The eschatology of Jehovah's Witnesses is central to their religious beliefs. They believe that Jesus Christ has been ruling in heaven as king since 1914 (a date they believe was prophesied in Scripture), and that after that time a period of cleansing occurred, resulting in God's selection of the Bible Students associated with Charles Taze Russell to be his people in 1919. They also believe the destruction of those who reject their message[1] and thus willfully refuse to obey God[2][3] will shortly take place at Armageddon, ensuring that the beginning of the new earthly society will be composed of willing subjects of that kingdom.

The religion's doctrines surrounding 1914 are the legacy of a series of emphatic claims regarding the years 1799, 1874, 1878, 1914, 1918 and 1925 made by Watch Tower Society founder Charles Taze Russell and the organization's publications between 1879 and 1924. Claims by the religion about the significance of those years, including the presence of Jesus Christ, the beginning of the "last days", the destruction of worldly governments and the earthly resurrection of Jewish patriarchs, were successively abandoned when it became apparent the dates were wrong.[4] The Watchtower had described its chronology as "of divine origin and divinely corroborated ... absolutely and unqualifiedly correct"[5] and that a repudiation of Russell's teachings was "equivalent to a repudiation of the Lord".[6][7] The Watch Tower Society has admitted its early leaders promoted "incomplete, even inaccurate concepts".

I remember when i was a child in junior school there was this kid who was a Jehovah witness he use to tell me the world was gonna end and only Jehovah witnesses were gonna live and how the rest of us were all gonna die. i was terrified and use to lay awake at night worrying about it. This is just another religion aimed at causing fear to suppress society.

It must be a headache having a belief system as confusing and convoluted as that.

my brother inlaw's one...the worst part of The End Of Days belief...is they actually celebrate it,only God favours the JW's,everyone else,is going to hell.
The way I see it,they rejoice in mans imminent destruction, because their beliefs prevent them from enjoying life itself,so celebrate death...it's a boggle of a psychology. If God was really, that neurotic,I would've embraced satanism
along time ago...well,at least the chicks are goers...:D

Blind leading the blind as always, keep on dreaming about Jesus. Where was Jesus when the world wars were fought, where is Jesus when children die of hunger, where is Jesus when innocent get tortured and killed. I wouldn't trust someone who does nothing to no one and cannot be found anywhere except on the cold pages of some ancient books.

The way the music business managed to take the bite out of the protest scene in the 60s was to commercialize the whole thing. It swallowed it up, created protest singers under their control. You could wear the badges for anti establishment under the control of the establishment, as they milked it.
But the bite was taken away.

Likewise anything Jesus stood for became swallowed up and commerciazed into a bible. Words have been put into Jesus's mouth by the so called followers. You can now buy the t-shirt "you're going to hell we're not ha ha ha". Jesus didn't seem to like the pharisees and scribes. The life he led was his example, laying his life down for his brothers, and standing by the truth of oneness with God. He showed that aligning with the Light allowed him to trigger someone's inner faith so they could heal themselves. He pointed to the Inner Christ, but the "media" got hold of it and turned it into a multi-million pound industry.

Jesus is my friend.:D The bible is mostly commercialized rubbish. It paints a schizzo picture of the man. Nothing stands in the way between any person and their alignment with the real power in this universe. That power doesn't have an external hell or heaven, but one can experience these states within.

The second coming of Jesus is not a commercial advertisment for viagra. It simply means that there is another wave of reality on the way. This time it won't be parables for a certain culture to understand. It will deliver the reality of Oneness. It will coincide with this new age, and will gradully heal illusion and wars.

Now this kind of Jesus I can relate to, but as you said it's hard to buy that, "LETS GO CHURCH N BE GOOD AND JESUS WILL COME FROM DA HEAVENS AND FIX EVERYTHING, LETS TURN A BLIND EYE TO THE WORLD"-mentality
I wouldn't call that real power Jesus tho and I would dare to say that he is not to be solely given credit for preaching it, but he is one of the many. People just like to pick their favourite "star" and then dismiss others. And don't get me wrong, it would come out as if I hated the figure you call Jesus, I do not, I think he was a great teacher of his time. But I wouldn't promote him to the heights he has been promoted. Many can better the world, just as he tried to do.

Good post indeed.

Absa-bleedin-lutely! I am totally overjoyed at times to think we have inner guides that love us, Masters prepared to drop their own frequencies and come here to help little ol us. It's a fantastic system we are part of.
All of us, nothing left out, ever.

Spirit is getting clues as to how to participate with the universe, through such great minds as Gregg Braden nowadays. I am in total respect for this person's Spirit.

the fact there is ufo's out there means there is no god. Why?

UFO's have been seen (and wrote about) throughout the centuries so that proves there are 'gods' but that does not disprove there is GOD of everything.

It must be a headache having a belief system as confusing and convoluted as that.It was for gullible me! Endless doctrines and many of them doublethink. Then what did I find? Endless doctrines and many of them doublethink, in other religions too. What a waste of life! And not just mine when I think of all the trouble that religion causes!

Charles Taze Russell came up with the 1914 date from two sources, the first was measuring the inside passage of the Pyramid at Gaza, the second required putting a few unrelated scriptrures together and changing a date in history from 537 bc to 607 in order to get it to match with the pyramid findings.

Jehovahs Witnesses are so convinced about 1914 because they where warning about 1914 for 25 years in advance, and allthough it didnt happen to the extent they thought, something big did happen, namely the 1st world war.

Heres my theory though, Russell was a Zionist, for good religious reasons by the way, the Watchtower used to be called Zions Watchtower.
Russell was in written comunication with the Father of Zionist modern Isreal, Rothschild.

Now, do you think maybe Russell would have told Rothschild of his findings?, I would expect so.

Now Rothschild would probably jump at the idea of getting some Biblical credence to his Zionist plans and his New World Order, so, in view of the view that Rothschild orchestrated the 1st World War, do you think he might have chosen the date Russell gave him?

As for Jehovahs Witnesses, they do not celibrate the death of the unGodly, in fact they go out in all weathers to be abused by the very people they are trying to save, a mandate that Christ gave all Christians but that few seem to bother doing.

Another reason they hang onto 1914 is that the related scriptures they use to give thier governing body authority over the whole movement relate to events that happened in 1919, events that even most JWs have forgotten, never mind the world so they plainly dont apply to them, but to admit so would be to admit that Jesus hasnt chosen them as his Faithfull and Discreet slave.

Worst thing about the JWs, they get thier followers to refuse the bread and the wine, ignoring John Chapter 6 where Jesus plainly says unless you eat his flesh, and drink his blood, you will not inherit everlasting life.

Such a shame as they are the genuinely nicest people I ever met.

My mum used to have a JW woman calling regularly, she used to go on, and on, and on, and on!:( The woman moved away eventually, much to our relief! :D
