Actually, this isn't today's news, since I noticed it in an old edition (9th August) of the 'Kent on Sunday' a free local newspaper...

"Free Course gives you leadership lesson"
"Non-executive board members in Kent have been urged to sign up for a new course that shows people how to make the jump from local to national leadership.
About Time is run by the not-for-profit international leadership development organization Common Purpose and will be held from November 12-13 and again in March 2010.
Adirupa Sengupta, programme director for the course, said: 'The course is an opportunity for anyone to make the leap from local to national leadership. It is a free course, that will help you develop invaluable skills, not only to anyone on a local board, but to those who want to lead at national level'.
It was launched after a study of civic leaders found that less than one in eight people surveyed held a national board appointment, but nine in 10 would be interested in working at a higher level.
