophet’s young, third husband after Mark Prophet died in 1973.

Pietrangelo’s first-person account exposes the reader to a very personal journey into what the author once believed was the most important position any human being could have—that of serving the one person who stood at the crux of human destiny. In order to establish herself, Elizabeth Prophet has claimed an incredible array of past lives including many queens and saints. Her devotees call her "Mother," and believe she wears the crown of the World Mother (p. xvi). Pietrangelo recounts his struggles with the Prophets, both of whom exhibited loose tempers and a highly manipulative style of leadership, using "crisis management" and deception: "Life in the organization, as in all cults, was a roller coaster ride with incredible highs and fearful lows. There is never a dull moment, never a let-down of emotional tension" (p. 72). For instance, just before Mark Prophet’s untimely death and afterwards, the members were required to buy survival equipment, gold and silver, and guns because of a predicted collapse of the economy and the onset of a war. This activity was called "Operation Christ Command," and the Prophets maneuvered to profit from sales of supplies to the devout. Pietrangelo points out that the church sold products at inflated prices, 40% to 50% higher than retail, to the naïve "chelas" (literally, slaves) (p. 73).

It took the author 14 years of sometimes tortured belief before he and his wife finally made the break from CUT and Elizabeth Prophet in 1983. It may be difficult for some people to understand how an otherwise intelligent man could do this. What most people do not understand is the process that someone goes through before and after conversion to any extremist view and allegiance to that view. Pietrangelo intersperses his story with commentary about the persuasiveness of the leaders and how their subtle and not-so-subtle influences led to his mind control, or "brainwashing." Only too late did he realize how much his emotional investment in the group promise could be manipulated.

The promise included not only the ultimate opportunity for personal and planetary salvation, but also the power with which to subvert and conquer all evil. The two most important elements in the CUT formula for salvation are a strong allegiance to Mother and the practice of decreeing. Decreeing is a form of rapid chanting of a large collection of prayers, commands, and invocations used by CUT members for self-improvement, planetary purification, and self-defense. CUT teachings include identifying a host of "dark forces" in the guise of black magicians, spirit entities, and evil, colored rays that become pervasive in the consciousness of the believer. Pietrangelo was caught in this tangled web of forces, which only Mother Prophet could truly identify for him. He had unwittingly entered a psychic minefield with only one way out: through Mother’s direction—that is, until 1983 when he had an intimate chat with his longtime friend Randall King.

This is perhaps the most revealing and most controversial portion of Lambs to Slaughter. By 1980 Randall King had been divorced from Prophet and exiled from the cult. After many months of confused existence, King began to collect his wits and his self-esteem. He met with Gregory Mull, another former CUT member, who had been sued by CUT’s leader for money. In order to protect himself, Mull initiated a countersuit claiming fraud, psychological slavery, and money owed him from six years of unpaid services as a church architect. Mull had been kicked out by Prophet after he learned that she was using the devotees’ written confessions as references when they were supposed to have been burned. King became a star witness for Mull, who won his case against Prophet and CUT. In 1986 Mull was awarded approximately 1.5 million dollars.

Pietrangelo reports that Prophet tried to manipulate him into testifying against King in her behalf, but she made one too many errors. Prophet tried to convince Pietrangelo that King once had threatened her with a knife and drew blood. Pietrangelo confronted King with this information. It was then that King, shocked by the lie, opened up to his friend and told his bizarre tale, a tale that included months of erotic massages and mutual masturbation with Mother, even before Mark Prophet died. According to King, one week after Mark’s death, Elizabeth brought forth (channeled) Mother Mary, like a personality puppet, to marry her and Randall in a very private ceremony, after which they had intercourse.

Sex among the Philistines or the unenlightened is one thing, but in CUT teachings, extramarital sexual contact has been strictly forbidden. It was not the sex, however, that bothered Pietrangelo; he was most angered by the ugly duplicity of the woman to whom he had submitted his soul’s salvation, albeit a woman he had begun to dislike. He told his wife what he had learned. They both snapped out of their enchantment with CUT and left, never to return.

