Oh gawd, this is a long thread...I shall take it in bitesize pieces. I am currently working out my sleep problems with my therapist and hopefully I will start remembering my dreams, then. And then I can start lucid dreaming again :)

i wouldnt bother looking through it all AA. most of its just my pointless dream diary ramblings. what do you normally do in order to lucid dream? if you tell me that ill see if i can add some things to help. stored up a great variety of methods lately so some are bound to help

15/10/2010 WBTB WILDish still a little gap
lying down on left side with arm under head after 15 mins energy work on back.
drifted into a work dream, was there with a mate and we laughed about this massive long truck that someone was gonna have to try to drive round the yard. went inside and had to sit a test with odd questions such as bushs involvement on 911 and prizes of vouchers for milkshake. realised i didnt work there anymore so got lucid and asked my mate if he wanted to go and do something fun. he was pretty unresponsive which worked out well as i got the chance to just sit there and study the surroundings. was so real down to the fluttering of the papers pinned to the wall.
i tried to get fixed into the dream by studying the visuals and then decided it was time to try to hold the visuals while trying to wake up as slow as possible to try to find the borderline between awake and dreaming. started to get a subtle but beautiful buzzing feeling as the dream seemed to get realer and yet fade at the same time as if i was splitting my consciousness. the buzz seems to essentially be an extension of the feeling in your head when you slightly cross your eyes and can feel the blood flowing round. my vision started to fade, but mostly in one eye, as if reality was in one eye and the dream in the other.
after losing the dream in one eye i tried to go back into it and was there straight away. normally when i sit in a dream and try to take it further or learn something, this is when the bizzare imagery pops in and also sometimes when frightening things start to happen as if to put me off. this happened again and my mate also got a little odd as if he was warning me but unlike past attempts this time the efforts were laughably helpless to stopping me. its like you change from concentrating your vision on the whole image and the image splits into many parts all of which your brain tries to concentrate on at the same time. this is usually off putting but this time it was easy to ignore it and try to find the gap between wake and sleep. finally tried to learn something again while lucid even though i initially just wanted to 'go do something fun' again

had first bad dream for ages last night. weird thing was it started as soon as i fell asleep. started with a kind of paralysis where i was trying to walk, but i couldnt get anywhere fast due to some massive weight that seemed to hang onto my lower back. had similar ages ago but never this vivid and mindfucking.
anyway after that i was at some school event and afterwards we trashed a room. that room turned into my dining room. i drunk some red bull in the dream and i was 100% convinced that i had gone into some kind of freaky rage and trashed my house. so much so that i spent the rest of the dream putting everything back where it should be, constantly missing obvious dream signs of misplaced objects/furniture. woke up as i was picking bits of plastic up off the floor and i can still feel it now.
the lower back feeling has really made me think there is something in the idea of astral parasites, i cant think of another plausible explanation. i keep waking up with this odd feeling in my back, which isnt quite pain, yet is almost worse than having a pain there if that makes any sense. like the most extreme restless feeling that i just cant kick no matter what position i roll into
gone from one extreme to the other in the space of a day

thats pretty cool bro great memory. i remember some dreams from that far back but not many, although i do often revisit old dreams and locations. yeah usually anything bad happening is a great lucid marker for me, but occasionally i get these extremely realistic ones out of the blue that really make me wonder about the truth of psychic attacks.
about the one above, ive tried to find out about what it could be caused by today, and came across someone talking about paralysis brought on by caffeine.i had asmall coffee that night, and then the link to the red bull in the dream giving me the paralysing rage. if thats the link then i am even further astounded by the way the mind can work. almost managing to turn the negative into a positive
id love to hear from people with experience of dream paralysis though, especially anything that felt located in the lower back. it felt like a lead weight attached to my back, and really felt like an outside force was messing with me. anyone? cheers

heres last nights fun and games
well i was just messing around outside in the garden and for want of a better expression me and my family were being dicks. this partly made me realise that all wasnt quite right here, and when i looked at my surroundings closer i became lucid. this was one of those completely lucid, indistinguishable from real life ones, where all your senses are as they would be in reality. i looked around and said wow weve done something amazing here guys. of course no one knew what i was going on about.
as it was so vivid i thought well perhaps these people may be more than just dream characters, anyway it felt like it was worth checking. my immediate thought was to pick somebody who may be the likeliest one to remember such things. i chose an old family friend, probably because i have tried and failed with members of my family before. i staballised the dream by rubbing my hands on a small wall in front of me. the woman was over the other side of the wall and i very calmly looked into her eyes and said something listen what we are in is a 100% lucid dream. now even if nothing comes from this shared dreaming wise, it was stilll a very useful learning experience for me, as i got to see from the other side some of the things that may have scared me in dreams before and how silly it is to fear it.
she looked back at me in amazement at first as i held her hand. then she backed away slightly and said why me? i said something like its not just you its all of us, and tried to calm her fears. as iwas doing this everyone started crowding round and i could see this was worrying her. this has also been one thing that has really put me off having deep dreaming experiences because its scary to have everyone crowd round like that and be the centre of their attention. even though theyre motives seemed harmless i urged them not to crowd so much and this calmed her and she started to slip into the experience. she just had this big relaxed smile on her face and she slowly lay down on her back and seemed to be in a heightened state of physical pleasure. she just kind of dropped off to sleep while gently rocking and smiling as if it was some kind of psychadelic experience for her. this is where it kind of faded for me and i just left her to enjoy the dream.
who knows eh if it was part of a shared dream and she gets in touch then great, but either way i learnt alot and will be far less fearful the next time someone tries to teach me out of my comfort zone in a dream

recognising dream signs. this is one aspect of it i havent given enough focus to
it makes so much sense that if you have recurring dreams, to use those dreams when you are awake for you reality checks. eg if you see certain characters/places etc, focus on pictures or similar of them during your waking hours telling yourself its a dream, and you will do it far more often in the dream

I lucid dreamt once when i was little, and i used to try and control my dreams when i was a kid, but as i got older i forgot about it and lost interest, then a few years ago i had an experience of higher consciousness, and i started lucid dreaming, but they were all nightmares and i was always paralyzed or i would be watching a tv screen but unable to move or change anything, it felt like i was re-playing my living fears into my dreams, lots of dreams about death the only thing i was able to do was wake myself up and stop watching, since then i have been quite fearful to try again incase of these awful nightmares i had, i've had one or two positive dreams at that time but most were negative.
I know these were probably created from my consciousness fear and transfered into my dreams, as i still have some anxiety, i'm a little apprehensive of trying again.
Any tips?
Thanks:)

hi gem it sounds like in your case you would benefit from linking reality checks and dream signs. repetitive themes in dreams can be focussed on during waking life, in order to get your mind to realise that when these things happen, the chances are that its a dream. if nightmares are a common theme, then i would suggest that every time you see something similar or scary in real life, in the news etc, to tell yourself that you are dreaming and perform reality checks. common reality checks can be looking at your hands, trying to put your hand through something solid, jumping to test gravity etc. these checks should be rotated often so they dont just become a habit. hope this makes sense. for me lately i keep seeing parrots in dreams so i have conditioned myself to relate them to dreams. might even put a picture of a parrot next to my bed as a reminder :) can you think of any other recurring themes that you may be able to focus on? if not keeping a diary will help you remember. it can be anything from an object to a feeling, and ill try and help you turn it into a reality check if you like
there is a good thread on stopping sleep paralysis here

its just an amazing feeling when you realise that you cannot be hurt and can just turn around and laugh at what ever may be bothering you. i had one recently where some guy was trying to punch me but i just stood still and faced him and all his punches missed until he got bemused and left. good luck

bizarre series of lucids and was able to slip back into each one after waking up. also was essentially just awake lying in bed, completely aware of my body and surroundings but with a 100% lucid going on inside.... wowowowowow :D
had an amazing series of lucids last night. it started back at my old school. i was generally causing mischief and when i realised i wasnt being punished i knew it was a dream. it was good fun so rather than fly or anything i just thought id have a laugh by messing around. i was back in my old form room and just singing songs. mostly about how crap the school was and how education is a load of shit designed to train people into being good obedient little slaves. i even did the old thing we used to do where you make a really long tone without moving your mouth so no one knows who is doing it. its great to be childish sometimes. anyway theis went a bit more dreamy and the characters changed a little. a rapper was sat in the corner and i think for some reason this sparked the next part.
in order to pacify me from being such a disruption, the teacher came across and gave me a joint. around this point something really amazing happened. i became fully aware of my body lying in bed. normally this would destabilise, yet the dream was as solid as ever. the teacher kind of morphed into this black guy with an afro and i started ruffling his hair, messing around and telling him it was a dream as a reminder to me. it felt amazing and he laughed as it stabilised the dream. i knew that i was lying in bed, yet still locked into this real dream. if i opened my eyes i would be back awake instantly i felt, but i thought i would be able to go back this time. i opened them and awoke completely, but then concentrated on getting back. i wouldnt class it as a proper wild because there was stilla gap in consciousness. i still had the spliff id been given so started to smoke that. this was the weirdest thing ever because i was 100% awake and aware of my body in bed, yet smoking a spliff in a dream that felt 100% real, taste smell, smoke everything...
after that i drifted back awake briefly, then decided to go back to another dream. i was still with schoolmates, but this time i was driving a rally car. it was a dream where it switches between 1st and 3rd person view, unfortunately normally as the car started to go round big corners. as soon as i hit the corners it would switch to me sat there with a computer controller trying to swing it round but without any kind of good view of the car. i got out of the car and started kicking a football around. someone kicked it away so i went to get it and thumped it back hard. it smacked someone on the ass and knocked them over so i apologised. we walked towards this building and it all felt like a school pe lesson. we got into our swimming stuff and dived into the pool. for some reason we had too much kit on our upper bodies, so i couldnt breaststroke properly, which put me off.
later i realised i was back at my old work again (tes). this was a pretty good lucid reminder but i must concentrate on it because its the worst feeling ever to waste such a vivd dream there. i met an old unrelated friend and we chatted about what we are up to over christmas. probably because he supports the same team and is from the same town as the team i watched last night. cant remember much more for now

