As the world's population grows, competition for food, water and energy will increase. Food prices will rise, more people will go hungry, and migrants will flee the worst-affected regions.

That's the simple idea at the heart of the warning from John Beddington, the UK government's chief scientific adviser, of a possible crisis in 2030.

Specifically, he points to research indicating that by 2030 "a whole series of events come together":

* The world's population will rise from 6bn to 8bn (33%)
* Demand for food will increase by 50%
* Demand for water will increase by 30%
* Demand for energy will increase by 50%

He foresees each problem combining to create a "perfect storm" in which the whole is bigger, and more serious, than the sum of its parts.

There is some truth behind all the spin.

The population increase

where are we going to get the resources for those people we can BARELY make it now with almost 7 billion. Oil, natural gas production are in decline and we DON'T KNOW how much there really is. Look at the state China is, giant dust clouds going around the earth, smog/pollution, poisonous air, 90 000 people executed every year in concentration camps. If China were to ever consume as much oil as the united states. Game over for the climate.

India needs to dig over 250feet underground to find water. Thats insane and their population shows NO sign of slowing down what they are doing. They are going to run into serious issues and nobodys going to be able to help that many people. India is also creating their own rain clouds from planes and its not enough. I will not feel bad if their society collapses. They got themselves into the unsustainable mess and they DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE OR SLOW DOWN.
