Every decent person wants peace. It's a no-brainer and it's not enough. We need knowledge, power and wisdom to make things happen the way we want.

Where did you get the idea that 144,000 awakened souls is the majick number for ascension? Why is it the same number as in the Jehovah's Witness doctrine?

All Catholic and Protestant churches that I know of adhere to their own version/perversion of the Holy Bible. It could be that's what the JW's have done with this particular prophecy from Scripture. I can't say for sure, since I've never talked about it with a JW. But I found the Biblical reference for you, in case you're interested in knowing the number's true origin. It's written in the Book of Revelation, in reference to this group of 144,000 who will be redeemed from the earth during the time of the great tribulation, and just prior to the final end of the world and Jesus Christ's return.

On a personal note, I'm guessing our spiritual beliefs are probably very different. But I think maybe when I look at this thread, I see something similar to what you see. People have been singing about global peace for a long time already, and it hasn't gotten anyone anywhere. Singing about peace obviously doesn't work - it's a very pretty, unreaslitic idea.