I started to read the above "expose" of the "cult".. (what is a cult? Does anybody know?) Anyway,, the author states, "Boo Hoo.. I made 5cents an hour, while the leaders lacked nothing.. boo hoo.. and I had to live in an attic with other people... boo hoo".. So I stopped reading. Because this is my life outside of any church.. and unlike him, I can not walk out any time I want.

hey guys,

I've been familiar with david icke for some time and happened to come upon this thread because of some similarities between him and Elizabeth clare prophet. After reading some of the negative CUT posts, I felt compelled to create an account in order to post my comment.

i can understand how many would see CUT in a negative light given all of the negative events that have happened in the past with the organization and elizabeth's children. I'd like to say that CUT is not a cult. The people and the organization are certainly not dangerous. I've met some incredibly intelligent and gentle people throughout the years.

The teachings that come out of CUT are some of the most advanced spiritual information in the world. The Ascended Masters, the violent flame, the lessons on karma and reincarnation are truly mind blowing. I had the privilege of attending numerous conferences of CUT while they were still located in Malibu, CA and then eventually in Montana.

There's no question that Elizabeth caused quite a stir at one point with the dangers of nuclear war and the creation of the bomb shelters. And there's no question that every organization has its extremists and eccentric members. You need to look beyond that. Focus on the teachings.

I don't find her voice monotone at all. I thoroughly enjoy listening to her voice and the meaningful messages she has to impart upon us.

I first thought of Elizabeth when I heard David speak about the lizard people and the human sacrifice drinking human blood thing. Well, Elizabeth was saying the very same thing years before David Icke ever came on the scene.

Elizabeth would talk about the Nephilim or fallen angels/entities who had been cast out from heaven. I imagine the most being from the 1/3 of the angels in heaven that left with Lucifer. These beings then mated with humans and continue to reincarnate. Reincarnation is one of the reasons why these bloodlines and their insidious plans are able to continue on for so long.

Because they possess no divine spark(threefold flame of power wisdom and love), they must steal their light energy from human beings. Children, of course, are the greatest source of light energy, having recently been in the higher planes of existence. Without light energy, none of us can survive on this earthly plane.

I think we're all aware of the rampant child kidnapping, molestation and sacrifice that goes on right in our own governments - all in the name of their pagan rituals and beliefs.

The goal of the Nephilim is to enslave the human race and be anti God. They are content with their own destruction, if it will lead to the destruction of us and planet earth. They care about nothing.

Anyway, as you can see, this is an ancient battle between good and evil, between the forces of light and darkness. I'm assuming that the members on this forum are believers in the teachings of David Icke and that my statements are not seen as being too outlandish. I'm speaking very frankly here.

the chanting is what are called decrees and the purpose is to harness the power of the spoken word. Mark and Elizabeth wrote a book called Science of the Spoken Word, which deals with how we can create energy just by our words.

chanting is nothing new. buddhist monks have been doing it for centuries. powerful affirmations which are spoken out loud can have significant effects on our daily lives and world events.

the "prophets" took the tried and "true" method of Godfre and Lotus Ray King (Guy and Edna Ballard) and extemporized on their themes.
The "mighty I Am Presence", the "chart", the Violet consuming flame, the tube of light, in fact...the WHOLE NINE YARDS and MILKED it for a while.

c'mon redrum!!! The Ballards introduced the Violet Consuming Flame, the repetition of "decrees", the "channelings" of St. Germain, Jesus, Kuthumi, The Great Divine Director, The Tall Master from Venus, Beloved Archangel Michael, Beloved Vicory, Beloved Mary mother of Jesus, Sanat Kumara, ad nauseum back in the 1930's!

I saw the "chart" for the first time in 1977 in my 1935 edition of The I Am Discourses. Vol. 3

http://www.lcrawfords-manymansions.com/Ascended%20Master%20Instruction/Magic%20Presence/I-AM-Presence---5-inches.jpg

that's "you" on the ground, between two "pillars" no less. the violet consuming flame surrounds you as it dissolves past karma and every negative thought, wet dream, or discouraging word. hovering above you is "the mighty I Am presence". this is the "image and likeness of God". it is eternal, perfect, and incapable of recognizing your imperfections. you are connected to the "mighty I AM" with the cord of light which will withdraw upon your "death" (the Ballards said "there is no death"...but they all died) the "Presence" is what "illumines" you and allows you to experience consciousness. the tube of light that surrounds is added protection from psychic vampirism and negativity. Again, the presence knows nothing of this as it extends its rays of light in all directions, extending perfection everywhere.