had a bit of a dry spell lately, but tried something different last night and it was ended with a bang. i tried a rpogram that flashes light at you at certain frequencies, which seems to really activate your inner vision/dreamsight whatever your wanky choice of wording.
as a warning falshing can cause problems in sensetive people, like epilepsy so be warned. here is the light flashing sim http://www.netliberty.net/dreamachine.html
i only used it briefly but definately felt it working. here is how i wrote up the experience elsewhere
personally i wouldnt try and use this for long periods in order to force a WILD. the more intense methods are always the most risky, and their certainly seems to be some power in simple flashing lights. i tried it last night before bed, and after just a minute or so i could really feel it pulsing in my minds eye. i was able to really focus on the imagery behind my eyelids which was kind of similar to what you get from just pressing your eyelids with your fingers. while lying in bed i could relax my eyes while meditating and similar fuzzy imagery was sort of overlaid onto reality. i had a much better meditation than normal and ended it with a wild attempt. i just wanted to visualise doing something really relaxing so i imagined being a turtle floating along. this was great and although i didnt get fully into the dream, it was still a pretty strong visualisation.
anyway in the morning i hit a couple of snooze periods on my alarm and had the longest chain of lucids ive ever had. and that is after a bit of a dry spell, although the dreams have still been more vivid and memorable. it ended with the longest and most stable lucid ive ever had. perhaps about half an hour or so. i was scuba diving along this canal and to stabilise it i was dragging myself along the bottom, trying to feel as much of my surroundings as i could. this worked great and i knew i was going to be in it for a while. i even managed to be so alert that i thought it would be worth having a go at healing myself in the dream. ive had a slight abdominal thing going on lately so i healed that area and it actually feels a lot better today.
i have had long lucid periods before up to about 15 mins probably, but the odd thing about this long one was that i didnt have as much control as usual. my usual reality check of pushing my hand through an object would have been no good because the dream was so stable that i tried pushing my hand through a wall and it just would not go. also i was with a girl trying to find a room in this house, but the house kept shrinking and changing. not in a scary, walls closing in kind of way but it kept happening so i just moved on to a different part of the dream. i ended up with a couple of mates who seemed out of their heads, so i just hung around watching things to restabilise. i was looking at a panel of wood and the grain was so intricate and seemed to glow along its lines. anyway i kept waking up and just willing myself back into a dream. ive done this a lot recently, but never into a guaranteed series of lucids like this morning. cheers folks there is something to this, but i wouldnt over do it

had an amazing time talking about dreaming in a long lucid this morning.
11/02/11
i went to a series of lessons, mostly on US obesity in a classroom at the top of a scyscraper in london. heights are a big dreamsign for me so i slowly caught on and started to do my usual disruption of the class while explaining that its only a dream to people. no one else seemed to catch on, but on the way out i explained to friends that i was now going to float around all the time just so people could no longer deny it was a dream ;) often in lucids i fade out of lucidity easily, but floating was a great way of having a constant reminder that it was a dream. i exited the building and one mate agreed it was a dream which is rare and he was floating a bit too.
i came to a dead end school quad like building and my mate russ came out of the door looking really pleased to see me. i spoke to him clear as day and said "so is this just a normal dream, or are you astrally projecting or something". he is about the only mate i have that openly knows about this stuff and just said something like "well its more of a kind of dream within a dream kind of thing". i really need to listen to other people better... anyway he left and i floated up the building and noticed that inside the school each class wa being led by a foxman/man in a fox suit.
there were balconies all over the building like my old uni halls. i floated up them and started chatting to 2 girls and a boy i thought i recognised but cant place. i said something like "when someone floats past you thats usually a good sign that you are dreaming". the boy questioned me, something like "well if this is a dream what day is it"? i found it quite hard to access my real memory so said "hmm ive lost track, its about thursday i think". we thought about it and came to the conclusion that it was now friday wihch seemed right. i explained to them that since i had become lucid i was just trying to interact with people in that state and see how they reacted when i told them it is a dream. one girl said "dont do that its scary" and i said "what is scary about sitting up on a balcony drinking with a couple of mates in a dream?" she kind of agreed that it wasnt realy scary but still looked a little apprehensive

Lucid dreams are AWESOME. The most recent I can remember is being a fighter in a gladiator style arena and some guy was kicking my ass and I realized I was dreaming and flew up in the air so he couldn't beat me up anymore and everyone watching in the arena (or wherever, I'm not clear on that) was not pleased. It was cool.

wow sounds like fun shelly. those kind of historical/fantasy type dreams are something i don't really get often. next time i get lucid i will try and imagine some kind of fantasy realm.
i think i may have met a guide last night :D
some guy just kind of looked at me really intensely and just said with a glint in his eye "so what do you want to know then?" i was ill in bed in the dream and was a little overwhelmed because its not often that i have such conscious characters in dreams. i had so many questions that i got brain freeze and woke up. i think the first thing i want to know if i get the chance again would be about the difference between lucids and obe's and whether they have any relevance to the 'real' world. i had another conscious character in my dream the other week and she kept on telling me to use my left hand for everything and that using the right was kind of pointless. very odd but very symbolic as ive been trying to balance out between left/right brain

the last part i remember of the unconscious dream i was having was being texted by these 2 girls. i tried for ages in vain to text back, but each time i looked backa t the phone, what i had written had changed. ive never become lucid like this yet, and this was the most frustrating dream because i tried repeatedly to type yet failed miserably. it sems to be pretty hard to dild for me these days but it doesnt matter because mild, deild, and wbtb are working like a charm every time.
i woke up and tried to stay awake. i contemplated the do not move policy, but this is hard to maintain for me and often i still just fall straight back asleep. i need to wake myself up slightly to have any chance of staying conscious, so i went to the toilet. back in bed and i start to try to go through a few techniques to keep myself awake while the body goes back to sleep. phantom wiggling is the best one for me right now, and i think i got closer than ever to a full on obe. however i quickly found myself straight back into the dream with a bang.
i was in london with my neighbour and a few friends. i think they thought we were on some kind of job, and we did a bit of sightseeing on a bus, passing some amazing parks and fairgrounds etc. i met upwith lexy, grumble and helen later and this is where the most lucid and stable part of the dream began. i kept it stable with touch, and also finally managed to keep repeating to myself and others that we were in an amazing dream. lexy had just got out of the shower and told me to follow her...
i managed to keep focus however, which is probably the hardest dream task ive managed yet. people were smoking weed, probably because i have not had any for a while. i decided to try it to see how it was. i remember trying it then just saying to everyone around me how good dream weed is. i used it as a prop and told myslef that with every toke, the dream would be made more stable which worked like a charm. i was still wary of dropping ash though which is odd.
eventually i had so much focus that thoughts turned to the magic of the placebo effect. i waqnted to use a prop so went up to a shop. this tested me as the shop was closed. this normally would break my concentration but i was so in the zone that i just walked straight in past security. the shop owner just said 'oh as its you i suppose its fine'. they even let me steal the pipe/flute that i wanted for my test! i picked it up and tried to play a tune on it with the goal of using it as a healing placebo effect for my physical ailments. didnt manage much of a tune but it didnt bother me. i even managed to explain to all the others around mewhat i was trying to do with absolutely no kind of embarrassment. if someone told me i would be doing this a few months ago i would have laughed hard

the tech i used for the dream above is so simple and effective i will try and give you the basic outline of it.
wake up after a few hours sleep. it helps to do it without an alarm but with one is fine too. some people suggest to stay completely still at this point as you will still be close to sleep paralysis, but i think this is really for advanced dreamers who are able to stop themselves from falling straight back into unconscious sleep.
i prefer to get up for a few minutes, but not do anything that will wake you up to much. just walk around for a bit, go to the toilet, get the paper in, that kind of thing.
when yo go back to bed, do a little stretching to loosen your muscles and make yourself aware of the body parts which may have a little tension stored in them. release this tension and relax back onto your bed.
the key here is to keep your mind awake, while letting your body relax back into sleep mode. i tried this for ages before going to bed, but it is so much easier in the morning as your body is so used to being asleep that it will do it without hassle. of course if you are the type who will find it hard to get back to sleep in the morning, then trying the technique where you do not move at all may be helpful.
now the key is to have a few different visualisations that keep your mind sharp, and also get you in the mood for a positive lucid. its easier if you have just come out of a good dream, as your will to get back to it should guide you there.
phantom wiggling is essentially about keeping still, while visualising your dream/thought body moving independently. you can use your whole body, or if easier just imagine one of your limbs waving around a bit. once you get tired or lose focus of this, move on to another visualisation. another good one is just listening in the the sounds in your ears. often you will become more foccussed on the internal ringing in them, which is a good sign that you are becomming more foccussed on the inner world. after this i just move on to visualising a few dream scenes and just observing them.
if this is not enoug then i just go back to phantom wiggling and repeat the cycle from there. some people find that the wiggling an take them into a dream, yet an unlucid one. a good way to counter this is to imagine a part of your body moving, that doesnt exist in real life. if you suddenly find yourself sat on a beach wiggling your tail, or a third arm coming out of your chest then there is far more chance to be able to recognise it as a dream. for a while i tried to visualise things which were to complex to visualise. even walking is tricky as you have to use you sense of balance as well as all the movement. i often found that when i visualised walking, i would suddenly find myself on the edge of a dream, then fall flat on my ass and wake up with a massive jolt like when you nearly fall asleep in a chair or when you are trying to stop yourself from falling asleep.
the first few times that i suddenly found myself fully immersed in a dream using these techniques, it was so exciting that i jump and wake myself up again. do not worry about this as with time it will get easier to hold yourself in the dream. visualising a less exciting dreamscape may help with this. also you can visualise yourself already in the dream, using techniques that are known to stabilise the dream. that way as soon as you get there, you will find yourself doing something that will keep you there for a while at least. for me the most effective one is just visualising touching things with my palms, rubbing your hands on the floor, or sticking your feet in the sand etc.
good luck and sweet dreams

I think I am starting to read my dreams better.
Last night I was following a group of people up a hill. I couldn't climb it, it was so steep and was soft sand, so when I tried to climb I would slide back down. I moved across to a different path where the ground was hard and there were small plants which I grabbed and used to pull myself up.
It think its symbolic of my spiritual path. I am grasping to go higher and follow my spirit but there is two paths. One of sand which will have me sliding back down (ignorance) or one of rock/hard surface (reason) which I can take to climb up with the plants representing knowledge to assist me in my journey. Like the rungs of a ladder leading upwards, instead of trying to climb up a slippery pole.

wow thats awesome mate, i have had extremely similar recurring dreams myself. normally it is a grass hill though, and as i walk up it it gets steeper and steeper until i am at the top, lying down clinging onto the grass with my fingers. it used to scare me but ive gotten a bit used to it now. if it is recurring you can use it to your advantage. do a visualisation meditation where you repeat a similar situation to your dream. except in your visualisation, picture yourself climbing the hill and realising that you are in a dream as you do it. repeat this enough and next time it happens you will nail it

I think the visual things that appear in dreams are symbolic of the manifestations of what is happening in the mind.
I am reading a book at the moment on dream yoga. It tells about how in the past, Sages or Mystics would be able to meet Gurus/Ascended Master in their dreams and be taught great secrets and wisdom. I think these Gurus/Ascended Masters is actually your spirit.
Some say that during waking life your Spirit is sleeping while your lower mind is awake, but during sleep, your spirit wakes up. Maybe we can't completely converse with the spirit as part of our mind, the higher mind, is not developed to do so yet?
They say that when the spirit sleeps it can communicate with you via intuition and reason. While dreaming, you can control your reality when lucid dreaming when you develop your ability to do so, developing your higher mind? It could be that enlightenment is to wake up the spirit during waking life that normally sleeps at this time, whereby you gain control of your waking reality, just as you do during sleep when lucid dreaming.

