I have been trying to avoid aspartame since I found out the dangers of it in 2006, however I am a big cider drinker and have recently noticed that Strongbow dry cider contains an artificial sweetner. I contacted the company about this by email to which they replied "We don't know" WTF. My worst fears have arisen that this artificial sweetner is aspartame:eek: Does anyone no for sure that Strongbow Cider contains aspartame.

If it's not aspartame, it's sucralose. Sucralose is the by-product of the creation of pesticides. It's really sweet and only impacts your body's immune system instead of killing you outright, so they put it in soft drinks.
Artificial sweeteners are bad.

if it tastes strange its acesulfame K
if it tastes far to sweet its sukralos

Aspartame is now in Wrigley's gum, even the versions that contain real sugar. It's also in the sugared version of Lilt and dear knows what else.

That is so strange, big coincidence. Ive been drinking this every so often because my girlfriend likes it, sure it was two days ago I looked at a can of it and it said sweeteners. I know by the taste it isnt aspartame, but it is very sweet so maybe as avarrus said its sucralose, probably. I was planning looking into that very thing this week!
Funny they say they dont know

If it says "Sugar Free" on the label--do not even think about eating it!!!! If you are using Aspartame (Nutra-Sweet, Equal) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss--you probably have Aspartame Disease! There are 92 documented symptoms of Aspartame, from coma to death. The majority of them are all neurological, because Aspartame destroys the nervous system. There is absolutely no reason to take this product. The Congressional Record said, "It makes you crave carbohydrates and will make you FAT." The formaldehyde stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. There are now over 5,000 products containing this chemical--it is now available in 90 plus countries worldwide--and the patent has expired!!!

Ive just got a negative opinion because all the alkies drink it, there are a lot worse brands out there. Like one called frosty jack is drank by all the alkies but some people drink that at the weekends etc. I drank it one time on mdma and it was lovely, I was shocked but then tried it straight and it seemed quite nasty, like most of the white strong ciders just seeem shady and minging.

I've done that once. I remember staring at two lampshades near each other and thinking they were aliens kissing. I can't remember a lot of what happened, but my friend told me that I was rambling on about sacrificing a dog to summon a demon like it was something that actually happened to me.
Considering this is highly unlike me, I wonder why the hell I was talking about it. I certainly have no memories of anything that could be considered even remotely similar to that...

Sounds like the motion sickness tablets you used to get round here. Similiar to the tropane alkaloids, datura (jimsoon weed) mandrake henbane etc. At low doses they can be used for nausea and potentiation of psychedelics. Like datura stramonium seeds ;)

I used to be a Bulmers cider drinker but gave it up years ago when I concluded that sweeteners were aspartame and even if not it would still be harmful. I mailed Bulmers too voicing my concerns but they never replied to me and so I concluded that was sufficient evidence.
I also was forced to quit all chewing gum including Wrigleys regular for the same reason.
This year I was given an antibiotic by the dentist that contained aspartame and I made a fuss and refused to take it.

Yes, I totally agree with your last sentence in particular - not only very dangerous but it can also blot out your memory so you cannot even remember what you saw or did whilst tripping. I speak from personal experience many years ago. Most people I know that had taken datura are now dead, not from it but I am sure it contributed. I also know a guy who has been sectioned lots of times and claims that datura is responsible for his mental illness that has ruined his life. It's a definite JUST SAY NO!

I'm a big cider drinker and I used to drink Strongbow until I found out it had that filthy shit in it. Now I stick to Olde English, Gaymers (favourite), Scrumpy Jack or Magners/Bulmers (same thing, different bottle) although rarely because they are overpriced.
If you are a regular pub goer you are fucked basically. Most pubs only have Strongbow or Blackthorn on tap so you have to look like a fag and drink Magners.

In Tenerife you can only get Bulmers Strongbow and Magners and in a bar it can be as much as 4€ a pint! I don't bother with any of it now and my cider drinking days have ended it seems.

