Hi,
I went to my doctors last month because my anxiety and depression is getting worse plus i am feeling very tired most of the time and getting headaches. I am also about 6 stone overweight.
When i went to my Doctors she advised me to go for a blood test. I went for the blood test and when I got the results of my blood everything was normal except for my ALT levels which were high at 100. Because of this the Doctor had me take another blood test to check for hepititis but when I got the results for that the hepititis was negative. I then visited the Doctor again where she gave me an appointment for a scan for fatty liver. Anyway when I spoke to my Doctor I told her that I was taking Milk Thistle tablets for my liver but when I told her that she had a blank expression on her face. She had never heard of Milk Thistle which surprised me considering she is a Doctor. I also told her I was taking multi vitamin tablets that I dissolve in water and when I told her that she had an expression of shock horror on her face. She said I shouldn't take them. I was left confused as I always thought vitamin tablets were good for you.
Is multi-vitamins bad for you? And am I wasting my time taking Milk Thistle tablets for my liver?
Please advise

My best advice to you is to eat as little as possible, lose that weight and yes, take the vitamins. Vitamins are very good for you.

Thanks for the reply.
I get confused because the guy at the health and herbal shop told me that vitamin tablets and milk thistle is very good for me but my doctor says different.
I guess that some Doctors are againt herbal medicine and never heard of any of the pills.

Doctors want to hand out pills and drugs...BIG PHARMA pats them on the back for doing that because its good business.
I mean why educate patients about natural remedies when you can SELL THEM DRUGS.
Last time i visited a 'doctor' was two years ago to register at the local as i moved house. I don't tend to get sick...and when i do it's just a cold and who needs a doctor for that. Who needs them tbh.

I agree with you. Sometimes I feel its just a waste of time going to see my Doctor. Its the first time I've visited my doctor in years.

Depends if they are synthetic or natural, or so I've been told afew times on here.
Like it might say Vitamin C - dirved from blsghrtahdhd chemical lol - the good ones would be Vitamin C derived from fresh oranges or whatever.
Doctors are not generally taught about nutrition but rather about doctoring and pharmaceuticals. They are trained to dissuade patients from herbal things by telling you it's scientifically proven there is no real affect or there are scary side effects.
I'll agree too much of anything is not good.
Getting scanned and paneled is not a bad idea so I don't regret you're visiting your doctor if you're having problems and haven't seen him in a long time.
Read about the issues the lab results reveal and take it from there.

Organic veg and fruit if you can afford it. Eat lots of veg and good meat. Lay of carbs and sugars. Drink unfluorinated water. Exercise. Get some sun, don't burn, lay of chemicals like creams etc
Eat lots of veg and exercise and you will change shape quickly - and don't overcook the ones needing cooking - stir fry and steam ;)

Don't get me wrong. I agree the scanning is a good idea its just that I get told one thing from another when it comes to medicines.

"A patient cured is a customer lost"
Remember that every single time you walk into a clinic. Since I'm pressed for time at 3:20am :D I would give the advice for researching your suppliment(s) and work out the LD50, toxicity and other such things. Although your intention is good, you my be harming yourself if you don't know with relevative confidence what the suppliments are doing to you.