Darkness-In My Dreams - YouTube
Dreams
Sometimes reality, sometimes illusions
They can come to you straight from the darkness
The evil is trying to get your soul. Dreams. Dreams
In my dreams
In my fantasy
I can see
All the things that will be
Rescue me
From my fantasy
In my dreams, in my dreams, in my dreams
Dreams come in my mind like a hurricane
Nine minutes from thirty in the boogyman
I wake up in the middle of the night
My body sweats, I twist from side to side
I can't stand, I can't stand the feeling
Praying to God and I hope that I'm dreaming
My hands are bleeding, heads are bleeding
Lookin' to my mom and she starts screaming
What's going on, I can't stand the feeling
Turn my heads and I see my face in the ceiling
Each and every night, different faces
I'm the man in my dream in different places
Yes I'm lost and scared of the illusion
My mind is full, full of confusion
My body hurts, I twist from side to side
I wake up in the middle of the night
Dreams. They went into my soul
They give you plseasure till you I lose control
I can't sleep 'cause I got fear fear
I got fear of the things that I hear
Who's gonna be the one who helps from myself
I need somebody, I need help
My body's flyins, body's flyin
Just be a friend and I and I
Rescue me, rescue me. Oh come on rescue me
I'm on a road, on a road to nowhere
I'm on a roll, alone, where's my teddy bear
I can see you tonight 'cause I got fear
Somebody's screamin' loud and clear
I get shot and twist from side to side
I wake up in the middle of the night

They say that when the spirit sleeps it can communicate with you via intuition and reason. While dreaming, you can control your reality when lucid dreaming when you develop your ability to do so, developing your higher mind? It could be that enlightenment is to wake up the spirit during waking life that normally sleeps at this time, whereby you gain control of your waking reality, just as you do during sleep when lucid dreaming.
completely agree mate:)

i managed a dild from an ultra realistic dream for a change. was back at school and in a class about peoples physical issues like manboobs etc...:D i realised that the class was bollocks, which first led to a minor strop from me and almost walked out, then i realised that it was a dream. i explained this to the rest of the class who all dismissed it until i proved it by floating. i said to them that they were all free to sit there and waste the dream sitting in school, but i wasnt going to waste it but was going to go outside for a fly, and anyone who wanted to join me was very welcome. one of the lads seemed scared so i just said well dont you ever fly in dreams, and he said yes but not when he knew it was a dream. eventually one of the girls said can she come along. i took her out of the window without having stabilised the dream. as we got outside it started to fade and i pretty much woke up.
fortunately i remembered how to get back to it easily and was back in exactly the same situation. now however more of the class had joined us and all wanted to learn how to fly. this meant that the pressure was really on, but fortunately i could still do it. we all joined hands and i floated a little to show them how it was done. some responded well but others didnt manage it so i took them seperately and encouraged them to just jump up and down on the spot and concentrate on a feeling of floating, and just that if they know they can do it, then they will. i showed them how to just tuck there legs up and they started to get it. there was also a foreign guy who when i taught him just said something like 'ohh projection yes' like he knew what was going on :D
back in the classroom i needed something to confirm the dream so i looked at the teacher and her eyes turned into cartoon type eyes. ive never had anything cartoon like in a normal dream so this was a nice surprise. she introduced herself as willow w something and i shook her hand which cemented the dream and my lucidity. i remember looking at everyone and noticing that i could see a pale white aura around everyone, with a white patch above some peoples heads. also there was an authoratative type guy there who was very interested in what was going on. he introduced himself as eric pickles. i knew the name but could not place it. i found out today that eric is a uk mp, and i was reading some posts by a guy named pickle yesterday so that is probably where that came from.
meanwhile the girl who had wanted to fly was fading out of the picture but straining to stay in the dream. i put my hands on her back and tried to bring her back. i encouraged her to rub her face and her body and this seemed to make her look solid again and fully back into the dream. some of the girls were worried for her, but i assured them it was ok. whe she was back, she went outside and started flying around like crazy which was awesome to see. i joined her and flew about nature for a bit, feeding birds and stuff.
i think thats all the key points but the order is probably a bit out as i had a gap between dreaming and write up. must remember to stabilise before changing environments.. the only thing that makes me wonder if it actually could have been a partially shared dream is that when teaching people, it made it so much harder to stay in the dream, and really felt like i was lending them energy. still experimenting and awaiting any kind of confirmation that dreams have any relevance to reality though... i left an image on the whiteboard and told them to use it if any of them remembered anything :D

This by far one of my favorite posts in this whole thread.
I have had similar experiences.
The most recent was a while back though. I was dreaming I was a a wolf running through the forest ( a common one for me), when I woke up in my dream into another (its more often than not how I end up lucid.) I don't recall how it started but I was talking to someone who had the appearance of a mounty (RCMP) officer, red tunic, the boots etc, and I was explaining to him about my dream, then proceeded to explain about lucid dreaming in some detail, it took about 20 mins or so, about the ins and outs of lucid dreaming. How to do it, things to try while doing it, how to get out, how to stay when fading etc. a rather lengthy description anyhow.
At the end of which he looked at me with complete seriousness and with a awed but somehow also calm demeanor
"You have the blood of a wolf".
Which must have completely threw me as I woke up into reality at this point wit total clarity of the dream. " I sat upright in bed going "WTF?" "Blood of a wolf" "whats that supposed to mean?" it stayed with me too, even now I have near total recall of it.
Having total recall in/of my dreams is becoming very common but fortunately I'm still able to differentiate between the the dream-state memories I'm acquiring and 3d ones. Some dreams I have that are recurring are like alternate lives I seem to have lived years in them. Its a strange feeling to remember them like that.

hey ash good to c ya. cheers for sharing. had an amazingly creepy one last night, which i cannot go fully into as it will take ages, but i dont think i have ever had such a weird one where i didnt even really care about how odd it was. like i was there and present but slightly detached so i could analyse it semi rationally. all i will say was that it involved some kind of creepy hypnotist guy who ran a pub in manchester that has often been in my dreams(m3). and the whole thing was like i was looking at a memory. i was not lucid once, yet i spent the whole of it analysing the dream to myself and others. it ended with me looking for my shoes so i could go outside to join noel fielding in his garden looking at the yellow birds, and salmon and rays that were swimming around in a massive puddle :p plus for a nice change, the police were actually there to protect me in the dream. and the policewoman being extremely hot didnt hurt either.
missed a big dreamsign (tropical birds/animals) so thats a big slap on the wrist, although being lucid didnt really matter because i got further than ever to an understanding of this extremely recurring theme/location...

Could be one of your animal past lives.
Do you tend to be a more serious individual as compared to others in, say, your work group? That's a wolf-personality (http://www.animaltotem.com/wolf.html).
Drawn to or emanating the qualities of duty & honour are what makes an individual a wolf-personality. I work with a man like that. All serious all the time. But he gets the job done. Also think of the character Wharf from ST:TNG which I can compare this quality to.

Hi guys, i'm just new to this site and while browsing through the sections, i found this very interesting thread. It seems that some of you here are experienced and knowledgeable in terms of dreams.
So i have a question, is it possible for a group of people to have or to be present in the same dream at the same time?

hello tichrius welcome to the forum and thread. ive never confirmed it for myself, but the more advanced dreamers that i have been learning from all suggest that it is completely possible, although there may be some slight differences in interpretation. also all of the shamanic cultures use shared visions in their practices. from what i understand it will only really be possible to confirm it if both/all of the people involved are experienced dreamers who have no problems being conscious in dreams and remembering their dreams.
there is some great info on shared dreaming over at dreamviews.com
was it just a curiosity of yours, or are you asking about possible experiences you have had?

Ever have a dream that is not only so real, but then someone in your dream says something that triggers memories of another equally real dream you had with the same people in it, in the same location, just changed through time, years ago? Are these really dreams or parallel memories?

all the time it does my head in! ive often thought they are somehow a parallel reality, but i suppose you could say that of all dreams. my current idea is that it is simply how you put it. that it triggers memories of past dreams that you have had, but been completely unconscious of until the trigger. spooky aint it.
none of mine have ever really reached a conclusion though, and although they often really feel like i am revisiting parts of a possible past life, they all take place in areas that bear a similarity to my current surroundings.
i revisited a beautiful place in a dream last night. it was just a load of old cottages, but they were built in the woods, underneath trees that dwarfed everything, yet let the most beautiful green light through them. somehow i related it to a nice area of my town, that currently looks nothing like that though really  :o. it made me laugh because some of the cottages were so small that i joked that i wouldnt have had a chance of lying down in them to go to sleep :D

I have quite a few times in the past but sporadically, though within the last few months since about early December it has become quite common and seems to be increasing in frequency, not quite every time but often enough.

It certainly is quite strange, it is one thing to recall memories while consciously aware you are dreaming but then recalling other dreams does some very odd things in my experience, like activating programs for wanted effects.
One of the more odd ones I mentioned in another thread and that is recurring dreams of restoring The Avebury Complex, to its original undesecrated state (removal of all buildings and roads from within the temple and the wider area and the replacing of all missing or damaged stones), its either a future event or a parallel dream reality or at least that is how it comes across, I have memories that seem to go back years (in dream-state) almost like another life, I do not know if this is what some refer to as astral as to my knowledge I have not yet experienced this. I would like to think it a portent of a future event as its a very convincing and wonderful reality/dimension/etc to be in.

I experienced this already a couple of times before and i tell you it really scares the hell out of me. It is like a very strange and awkward event and it totally puzzles out your mind.
By the way I have started jotting down my dreams in notebook and i now call it the "Dream Log". Every morning just right after i wake up, i would try my best to recall and record the dreams that i had during my sleep. It helps me keep track of my dreams or at least have an overview as to what is happening in my subconscious. I'm looking forward to analyzing these logs in the future in the hope of finding a trend or creatively making something out of it.