People have been drinking alcohol since Ancient Egyptian times, probably even before that. Our bodies can handle alcohol in moderate quantities without problems. What becomes a problem is when unnatural chemicals are added to our food and drink. Our bodies cannot process aspartame and it causes us harm even in small amounts, but our bodies CAN deal with a couple of pints of beer without any adverse ill effects.
These unnatural chemicals are specifically designed to make us sick. They market sweeteners by claiming them to be healthier than sugar... bullshit. Of course, too much sugar, like too much of anything (including alcohol) is bad for you. I believe that a healthy diet is a balanced diet with a little of everything but without any of these artificial chemicals. I highly doubt that my having a drink socially on a Saturday night is going to cause me as much harm as these chemicals. I don't mean getting absolutely hammered because getting into a right state and being hung over to hell all of Sunday is no fun, I'm talking about having 3-4 pints of lager once a week where I can have a cup of tea and then feel absolutely fine.
Alcohol was originally invented as a means of sanitising river water that may have otherwise have been unsafe to drink. It was an effective defence against diseases such as dysentery in ancient times, but the alcohol content would probably not have been more than 3%. It's almost ironic that something invented initially as a health product is actually bad for us in large doses.
Best thing to drink: Soda Water.

Not only will they make a lot of money selling so-called treatments (like so-called cancer cures that are in actuality as devastating to the body as the illness itself), they will also be able to kill significant numbers of people in their depopulation plan. Evil never sleeps.

Are you afraid yet?
Wow, that's so off the mark I just couldn't believe it. Where did you get that gem from, youtube?
To the OP. Don't worry about the paranoid on this thread, drink in moderation, get some exercise and replace your water when you get dehydrated. You will be fine.
The fact is, almost everything on this planet is bad for you in some way or another if you don't have any control over it. If you go overboard of course you will see a problem and that is your body's way of saying "let me catch up", It needs to process everything out of your system and is very resilient, adaptive and self-healing. Hell you can die from too much oxygen (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/hyperoxia) and too much water (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication) too if your body was ever put into that situation where that happened, like over drinking water at a rave(or for any other reason (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16614865/)), then you would die.
If there was really a problem with all of these sweeteners then you would see a lot more people in hospitals and waiting rooms complaining about poisonings and overdoses but you don't. You only read or hear rumours and they come from the net, the greatest source of lies and misleading facts ever.
Observe reality see what is really happening, and for those that have actually seen or had problems, it could be any other number of random factors you didn't consider. Correlation is not causation. Those very few that do develop issues are the exception to the rule that applies to everything in life, the same rare few that die in traffic collisions, get struck by lighting and all the other lovely ways that one could snuff it or become unwell; They're in the minority.

I can tell fake sugar from real sugar, and the artificial sweetners are just what they say they are artificial not the real deal. Let me tell you they are nasty another reason why I wouldn't drink diet drinks. They even stick this junk in Koolaid, and Flinstone vitamins. Products that didn't need it before but have it in there all of a sudden really makes you wonder why.

last week I went out with some friends drinking... I usually drink lager, whiskeys, vodkas, but for some reason I hit the strongbow, and I hit it pretty hard all in one night (for me considering im female and can get drunk on 3 pints :p)... Ive had the odd can before, but never dug it much because it really tastes so fowl and like nasty chemicals... but anyways I had a few pints got a little drunk, woke up the next day feeling like my head was in a vice. I felt dreadful, really really bad hangover, worse then im used too... I go to see my boyfriend and we go into our town and all of a I start feeling insanely anxious and I have a very intense panic attack... utterly horrid experience and I am inclined to blame the strongbow! I avoid aspertame and artificial sweetners, but for whatever reason ive never thought to check the alcoholic beverages I drink!
ill be sure to do so after reading this thread... I never want to ingest any artificial sweetners of any kind...

I'm not saying it definately wan't the aspartame (or anything else in the strongbow), but you might want to consider the fact that you got really drunk as possibly being the cause of what happened the following day.

I have been getting intense panic attacks and gasping for air.
Both of these symptoms are listed as possible side effects to aspartame.
I try and avoid them too, but they're putting the crap into so many things these days it's hard to keep up!
but yes strongbow is definitely off my list for good.

I'm not saying it definately wan't the aspartame (or anything else in the strongbow), but you might want to consider the fact that you got really drunk as possibly being the cause of what happened the following day.
it's an interesting coincidence that panic attacks occurred to both of us though, I don't recall ever having such a feeling after being drunk with any other drinks, and I've had plenty of practice over the years ;)
but yes you are right we do need to consider all options and not just the strongbow, but what we do know is it is not just loaded with sugar, it also has artificial sweetners in it too, it's not for me anymore thanks.
