...you'll find clues to 9/11 on a potato chip...;)

How far back in time do you find it acceptable to look?

'98?

'92?

'89?

or here's an example...

Odd.... works for me.

It's the video for Memorabilia by Soft Cell

i'll put it up a "media", even though embed is disabled. That may work for you.

basically, at 3:56, the singer points up at the WTC and the camera pans up, where there is another layer/video that is made to look like plumes of smoke coming from the tower's upper floors...

this link works tho mr sheep, tho i must warn you (it is only fair), you'll have to wait thru almost the whole song before the wtc bit - and it is a real shite song, you might wanna turn Mr almonds musical talent down to a whisper or less, this song is a long way from Tainted Love. Well, it kinda goes by the long way mark and keeps on going into diredom terratory where even the birdie song feared to tread. It resides all alone there with Terry Wogans Floral Dance (RIP).

Didn't really see any 911 monkers tho, apart from the wtc being there.

Yeah... too much extasy i think :(

I have the old version that has Persuasion on the back, which is much better IMHO. But for Frustration, both versions are good if you are interested.

Anyway, back to the topic...

I didn't realise that the copyright issues existed. I would've uploaded a copy myself then :o

I realize that they didn't really intend to predict 9/11, i was just looking to see if people would jump on the subject and focus on Marc's obsession with eyes....

i thought the vid was quite multi layered and wondered if mark was deep enough to have included the concepts of a multi layered reality and pointers to it being an illusion.

Was never a big soft cell fan, so have no idea whether he has an awakened attitude or was just trying to be arty, as per most 80's bands.

:D

He is quite awakened. But he is a "free thinker" like me (as opposed to a conspiracy guy like MJ)...not into illuminati or freemasons.... he has quite a bit of songs that are essentially about society's drones, illusions, broken lives and consumerism...

When he was signed onto a corporate label and became famous, they tried to weed out a lot of that stuff, and he became heavily into drugs. He then started writing more about darker things and fell out of favor with the housewives.....

Essentially, there are three parts to his Soft Cell career. First part would be the underproduced, underground sound from his time at Leeds Poly, where he met Dave and started the band.

Good examples of that would be Tupperware Party (bored housewife drones), Metro MRX (business world drones), Persuasion (consumerism), old Frustration (ordinary sheeple feels trapped in life). The old Memorabilia still has that sound as well.

The sound if acquired taste, but the lyrics are good.

The 2nd part is when he suddenly hit fame with Tainted Love. The other two songs that you can find on YT with the same sound are Secret Life (beautiful sound IMHO), and newer Frustration. Frustration by now looks to have been forcibly edited, as the lyrics are not as deep but are more hedonistic. Fame was a bit hard for him to handle, so he wrote songs like Secret Life and Entertain Me about the human emotion of it and of having people examine the fact that he was (not yet publicly) gay. The sound was good.

The third part would be when he wrote Martin, Mugs Game and Soul Inside, etc. Different sound, heavier, darker lyrics about street life, death, pain. The housewife types that liked Tainted Love didn't care for that. He was painfully thin and heavily into drugs and was getting frustrated with life. It is also when he started getting his tattoos ('83 for the eye on his shoulder) The Mambas songs at that time were beautiful though. Black Heart is a good one.

Marc is a brilliant mind and a very sweet person....someone that felt lost in this manufactured world... still is, even thru the drugs and even his recent head injury.

Monoculture(2001?) is the most recent song that still focuses on society's issues