It's so weird! I think that's the first time it happened - at least that I can recall. I've had those experiences where the dream continues from where it left off, either the next night or ages after, but known at the time that it was doing so. In this dream I was like "Sh**, yeah! Why didn't I recognise this place?" and I remember being aware that I was dreaming, and that I'd dreamed of that place years before, and that years had passed in the dream world; the lucid part pleased me somewhat, as I rarely remember my dreams, due to me having a terribly erratic sleep cycle, so I like when I remember them, and especially when I'm aware I'm dreaming, which is rarer still. I'm not sure of the relevance of the place to me, which is why I wonder if it's 'just' a glimpse into a parallel life :)

Hi peeps...
Awesome thread this one, I've been reading over the last few days and picking up some good tips from you all.. hoping to have a lucid dream, as I've not had one since I was very young.. which is many years ago now.
@ whiterain - your posts are very interesting and quite funny at times, you seem to dream a lot about school environments! :D
I've been consciously trying to start lucid dreaming myself and have started remembering dreams and doing reality checks throughout my normal day. This is a great technique, one I didn't know about before reading through this forum and this morning it finally paid off.. as I had a lucid (very short) dream.
First thing I remember clearly was looking down at a large tree canopy / forest and I could see a route through that had daylight streaming in through a clearing. So I started flying through the trees towards the opening... as I went through the clearing there were these sections that became a framework or something and they looked like they had glass in them... so I became scared thinking I was going to break the glass and got ready for impact. I then bounced through one of the openings, only to find out there was no glass.. and I veered off sharply at a very strange angle and hit a wall that appeared from nowhere and bounced off that too!
At this point I thought to myself... "hey, that's impossible!", which was closely followed by next major realization, that I must be dreaming... so cool! :) At this point the dream came sharply into focus and clarity... like someone focusing a camera.. such a weird, but nice feeling. I then thought "stay calm ... remember what the others said" ... I tried continuing to fly, but the excitement was too much and I awoke after a few more seconds.
Here is where it got interesting... as, a bit like whiterain has been explaining, I closed my eyes and tried to will myself back into a lucid state. I've never done this before, but it worked... it was like a weird sensation of pushing through a gray layer of consciousness, then the dream came into focus in a similar way as before and I was back in a lucid dream; part 2!
This time there was a big bridge straight in front of me and my perspective was that of flying over the bridge (long ways), which I started to do... it was almost like a training program from the Matrix lol... unfortunately at this point my wife and baby son suddenly entered the bedroom with much noise and I awoke for the last time, into today.
What really stood out to me from this great experience was the way the dreams came into focus, the in-control aspects and indeed the possibility of being able to control the entry and re-entry to these lucid states.
Felt the need to share this... glad to have found these forums and all your help on this interesting area of discovery; thanks! ;)

hey thats superb wildstyle always good to have a natural round here. so glad we could be of service. if you have a go at some stabilising techniques then you should be able to lengthen them next time. try just rubbing your hands together, or quickly touching as many things as you can. bear in mind though that these things will deepen the dream too which can make it so realistic you forget its a dream. you have to try to find a balance between making it stable, and giving yourself a constant reminder that you are dreaming. what has worked well before for me is to do some stabilisation by looking at everything closely but not dwelling on one item, then to act as a constant reminder, i float with my legs tucked up. flying is one thing that can quickly destabilise you, but also one of the hardest things to avoid doing. ive found if you do a few little spins whenever you find yourself fading, it can really help to fly longer. any tips you would like to add on how to get back into them would be greatly appreciated. i keep on getting back into the dreams, but this week they are not always lucid... if you have just willed yourself back in then thats great, it can be that simple really and you're away

I've come to believe that dreams are actually really happening. Obviously, not in terms we view in this reality, but it is happening on some level. Babies and toddlers sleep so much more because they are young and still more attached to the spirit side. When we sleep more or want to sleep more, there is something on the spirit side we need to deal with or desire to attach to. When we reach the point we don't need to sleep as much, we have fully anchored in this reality to learn whatever it is we need to. Just my two cents.

I'm no expert, but I think this is just confirmation that you are aware that there is more going on than appears. It's like a kick in pants, a way of saying, YO, wake up, I know there's more, now what?!

wbtb-indirect techniques
i was having a little party at my house and then a load of gatecrashers turned up. i was in the porch struggling to keep them out. something to do with my cousin being friends with my uni mates made me catch on and become lucid. once i was lucid i just decided to open the door and face the attack. they just kind of went through me and faded away. i could feel it wouldnt last that long as it was a bit noisy in my house. there was a classic ibiza house style tune playing so i just danced for a bit to celebrate my return to lucidity and getting over a vivid nightmare scenario.
later on i wasnt lucid but still managed to explain to a group of mates in a pub, the whole debt scam and how to avoid payments. then we were all in libya (watching too much news) and escorted around the place in an armoured vehicle. somehow we were standing in for gaddafi or something. i remember thinking that this was a plan to get rid of me, so should use this fear as a dreamsign.
there were plants and vegetables growing on the side of the road. i didnt stand up for gaddafi but still explained that compared to our leaders who destroy all sorts of countries around the world, he probably wasnt even as bad. there was an amazing carrier green eagle type thing which transfixed me as my mates ran for cover .

had first stable dild for a while. went straight to practising how to get to the lucid crossroads. tried just going through doors and hoping that the other side was where i expected. first just tried a door, no luck. then tried a fancy door and it almost worked but the picture on the other side became solid. then i tried to draw a door on a wall and try to use that. just found a bit of chalk and scratched a door onto a wall, still no luck. i even tried explaining to everyone what i was doing in case they could help, but no luck. then i tried to teleport by going through a mirror. it worked better than all the doors, and almost got me though to my destination but it was a bit shaky and hard to fully manifest it. all in all good focussed practice though, and next time ill nail the mirror technique hopefully .

awesome series of lucids/semis last night. i think the lucids may only have started on a slight awakening. i was flying when i woke, so all i tried to do was to forget about my real body and put all my focus into aggressively swimming through the air with my dream body. this worked brilliantly and i was back flying. the most memorable parts were being in school and preparing for a dance-off. somehow winning respect off lots of younger students. dont remember dancing though... then i was going on a night out/festival with mel and ryan, very old friends from school. after that i thought i had woken up in the dream. mel was on telly and i was saying how it was odd that i had dreamt about her and here she was on telly........ anyway i think she was getting famous for singing or something although on the tv she was being played by this older wag type lady.... i went to the computer to see if it was actually her. this was a very odd and long little false awakening so i must do more to remember to check where i am when waking and especially when recounting a dream as i often seem to do this in non lucid falsies... hmm alot more been forgotten.. may add more... .

just a quicky-managed to breaka vivid nightmare where my house had been taken over by a gang who were using it as a base. just before i tried to go for help, i thought hmmm what if even this could be another dream? i didnt believe it was at all though as i was sat in front of the computer as real as i am now. the lucid moment didnt lead to a lucid dream this time though, just woke me up which was a good enough relief anyway.
i also got very close to some good wilds. funny thing was i didnt care about staying still at all. just rolling around and breathing deeply getting closer and closer to sleep while just observing what was going on quite passively .

I might have written about this before, but I have had dreams where I remembered them days after, and sometimes I was able to return to them. When I went to bed, I was always exited about maybe revisiting one of those dreams I had before. Sometimes it even seem like I had so much control of my lucid dreams that I could just think about it before going to sleep, and then end up back in that dream, dreaming it again but trying to do something different.
Some of the dreams did have an amazing amount of detail. Some in strange houses that I do not know where I could have had the inspiration from and stuff like that. Especially one house which seemed very colorful. I think before I ended up in that dream I had been trying to wake up for a while. But I just woke up, in another dream, looking around for a while until I found that I was still just dreaming. But some of those wake up dreams did seem like they had too much detail that I could remember, that made it too vivid in ways. Even though I was aware it was a dream.

mostly a semi lucid this one. went down to london to a place that was apparently westminster abbey. except it dodnt look anything like it, which reminded me of visiting similar places in london before. the architecture in my dreams is just mind blowing. i could just sit and look at the buildings for hours. even though they all seem to be kind of royal themed, which isnt my thing, its almost like the history is woven into the tapestry of the buildings design, and just a quick glance tells you so much of the story somehow. a bit like how the pharoahs and their stories are woven into the temples of egypt i suppose. it really reminded me of being in a square in lodon in a dream years ago which is such an amazing feeling, even if the whole realness and royal dominant theme is ever so slightly disturbing. anyway westminster abbey looked far different as if it was made by hand from mud thousands of years ago. symbolism which i didnt really pay attention to was all overt he thing and the bit i remember was like a huge coin/seal type thing underneath a large window.
inside was a kind of gathering going on. it started off as a catholic mass type event, then progressed into an african style dance, then into a full on drum and bass rave. the mass was weird just for the hypnotic effect it had. everyone was doing this slow waving of theyre arms in the air, and even my dad was joining in who is even less religious than me. i took the piss a bit, but wasnt threatened by it so remained mostly respectful to these weird ceremonies. at one point in the rave this weird guy was going round telling people to quiet/sit down which was odd. he was still dancing so i took the piss and went over to him and told him to sit down like he had been doing. this got a laugh and we just started to dance really weirdly. like a floating robot dance  later on the setting switched back to my house. i was with ug and we were laughing about the similarity between some church events and good old rave parties. god is a dj and all that shite. a bit like this video

in fact i even remember doing some of the mcing from this vid in the dream :P the dream ended with my floating round my house in semi lucid state as the party wound down. i remember seeing some more amazing architecture and relaying my past dream to some people so its another dream within a dream fail for me which i must work on. rc rc rc!

