Disney lemmings hoax

If you live in the USA (and maybe elsewhere too) you probably have heard
that lemmings (see pic) annually migrate to the sea where they throw them-
selves off cliffs and commit suicide for no apparent reason.

Of course, this is complete bullshit. The source is a Disney "documentary"
made back in 1958 called White Wilderness. The film makers bought
lemmings from the Alaskan locals and deliberately staged a phony "suicide"
sequence in which lemmings were forced off a cliff into the sea.

Always thought that lemmings (the old 'lead them all home' concept computer games too) and the suicide part were symbolic for humans and how we follow unconsciously, like in the pied piper tales (not sure of the spelling) -all following a hypnotic tune towards our own demise.

It would be funny if it wasn't unfortunately true.
