I just made my first jars of bleckberry jam:D
I took my daughter out picking blackberries the other day which are growing in abundance in my area right now. We picked a fat bag full and I soaked them in cold water for a couple of days, added a few tablespoons of sugar, a spoon full of honey and a mushed up banana then boiled the mixture down until it was very thick and topped up a jar full. Its cooling in the fridge now and I cant wait to spread some on my toast tomorrow.
It got me thinking though. Im tempted to add a little bit of something extra special to make some happy jam. A few other things have come into season around my way lately so the possibilties are endless.

Apologies to Chris Morris fans.

Sounds lovely. That episode is hilarious. I love that it doesn't have canned laughter and the music is aphex twin creepy.

Nice one honey, it sounds delicious!:D It's lovely making things from what you've picked yourself, somehow makes it feel that much more special doesn't it! Have you stuck your finger in for a taste yet?:) I bet you have, lol!!

I sure did but Im going to wait until tomorrow for the full taste test. Its tasting pretty good already.
I think Ive found a new hobby. My kitchen is going to be full of jars in a few months I just know it.
Its a good feeling making your own food from the wild stuff that grows.
Take that Tesco value jams (50p). Mine was free.:D

Not really free though because you must have purchased the sugar and the honey!

Hehe I knew you wouldn't be able to resist;) Although if you're gonna be making all this jam, I think you should also be making your own bread to go with it next - nothing beats the smell of homemade bread baking, mmmm:)

Be interested to see what your "extra special" jam consists of too.....???;)

Hope you both enjoy your toast tomorrow!

I was given the honey and my friend bought the sugar as I dont usually have any in the house.
I guess I could include the cost of the jar and the gas I used to boil it down which probably comes to about 50p. I saved myself a trip to the nightmarish world of Tesco anyway so thats gotta be a bonus.

I think mushroom jam is next in the list:D
Or would that be pate?
Im new to the world of preserve making so Im unsure if it would be psylocibin jam or magic mushroom pate.

Lol, "mushroom jam" doesn't sound very appetising does it:D Although you could always start making chutneys, that's good for savoury stuff & the next step onwards from jam making....:)

Blimey, I'm getting hungry now, might have to grab some tiger bread, cheese & chutney on the way home!