prelucidbefore i was lucid i was in this bar/shop. it was like tescos crossed with my old local the bull. people were working and i was training. all i remember was that it seemed odd that it was all sales based when the only real work to do was cleaning. unfortuately i spen a good few minutes of the dream cleaning up tescos :cheeky: i remember that someone was growing fruit so i told them they should come and see my roof garden (real) where ive got raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, currrants etc growing. when it felt more like a bar there was an old friend there who i got on well with. she was friendly as ever and it was all going well. when she left momuntarily my mate JC asked me about her. i just said something like 'well its always been a kind of 60:40 thing between us really. he then went 'oops shes right there' and she was right behind me. this upset her and she stormed out.
i followed to explain what i meant even though i wasnt entirely sure myself. she seemed to think that i was just rating my chances of a shag to my mate, but it wsnt like that at all. i explained that it was more like because we were always in different places, i had never rated the chances of it happening until then. this didnt help and because i had hold of her gently, i t must have seemed like i was the bad guy to these passing 3 blokes. they started to attack me with whatever they had (golf clubs) but i immediately recognised the main attacker as an old school friend. i told him it ws me but it didnt help!! he kept on hitting me and i could feel it a bit, but it didnt bother me. i managed to get hold of one of the clubs and miraculously took out the 2 others with one throw. this just brought further spite from the rest of the bar crowd and they all circled on me. the growing unease made me really assess my surroundings in a heightened fight or flight manner. it slowly dawned on me that i was just in an internal vision of my fears creating
lucid part this was finally enough to send me lucid. it was very tough though, and i feared that in the face of all this, i would just wake sraight away if i allowed myself to believe in the dream. somehow i managed to stabilise while getting lucid otherwise in wouldnt have worked. i looked at my mate (DM) and told him it was just a dream. he said it wasnt (or stronger words :D) but i tried to show him. finger through palm failed miserably as it was already too stable for that. instead i just floated above the bar so the whole pub could catch on.
I was in a very crowded pub, so it was tricky to just ignore people amd do my own thing. this didnt matter though as floating in front of the bar was enough to prove that it was a dream to eveyone. plus luckily it seemed to help them to forgive me for whatever happened with the girl. i stabilised by rubbing my hands on the bar and peering round at everything quickly. they all responded well and asked me how they could stabilise it. once it was solid enough i said to DM that i was going outside for a quick fly. he joined me. along with a massive stream of people who flowed out of the pub. it was raining so i had the beautiful experience of stabilising a dream with the coolness of the rain. i took off and about 10 people took off from below me. a little mid air spin helped to make the flight so stable. normally i dont even get to land, but this was different. this is only the 2nd time i remember flying with other people, and the sight of them taking off below me was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. i pretty much cried with joy, then flew around with a mate like superman. in fact i think he had a superman top on at one point.
back on the ground in the galleria, and DM saw a video game he wanted to play. i warned him that if he got too into it, the dream may fade. i said if there was any chance that the real him may remember it, that he should just concentrate on remembering it should he feel it fading. i spoke to another mate, then turned round and DM was gone. i found him playing ping pong a second later though. I spoke to Luke and asked him if he was a lukid dreamer. he said of course, so i just repeated that if he may remember it to get in touch.
back in the pub and it seemed that a whole new bunch were up for some fliyng. i took them outside and there was a group of girls who i just explained to that they just have to try learning to float first. one girl jumped up then floated back down and bumped her ass :) it was funny but i could see she was trying so i held her hand and gave her a slight boost. she was fine after that and started floating around.
i floated past another mate of mine CS. greeted him by his full name and told him i thought i had seen another old mate nearby. we went over to meet AjG and it was him with his crazy beard under some kind of helmet. it seemed he was part of some protest, although it was impossible to tell the police from the protestors. i'd like to think this was a good future sign. i hugged him and he shook me around the big ol crazy bastard. this was finally enough to destabilise the dream, although for once i knew this was going to happen so i managed to stay completely still. it didnt help much and i felt little conection to the dream after waking so gave up on the deild attempt and ran downstairs to post this. i dont think it helped the deild attempt that i woke up completely on my front. i felt no vibes or anything although by this time its likely that i had used up my lucid energy if thats possible :D

another one that ranged from odd and threatening to warm and loving
a bizzare but fun one today. starts with being in some big hall with a lot of people there. one really odd character was throwing mince at people and then started to become more violent and throwing chairs and things. it seemed he was gonna hurt someone so we decided that we had to do something. i got a chair and we chased him. eventually cornering him, i stuck the chair over his neck pinning him down. he turned out to be made of mince ( i guess this all may be something to do with eating alot less meat lately?). he kept escaping so finally i put him in a bag and told a mate to go and put him in the freezer. after a while i asked him what he had done with him and he said he had put him back in his room, but only in a bag. i said he will only escape again so we went back to his room and he had just put him in a bag in his drawer which made me crack up laughing. anyway he was just a pile of mince by now so no longer any threat :P it was hilarious to me so i recounted this story to the people there, starting off with you wont believe this because its so stupid but im going to tell you anyway...
there was a bit earlier where i was back at my old football club, and this girl asked me if i remembered her. i knew i knew her from an epic holiday dream i had about a month or two back, but this didnt get me lucid yet. somewhere along the time when i was telling the story of the mince man, it became clear that i was dreaming. it wasnt the clearest lucid, but it was based in a holiday party dream, so my tasks just went out of the window as i tried to just stabilise it enough to make it last longer and just go with the flow of the dream. in my mates room there were 2 girls (ors, marm) dancing in a wardrobe, and even though it looked too small in there, i thought i had to get in on that. we danced for a bit then it felt like time to move onto another part of the holiday. everything just felt so loving, like we were all on the same wavelength and there were no issues between anybody that we could all just share all this fun together. i got told that i seemed to have so much life, and as this was from someone with plenty of it themselves it just felt so nice and reassuring. ive definately had alot more energy lately and went on an amazingly long ride yesterday without getting at all tired. i definately feel that dreams can somehow effect your real life energy because sometimes they drain me whereas recently they have just energised me.
i found a mate who had the key to our apartment. (by this time i was semi lucid, but lucid enough to remember to keep stabilising) i put the key in my wallet and walked off into the dream with the 2 girls. i remember dropping the key and then finding it again, but sadly like too many other dreams, do not remember getting back to the apartment, and just remember partying with the crowds of people there. the only dream goal i really got to do was just walking around practising trying to find the things and people that i was looking for at the time. this was pretty successful and all in all a pretty amazing lucid that was one of the first times where i didnt have to trade off between the epicness of the dream, and my lucidity in it. :)

im not too informed on this subject, and was just wondering, are 'night terrors' similar to 'lucid dreaming'
i suffered what i assume was a night of night terrors a few months back, i was 24 at the time and was so scared, that i slept on the couch for the next couple of nights (and im not ashamed to admit that....well maybe a little ha)
im just wondering, if i had more experience with lucid dreaming, would i have been able to 'conquer' the demons of my terrors, and be able to turn the nightmare into a more pleasurable (less terrifying) experience?

Night terrors refer to an unpleasant dream while lucid dreaming refers to being 'awake' in your dream or aware that your dreaming. If you become lucid during a 'night terror' then you will have the power of knowing what you see is your own creative illusion. You will know nothing can hurt you. Keeping lucid long enough to consciously change your dream into a positive or neutral environment can take some practice as the fear will have you in a state of panic. Trick is to remain calm when you do realize your dreaming. Sometimes I do the 'neo holding out hands to stop the bullets' kinda action and just pause the dream...freeze time. But you pick up your own unique technique :D

cheers for the response
it may come in useful if i ever suffer from night terrors again.
the becoming aware that your in a dream trick may take some practise, as the night terrors i had, were very clear and very life like, right down to being able to physically feel the things that were happening to me.
it FELT (in every sense of the word) as real as reality. Would be very useful, to actually KNOW its a dream, so i can then take charge of the situation

hi meoven if you want to go down the route of becoming aware in your dreams then ill try and help if you fill me in mate. i got onto lucid dreaming through some bizzare night terror episodes that shocked me into realising what was possible in dreams. and its really not a big jump from being terrified in dreams, to being lucid and comfortable and enjoying them massively. it may even be that you are already quite aware and this is what causes the fear because its just something that we are not used to so dont worry about it. one of the most oddly worrying moments in my life was the first time i got lucid in an astral experience as an adult. realising that you have the power to shape your entire inner world seems like an amazing thing, but when you are not expecting it, its a hell of a responsibility to be thrust upon you. almost as if we go through life happy not being in full control, yet when we realise theat we have the control and the responsibility that goes with it, its a shock and something that takes some getting used to. let us know how its going and ill see if i can point you in the right direction

been having some epic dreams lately. the kind where throughout the day you just get images of whole new scenes that you had forgotten. feels like they last so much longer than ive been asleep for but the mind plays tricks.
the only thing ive been doing differently is as i go to bed, i just try and mentally map as many of the places i have been to in dreams that i can remember. i just picture myself going from location to location and it seems to really sink in. ive revisited at least 10 amazing dreams/places in the last week or so.
i even remember explaining to someone where all these places are and then taking them on tours. the most memorable place recently is this massive lake in london. the lake is often an aquarium with whales, dolphins even sharks etc, and is half enclosed by parkland and half surrounded by shops and bars. i remember telling someone that its close to covent garden but its location seems to move alot as most dreams will.
its just phenominal how well they all link up to real places, and how long it took me to realise this and the amazing slap in the face i got when i realised that i kept going back to these places that are so closely linked to reality.

still having really long rambling semi lucid dreams. i keep getting lucid, but never for long enough to acheive anything because the dreams are so crowded with people that i get distracted all the time. main bits i remember last night are flying with a few other people, and practising for it by jumping repeatedly without actually touching the ground. this was because i could somehow feel this electric charge like feeling which seemed to be powering flying. it seemed like these jumps were somehow charging the ability to fly.
they sill all have school/holiday type vibes and last night one ended with me trying to get to an old mates birthday party.
also ive been having a recurring dream i had forgotten in which i have a false awakening, and tihnking im awake, i explain the previous dream to whoever is there, but i am so absolutley 100% sure that it happened somewhere sometime that it almost hurts. probably just memories of past dreams that make themselves feel real when you are still dreaming.
its been very odd lately because i thought that i had never forgotten being lucid in a dream before, because usually its towards the morning and i will wake up and recall it. however lately ive been remembering throughout the day little moments where i had been lucid the previous night. makes me wonder what else i could have forgotten ;)

couple of very short lucids this morning, thanks to finally being able to drag my ass out of bed early for a good wbtb. first one i was walking through a tube station in london and a friend walked past who ignored me when i called her. this got me lucid but i failed to stabilise it.
second one i was in my front room and there was a parrot/kakapo ( major dreamsign) on the windowledge outside. it was feeding its chicks and suddenly they all burst into the room which was pretty awesome. they went back out and i looked at them and the youngsters turned into different kinds of birds which got me curious, then when one of them became a tortoise it was pretty clear it ws a dream. again though i failed to stabilise because im a bit out of practice, but it was a great dream and further proof that its fairly simple to get lucid as along as i make the effort

gladly back to some epic dreams with some stable lucid periods too. one i remember was just sitting on a big square area with other people and just using senses to explore the space without moving and just trying to stay there for as long as i could. only felt a couple of minutes but it was more stable than other recent lucid bits. i remember saying to a friend 'so even if there was any possibility of us sharing a dream, i bet you would never get in touch to check would you? no one wants to be the one to sound crazy...'
an epic work/school based on last night. based around a vending machine type thing which i had to scan into to get my stuff to pack and deliver. had the numbers switch and move around but i still battled on unlucid for a while. the main theme of the dream was once again authority figures misusing their power and me trying to get out of it and change it but this time was a bit different. this time it was call me dave cameron  blended with some old bosses of mine. he had done or said something that was completely out of line and i was trying to catch him out somehow. trying to do it without resorting to violence although i do remember squeezing him/something in my hands to show it that it had no real power.
i remember asking people how i could go about sorting it and one answer i remember from a neighbours character was basically just that i had to become like my own lawyer and learn the law for myself in order to beat these guys. for once a dc talked absolute sense :D was good to have one of these dreams and be conscious enough to actively go about changing the whole situation for the better, rather than just avoid it or run away. even if i wasnt lucid enough to realise non of it mattered, perhaps i just need to see it through. in past dreams i definately remember having a room where it feels like you just cant go into because your bosses are some kind of inhuman monsters, but in this one there was no fear only a brief recollection of past similar moments and then i definately went in although sadly cant really remember what happened when i did.. perhaps thats when i squeezed cam,, i dont know

Cheers for sharing your experiences whiterain.
I only ever really had night terrors the once, It was at a time of my life, when I was really depressed and incredibly stressed.
Since, my life has improved somewhat (or at least my frame of mind has).
Recently, I feel I've been having dreams that were pretty mundane but also quite pleasant.
One of my main issues is I can never actually remember any of my dreams.
When I do have a dream that I can stay in for longer than a few seconds, I am going, to try and influence it in some small way, just as a 'see what you can do when you put your mind to it'.
I'm hoping from there I can increase the changes I make to bigger things, until fully submersed in a lucid dream

no problem its my favourite subject. writing down anything you do remember will help you to learn how to remember more in future i think. memory is an odd thing though. sometimes you just know you had a dream but cant figure out for the life of you what it was. glad to hear that your positive frame of mind is showing in your dreams. sometimes it blows me away just how deep the link is between things that happen to you in reality and how they are reflected in the dream world. heres a short non lucid form this morning
did a long wbtb this morning 730-900 and woke up with that vague memory of having an amazing dream yet absolutely nothing coming to me at the time. hours later i remember the most amazing part of it. i was just driving locally and went through a local town (st albans). its an old roman town (verulamium) and it was like i was driving around it during roman times. there is a cathedral there now, but in the dream it was attached to this amazing vatican like mass of official looking buildings. it was probably all a bit too fancy to be like roman buildings actually were, but just the scale and the grandness of it all were so impressive. it was all enclosed and the road went straight through the complex through loads of arches and tunnels. the last thing i remember was driving through a tunnel and down into a labrynth type thing

a really lengthy stable semi lucid last night. felt like a good few hours at least. it was based in this area i have been before which is like a cross between manchester, london and a holiday resort. there was even a mix of manc friends home friends and my brother was there too.
it was all based around trying to get into this waterpark club type thing which is a common theme these days. i needed shorts to go there and luckily i had been wearing shorts the day before and still had them on in my dream. this isnt the first time ive been wearing that days clothes in a dream... anyway my mates all got into this park. to get in there were 3 stories and lifts taking you up. all the lifts but one only took you up to the 2nd floor but you needed to get to the top to get into the club/park. i got up to the second floor with my bro but then he got in the next lift which was tiny and had to be hand pulled. i remember getting a funny look from someone when i tried to stop this crazy lift to get on, by pressing the wrong buttons. there were loads of them and how was i to know ;). 4 people were in it and it was full so i couldnt go. rather than wait around i tried to find alternate routes. i asked this girl how i could get there, struggling to get out the words to explain what i meant. i managed though and she complimented me and tried to help. we were off walking round this plaza trying to find another way in when i got a bit sidetracked.
i spent most of the rest of the dream going round in a quad/go cart style thing, looking for something but losing track of what i was looking for. there were loads of other people in weird little remote control type cars too which was odd, but they were all waiting in line and driving like it was a real road with laws while i was just having fun. it was like one of those vehicles i always get in dreams where you just have to pull the front up a bit and it will go. ive had this with airbed/lilo type things in the past and its a great way to travel. next time iwill have to try out a magic carpet because i imagine its pretty much the same effect. i will get to that fcking waterpark. ive been in before but never very lucidly and never really managed to get on the monstrous rides they have there. there is one bit i have been to alot though where there is a diving platform above these 4 pools. i think in the past when i have dived off into these pools, they often take you away into another part of the dream

Thats funny, Sh3lly. I have been thinking the same thing for awhile now, that dreams are something we are still experiencing, whether we are conscience or not. There is so much to those realms that remains an enigma.
Lots of times, I have become very lucid in the midst of my dreams and took flight, usually when something big is chasing me :D Everything is heightened, my sense of touch, smell and taste. My body is light, I can talk with others who are very lucid as well. There is something much more to this for sure, I feel.

That's exactly how I like to think too :D
I really feel in my gut that I've been somewhere or done something important to me on the other side while sleeping.
I have a question about lucid dreams. The past year, whenever I realize I'm dreaming, everything goes blank. I can't seem to hold on to the place I'm in or manifest a new place. Before last year it was totally fine and I was able to be relatively stable when lucid dreaming. Any ideas about what's up?

you could try quickly touching whatever is near you in the dream as soon as you realise. just concentrating on any of your dream senses helps stabilise and touch works the best for me. probably because it is so weird to feel how real everything is. concentrating visually can help too, and also tasting things is supposed to be really helpful. ive never used sound to stabilise, but ive woken up from a dream with a song in my head and managed to get back to the dream by visualising the song and the situation again. only once mind but it was pretty mindblowing

on the opposite side anything that turns your attention to your real body and senses will destabilise it. so the more comfortable, quiet and dark your room is will help you keep your attention focussed :)
the period straight after waking up is the best time to try for a lucid. your body will still be easy to get back to sleep but your mind will have woken up a bit and be a bit sharper. even if you dont get lucid the chances are when you go back to bed you will have vivid dreams. try just sitting up in bed for a minute or 2 then going back to bed, or i had a good one the other morning by waking up for over an hour then going back to sleep. obviously gets more difficult the longer you leave it, but it is the simplest way to trick yourself into lucidity

last nights mini adventure
really weird one last night where i was at this agency type facility place ive been to often but never that consciously. what i remember was that we all sat through 3 screenings of this video, but for some reason it felt like a wasnt allowed to really be conscious for the first 2 and only really remember running up and jumping on this cushion i was holding and sitting down to watch the film on the 3rd screening, yet none of the film content whatsoever.
later on i had a moment where i was rearranging the posters on my wall and was shocked when i realised on waking up that they were all still in the same place. really felt like i had got up to do it in the night. then i got a bit contemplative in the dream and really emotional for no reason at all. it felt like i really needed a big cry to release some shit that has built up, but even the thought of crying made me feel really happy, like crying was just my way of letting off some steam and a way that i could be in control of my emotions. may try to actually have a crying session sometime, but its hard when you feel so different to how i did in the dream

little lucid latest
we got a rescued horse in my dream last night (from melody?). it came in a carry case like a guitar, and would just sleep whenever it was in there. when you open it up, which i kept doing to make sure it wouldnt suffocate, it would just stand up and follow you around. i remember leading it down the stairs and holding it up which was tough because it was a big bugger. i took it out to the garden and starter preparing to take it out for a night time ride. i had a mini vision of what would happen if the horse reared up and attacked me, and somehow i thought i would just push it away :D. was looking for stuff like a helmet when the horse ate a strawberry plant from the garden and died. i was devastated but a moment later there was this little furry creature in the garden like a cross between a cartoon gremlin and that little bug eyed thing from futurama. my brother caught it and it made me so happy because it made it clear that this was a dream and the horse hadnt just died from our neglect.
i was so happy that i didnt really use the lucidity for much other than to explain to others around that it was a dream. some guy took the piss out of me saying how much of a fucked up dream i was having. i just responded that i bet he had dreamed some crazy shit too at some point and i guess he agreed. again just a second before i remembered all this, it really felt that i couldnt remember any dreams, the suddenly it all comes back in one lump. gutted i never got to ride the horse. its made me think that night time riding would be a really nice thing to do

epic headfuck party
one of the strangest and best/worst experiences of my life last night. based around my family putting on a surprise party for my last birthday. it seemed like they felt i needed cheering up and went about it in the most bizarre manner possible. i managed to get up pretty early today and went to the toilet and came back to bed for a good wbtb. i started a visualisation and for once was pretty foccussed and able to carry on the visualisation for longer than usual. this is probably the main reason i had perhaps the most stable, aware and lengthy lucid ive ever had. the whole thing could easily have gone on for a few hours with me slipping into lucidity for at least half of it i would guess. as i got into the dream i had a little fun with an old friend then it all kicked off.
onto the weirdness. the most strange part of the whole thing was everyones reactions to me at the party. it was the most crazy mix of praise and scorn that you could ever imagine. some people were treating me like a king while others were actually trying to physically beat me. i was being handed all sorts of drinks and other things to so many of the hazier moments were very hazy, but i think these mostly were the times when i was receiving the negative attention. at times my face felt pretty battered, yet towards the end i was aware enough to rationally talk to any attacker and just calmly talk them down from their position of aggression. especially this one skinhead maniac who i didnt recognise. i faced him and felt like ripping his head off at first but i stopped myself and tried to show him the benefits of compassion. one bizarre form of humiliation they did was tying something like a childs buggy to my foot. the while party had a hazing feel to it like i was somehow being initiated into something beyond my understanding. perhaps its just learning to deal with things calmy when i seems like half the world is on your case.
the opppsite of this was the praise i was getting from the people who were there that i did know. i must have recognised a good 50- 100 people out of the 500 odd who were there. then out of them i must have had good conversations with at least 20-40 of them. most of them just random flirting, but some very memorable moments. in one i was explaining to my mate just how crazy it was that he was here in my dream, yet every single one of his mannerisms was so perfect that it was creepy. also towards the end of the party my mate who is over in the usa turned up and we had a good chat. onto the lucidity.
i think the first time i got lucid was after we took a little excursion from the party. it was like an all weekender and we were taken off to camp in this park north of where i live. it must have been pretty far north as it was arctic conditions yet completely comfortable weather wise. the reason we had come out this way was to see some polar bears. as one came round the corner it was looking like it was a bit too close for comfort. people were getting scared so we tried to scare it away by waving arms and shouting loudly at it. not sure whether it was good idea but it seemed to back off for a bit. the stand off went on for a bit unti eventually i thought 'hold on how many polar bears do you know who go around in a big parker jacket'. they all reacted like i was onto them, in a jokey way, and i think the bear turned out to be a party rep in a costume. i was carrying a heavy camera and a gust of wind nearly blew me and the camera off the iceberg while i was chatting to JaC. of course by now it was pretty obvious that it was a dream but there was further confirmation in the park. there were massive lakes around, yet they didnt conform to the laws of physics. if a lake was on a slope then it would follow the shape of the hill and not pool at the bottom like water would. ive seen this before in dreams and its a great sign that you're nowhere near reality.
im never really comfortable being the centre of attention, although part of me probably likes it a little, so when they were doing all these announcements and singing happy birthday etc i was just asking for it all to stop because it was too much. even people that i dont think like me very much in reality were coming up to me and kissing me. when they sang happy birthday a small group of people did what looked like nazi salutes. this pissed me off so i tried to find out wtf was going on, but it didnt seem like i would get any answers so i just dropped it. this weird mix carried on for ages and eventually even the police became involved. this felt to me like it was because of drugs going round the party, but for some reason the police would not come in and raid it, but would only attack people who tried to leave for some odd reason.
at times the dream would fade yet i didnt need any fancy stabilising techniques at all. i just refocussed my mind slightly and that was all it took. on the one occasion i nearly woke up i just visualised by flying by flapping around and having that feeling of almost raising myself out of my body and i was back in the dream. this became handy because when i tried to explore other parts of the dream the police would attack so i would just float up to a level where i was out of reach. again this was one of those ones where even so much negative attention is just something to be curious about rather than worried. ive had similar dreams before but never to this level, and never with these lengthy periods of awareness. there were times when i knew it was a dream, yet there was no way of proving it and it had absolutely no difference to waking life even when you looked as deeply as you could into it. i knew the this was one where the only way you would be 100% sure this was a dream would be when it was finished. even while performing impossible tasks, it was just so so stable which is something ive not been able to do alot lately. i used to have long lucids but ive just gone from having loads of 2 min lucids to suddenly having this epic hours long one, i just wish i knew the magic formula that wrked this time... it beared a lot of similarities to one exerience i had on acid and perhaps the main message was just showing me exactly how the acid experience really was just this ridiculous series of dreams and has allowed me to remember more of that time. may add more in a bit

Hmm I couldn't tell you for sure. I have had this happen to me on occasion, usually if I get too excited when I come out to explore. I used to do this technique called spinning, where Iwould spin myself swiftly around in mid air. Other times, I simply touched something or verbally or mentally affirmed to myself to stay lucid. I
hope this helps you out. If I can think of anything else, I will gladly share with you :)

sweet series of lucids last night, but memory is getting hazy now. one bit i was talking to this woman and her girl about obe's astrals etc. when the woman said she didnt believe in obe's a had to ask her where she thought her body was now, or what body did she think she was using now. she still said she didnt believe so i just explained that she was basically saying she didnt believe in dreams and left it there. i spoke to her girl insted who seemed to agree that when she dreams she is away from her real body somehow, and i said that i guess when we are flying around in our dream body, that is essentailly what astral travel is.
had a couple more recurring bits. one was a party for me when i dont expect that many people to turn up, then eventually it gets quite full. one woman there was impressed with something i was doing and offered to give me a cheque for 100k to carry on my work. not sure if it was the garden work or just the dreaming stuff she was impressed by, but eventually the offer was withdrawn for some reason. this pissed me off but the party was still good.
it was in this block of flats and a group of tourists turned up. they were from jamaica and eventually turned into the west indies cricket team. by this stage i was flying around looking at things that i had previously planted around the town. there was this awesome 'guava' tree with massive purple fruit on it that was just so beautiful. shame it wouldnt grow here in reality..
the next bit was another recurring place, but i think it doesnt really have a deep meaning to it, just a place that has formed in my mind that i like and revisit. after the place had changed back to a place more resembling reality i asked a guy if he knew the place i was talking about. it was like a bar with a big blue menu screen behind the bar and the music playing was heartbeats by the knife. the bar was kind of part garden centre as well, and we were getting things for the garden and even large daisy like flowers seemed somehow miraculous to me however i still didnt really get lucid at this point as i was earlier. reminded me that i had one earlier in the week where jools holland was presenting a tv show in front of 12 foot daffodils

i got into a lucid dream the other morning and i thought it would be a good time to practise going straight into one from being awake. it seemed like i was waking up then going straight back into it and just visualizing flying around outside the back of my house. now though i think i wasnt quite really waking up and just jumping from diferent parts of the dream :D so tricky to know for sure...

great long lucid last night. pre lucid i was walking through a forest with a barn owl. then i was by a ravine with a mate and a girl in front. i said to my mate something like havent we seen this in a dream before, to which he dismissed it and carried on walking. i knew it was a dream and launched myself off the ravine backwards..? i caught up with the girl and walked her home, stopping on the way with loads of distractions. we got to my place and i took my shoes off. i was losing lucidity, and as it was quite wet, when she had to leave i thought i had to go and put my shoes back on to walk her home.
when she was gone i was in a place that was bit like a terraced stand. again the feeling of overlooking something made me realise i could launch off it. i started to tell people around me that it was a dream. one guy shhhssed everyone else so they could hear me. itold him he shouldnt have done that because now what i was saying would be rubbish. i wxplained that it was a dream and one guy said ok then well why dont you just do something like its a dream. i said ok, then everyone elses doubt started to spill into me. i said to him that its easy to control a dream when you are on your own, but it is much harder when you ae surrounded by loads of skeptical dc's. i was going to just jump off the terrace to prove it, so they lined up this little deep pool at the bottom for us to land in. this put me off further as it was a cold night and i had a long way to walk back wet. its crazy how lucidity comes in waves and just dissapears for short times.
anyway i knew i couldnt fly properly at the time so i just ounced down the terrace steps getting higher each time and then proving it was a dream by bouncing high and landing on my head. there is a bit of a gap now and then i remember having seena film called "return to bril castle" which had really influenced this dream. ive never seen the film but the tv i watched before bed definately played a big part.
i was cd shopping, which is odd because ive not brought a cd for ages, with someone else i know from another place on the net. we bought some similar cd's but they all got mixed up and we spent a while trying to get the right ones. i think at some point i threw some liquid off the building i was in. this caused loads of people to be pissed at me, but i was just acting like a dick and treating it like it didnt matter at all. of course it didnt really matter but maybe i should just explain myself better next time. even if its just because it is so much fun to explain to the characters that it is a dream

Hi there,
When i was younger, I read a book about Lucid Dreaming (Exploring the world of Lucid Dreaming), and that practice take control of my life for the next 2 or 3 years, I keep my dream journal, and I made exercises of awareness during the day, for at night I be able to realize when i was in a dream state or not, for many times i was the lord of my dreams, I do all i want (or almost), but I always have limits. For how many times I try to reach the heavens and find God, talk with him, but for how far I fly in sky I always reach a limit, some invisible barrier that I couldnīt cross, all the time the same. Does any one ever have the same limitations over your dreams?
I stop do Lucid dreams, now i work, and i have a very stress life, i can be aware as I was before, now simple donīt work no more with me, my mind keep tricking me, and i canīt realize I am dreaming or not. Usually I remember parts of my dream's every day, but that is not enough for have the ability of have a Lucid Dreaming again.
And other thing, was the main reason I stop having Lucid Dreams, it was because when I wake up I was to tyred, look like I donīt sleep at all, or stay all night running. In my case was not relaxing, so slowly I block that ability from my mind!
Do any one encounter the same problem as me?

That was a pretty great description. Another trick is to train yourself to enter Alpha state even while awake. This is one of the forms of brain waves that happen while you are dreaming, but through meditation, you can train your brain to reach alpha state even while awake (and once you're really good at it, you can even be in alpha without meditating).
I've heard of people have enhanced intuition and better mind control skills once they learned how to be in Alpha all the time.
Look it up, it's a pretty cool idea.

i do a wbtb for a good hour at 8 then back to bed at 9. im back at this compound that i visit often. this time it starts of as half warehouse and half garden centre. i chat with some old work mates and eventually see my old boss. he offers me a job on the nightshift so i ask around the staff to see what the nightshift is like. i start to get a really good feeling about the place and decide that i will probably come back and do the nightshift for a bit at least.
my old car is outside and i start to go to leave. as i do this 3 girls run out and tell me to stay. the location is now at the dead end at the end of my real road. i point up the road and say that im not going far and i have the house to myself so they should all come over for a party after work. they all throw their phone numbers at me and i keep them in my pocket. the whole thing made me realise that im much more comfortable talking to girls when there are no lads about. it was all so nice and the only bit of criticism i had was that "i could smell better" but even this was more of a joke between friends.
i never quite manage to leave unsurprisingly. i get given the tour. the basement room is really light and alongside peoples beds lie massive flower and veg beds. underneath the carpet the ground feels like it has not been flattened at all. its odd but a very nice natural feel. we walk through into the back room of the basement which turns out to be this girls bedroom. i get a really good vibe about the whole place and start to see myself living there. she explains that it gets pretty cold at times but it doesnt bother me. we sit down on her bed.
i think other people come to get us to complete the tour. parts of it are sketchy and the order is pretty mixed up though. at some point i watch an old video about the place. in the video, old mates from uni pop up. i cant believe that they have visited and this amazement only furthers my good feelings about the place. often i have been to this place before and it has something creepy about it but i tried to inspect it all just in case.
back in some kind of common room and i finally get lucid. the people who run the joint come in and chat with everyone. now normally the boss is the creepiest thing about this place in the dream and this time they were also the worst thing about it. they were a couple of old men dressed in slightly fruity upper class wizard type stuff. cravats and funny hats type thing. they said something about getting me to do some work before i left which would have been fine, only they didnt address me in person. this happens alot to me even in real life and i think it is something to do with people being intimidated with my size. it was pondering things such as this that got me lucid as i relised this was an odd situation to be in.
as these guys were the only downside i decided to test out how bad they were. i got the vibe that they may stop my car working or something else to keep me there so i tested it by going outside. it wasnt really like i was stopped from leaving, but people surounded me as i approached the door. as i was lucid i knew i could go anyway so i decided to test it out and show them at the same time. i said something like well i can just leave anyway by doing this. i tried to fade out of the dream by just dropping to the floor and relaxing. this slowly started to wake me up, while also conforming to me that i was in a dream and in no danger. as i felt the dream fade i suddenly jumped up and grabbed hold of it again. the people around seemed kind of wary, but they no longer tried to stop me.
my thoughts turned back to the girls. i dug one of their numbers out of my pocket, i suppose to show the one who had given it to me that i was interested as they had all written them on distinctive bits of paper. on this scrap of paper was a whole note which i tried to read but cant really remember what it said. i think that is about it for recall but i kept going back to the same place after each awakening. the last 2 times i went back i remember walking around the place with this tall brunette. i remarked at how tall she was because she was almost as tall as me so about 6'3ish. i never like tall girls but she was amazing with this feline, supermodel type figure. she felt like she should be more my type than the girls i was with earlier but all i remember her saying was that i should probably go back to bed. the last time i went back i was back in the common room with this young asian couple who seemed slightly wary of my yet friendly enough
quick reminder: WBTB WBTB WBTfckinBED!!!!! aahhhh!!! should be so easy but has been really tough lately and this one has broken a bit of a dry spell in style

did a short wbtb by just sitting up for a bit until i felt awake. recalled a long hyper real dream although the order is screwed. was at home with family and for some reason our house is on the next road down. its christmas and we have people over and have loads of food and drink about. dont remember the first time i got lucid, but was doing a bit of general floating around.
some guy comes up to the house and nicks a bottle of something. he stes off as if i will never catch him and at first it feels like one of thise dreams where you cant move well but somehow i overcome it and catch up with him. i have some kind of stick in my hand for security. its pretty obvious that the guy is in a bit of a state so i offer to take the bottle back but go and get some more stuff that he can take on his way with him.
i go back to the house and get some food for him, then try and find a water bottle to fill up and give to him. at some point he bites me on the arm right on my tatoo. i think im fairly lucid by now because it doesnt bother me much despite someone else hinting at the possibility of infection and stuff.
anyway im back in the real house and recalling the past dream to my dad. its still christmas but by now ive lost lucidity because everything feels as real as day. it doesnt even strike me as odd that fabio capello and his wife are sat in our front room joining us for the holidays. it just feels so normal as fabio sits and chats to my dad i just get the feeling that this is the kind of thing he would want to do with his spare time. he's a bit dll but his wife was quite fun although i cant remember why.
at some point the weirdness of it hits me and i exclaim oh shit im still in the dream arent i. i dont bother with stabilising techs as it feels like thers no way it will fade. i fly off for a bit and remember flying over the local river while these kids watched. i kept getting up to about 30 feet high but could never get higher than this. it was a little frustrating so i landed and tried to just stande there and charge myself up for a wile for my next attempt. the dream went on from there but im not sure how for now

some good examples of how not to get lucid last night...
first im in a city and am confused if its manchester or london. the borough bgins with b (Bromsgrove? town somewhere else) but i cant remember it. its confusing because ive been here before ina dream, yet it feels like its somewhere i have visited in reality on one of my jobs. the confusion isnt q6uite enough to get lucid though. just off the main road there is a public garden and i see my parents and tell them to go round it because i remember how nice it is. the garden and the section of road it is on is covered in amazing fruit trees. massive melon, orange, plum and all sorts that just look amazing. i think there is some kind of local business that ive seen before that plantes the trees although i dont bother going into it this time.
next bit and we are going to a party at some old themed place. were on a bus and im right at the front behind the driver. the last road before the venue takes us along this amazing track that is on a river with trees growing over it. the bus flies down this which is scary but exciting.
we get to the venue and when i go through the door i have seen it before and it makes me think it is some kind of branded theme pub that ive seen before, but only in a dream. inside the main room is circular with a high ceiling in the middle and really low cramped spaces round the edge. it feels like everyone is waiting for some kind of tour/event but for some reason they are all sat round the edge. it feels massively claustrophobic so eventually i break from the crowd and lie down in the middle where there is loads of room. this breaks the fear and the party starts to happen.
im wearing some odd kind of flourescent yellow and orange top with colours that kind of fade into each other. i notice that some old mate has the same top on. he appraoches me and the colours of the top have spread accross his face into some kind of tribal paint effect.
next thnk i remember is being back in my garden. a massive eagleowl flies past so i tell everyone to look. 2 more start circling so i try to follow them. one young one lands on a tree. i go up to it although its really high up. it turns into some kind of albatross type thing which is still pretty amazing. i try to follow the others and suddenly i am in manchester in a big city centre park and they are hunting low down. im half running and half cycling round this park and i see a fox. i go round this corner and my wires (headphones?) get caught up with some kids. we try and pull them apart and laugh then untangle them.
im on the track at the side of the park and i see an owl on a post by the track. i cycle madly to catch up with it, then fail to break in time and fly past it. i turn around and luckily its still there. i head back and i see it is hunting a woodpecker. the woodpecker hides in the bush and the owl manically circles the bush looking for a way to strike. all this while i am just a couple of metres away. the owl is truely massive and the way it circles the bush is truely frightening. eventually it gives up and i get the feeling i have pissed it off by being so close. it turns on me and i take up a defensive position with my feet in the air because my shoes are the only thing that will protect from the talons. i subdue it somehow and manage to take it home. it ends up in a little porch while we discuss what to do with it.
i have a brief conversation with my mum which is the closest i get to being lucid. its fcked up cos i explain to her that ive just been in this park which i tell her that i know doesnt really exist in manchester, and i must just think it exists because ive seen it in a dream somewhere yet even this doesnt do the trick... i do a bit of research and a book says there is a species of eagle owl native to herts, which must be complete bull but it was nice to be able to read something properly

http://obe4u.com/files/SOBT.pdf
My realty and my dreamstate seem to often overlap. Many times throughout the day, I feel as though I slip back into a dream -- or I have to ask myself if I am dreaming.
I remember my dreams vividly and have done so for years. I kept a dream journal for years. Have been aware/lucid in dreams. Have similar reoccuring themes in my dreams, and a definite geography of a dreamscape.
Sometimes when I wake up, it takes me a while to realize I am "here". Sometimes when I dream I feel like I am in a memory, and that I am remembering my life that I lived in "reality" -- and now my memories are mixed with my "real" memories and dream memories.
I notice I am dreaming when I recognize a landscape. Or if I am in a familiar scenario ("oh I'm being chased again"). I oftentimes go back in the morning and re-dream the ending of the dream -- or wallow in the feeling of the dream.
Being as connected to my dreams I as I may be... I don't know the benefit of lucid dreaming???
I am missing something? What should I be trying to attempt once I am lucid? It all seems kind of pointless. Maybe I just have a defeatist attitude about it. Or lack clear direction.

hi joya cheers for sharing. i feel very similar to you about this stuff it seems.
its up to you what you get out of it really. there are endless applications, although i am often like you in that i dont really have many goals i want to acheive from it.
on the most basic level it is simply a time when you can do any of the things you cannot do in reality. fly, eat a tree, talk to animals, whatever floats your boat. also it is a chance to do things that would have bad consequences in reality. eat elvis's last meal, leap off a cliff, find out what taking psychadelic drugs is like (amazing in dreams)...also conquering fears is far easier if you can face it in a dream first
here is a thread you may enjoy. its pretty funny in places and an endless supply of (fairly useless :)) dream goals.
http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-things-do-lucid-dream-104556/
however these things are all secondary to the thing i like to try and do in lucids which is learn more about dreaming and lucidity. this can be as simple as just talking to the nearest anything. if you expect a decent reply you will generally get it. maybe it is just your own mind putting the pieces together for itself but either way it can be very useful.
for me once i started trying to learn, i realised that i had been learning about it without even knowing. i realised i have had recurring dreams from an early age that made no sense for years, until after learning about lucidity it all clicked into place. for example i dream alot about just being lying down and then raising myself up without using arms. now it seems clear that this is good practice for obe's, so its bizarre how unconscious so much of this stuff can be.
what would you normally do when lucid? i guess id suggest just trying to use the precious time a bit like i do, with a view to having many more and longer experiences in the future. if you want any help lengthening the lucids when you get them, ive got some great tips. but above all else just lie back and enjoy the flight simulator in your mind

oops i forgot possibly the absolute best thing to do when lucid. nothing. just sit there and observe and realise that you never had to do anything in the first place ;)
if you can quieten your mind during a dream then it will be very helpful practice for real world meditation

You sure can see the future in your dreams. Many times fortunately I paid attention and averted things. Unfortunately one time, I didn't and my beloved cat passed and I could have averted it. It's a shameful pain, I don't know I'll ever get over.
Now, I came to say I did get lucid this morning and I was so intent on staying lucid I think I was to tense to feel the joy of it all. I ended up paying attention while walking down the street, however, not remembering what I intended to do. Eventully I lost lucidity and ended up in a nightmare which involved suppressed emotions involving my family. Oh well, at least I'm proud of myself for at least staying present for a fair amount of time. Too bad I din't get lucid again and heal those frightening feelings. Ahhh, again, net time.
Funny today it made me think how indeed we are somehow truly a seperate god when we're not involved in the mass/one consciousness of the world/collective subconscious.
Hmmmm....hopefully I'll acheive something worthwhile when I get, get lucid tonight.

back with a bang last night. it all started at this apartment complex i have been to many times. it is partly based on a hall at my old uni and is gigantic with a massive indoor hall space filled with poplar trees and swallows flying around. the first thing i remember is walking into a room and just instantly having a deep feeling of knowing that the people there were my people. i think i have met some of them before in dreams but the feeling was just incredible, like i had found the people i had been looking for for ever. even though the talk was of dreams and such, i still wasnt fully lucid until a couple of my real mates showed up.
often when i tell people they are in a dream, it ruins it somehow, or they get scared or simply dissapear. this time i took a different approach and just tried asking them how they got here and where did they think they were etc. all i needed to do at his point was keep the conversation going in order to stabilise the dream. unfortunately all i got were confused looks and responses so i went back outside to explore.
a couple of old friends were walking a few dogs. this big old dog was off his lead so i grabbed his collar and walked him back to his owner and lead. it was a girl who used to live down my road as kids. we chatted about dogs and it seemed quite an aware conversation even if i was confused at the time and no longer that lucid. i mentioned the apartments and she instantly knew which ones i meant. called something spanish sounding like vista bueno. when i have been here before the dreams have had a litle bit of an experiment type feel like i am being monitored but there was much less of that this time. i think its because the apartments remind me of an old workplace
i again realised i was dreaming as i walked home. for some reason i decided to try to bilocate or something. i tried to keep my 'body' walking along while transporting my mind up to above tree level. it didnt really work as i think i was starting to doubt my lucidity. the place i was walking was absolutely identical to reality so this is probably why it was hard to stay lucid. nice to be lucid in a 100% real location though.

thought this was worth sharing with you good folks. finally managed to scan this dream map in. pretty shitty quality but you get the idea. basically any real local area ive dreamt of, with other recurring ones thrown in where they fit. will explain fully when my keyboard works. its like having 20 years of dream journals in one image. if i ever work out how to scan it better ill post a decent version :p
