A beautiful and ancient legend that almost everyone has heard before is the sory of Adam and Eve. It is one of my favorite stories because it explains with symbolism what I will try to explain with words. It is one of the greatest teachings ever, but I believe that most people misunderstand it. The story is about you and me. It's about us. It's about all of humanity becuase, as you know, humanity is only one living being: man, woman--we are only one. In this story, we call ourselves Adam and Eve, and we are the original humans. The story begins when we were innocent, before we closed our spiritual eyes, which means thousands of years ago. We used to live in Paradise, in the Garden of Eden, which was heaven on earth. Heaven exists when our spiritual eyes are open. It is a place of peace and joy, freedom and eternal love.We loved and respected one another, and we lived in perfect harmony with all of creation. Our realtionship with our Creator, was a perfect communion of love, which means that we communed with the Creator all of the time, and the Creator communed with us. It was inconceivable to be afraid of the Creator, the one who created us. Life was beautiful in Paradise. The original humans saw everything through the eyes of truth, the way it is, and we loved it. That is the way we used to be, and it was effortless.

Well, the legend says that in the middle of Paradise stood two trees. One was the Tree of Life, which gave life to everything in existence, and the other was the Tree of Death, better know as the Tree of Knowledge. The Tree of Knowledge was a beautiful tree with juicy fruit. Very tempting. And the Creator told us, "Don't go near the Tree of Knowledge. If you eat the fruit of that tree, you may die." Of course, no problem. But by nature we love to exlpore, and surley we went to pay a visit to the tree. If you rememeber the story, you can already guess who lived in that tree. The Tree of Knowledge was the home of a big snake full of posion. The story says that the snake who lived in the Tree of Knowledge was a fallen angel who used to be the most beautiful one. As you know, and angel is a messenger who delivers the Creator's message---a message of truth and love. But for who knows what reason, that fallen angel no longer delivered the truth, which means he delivered the wrong message. The fallen angel's message was fear, instead of love; it was a lie, instead of truth. In fact, the story describes the fallen angel as the Prince of Lies, which means that he was an eternal liar. Every word coming out of his mouth was a lie.

We went to thtat tree, and we had the most incredible conversation with the Prince of Lies. We were innocent. We didn't know. We trusted everyone. And there was the Prince of Lies, the first storyteller, a very smart guy. Now the story gets a little more interesting because that snake by itself had a whole story of its own. The fallen angel talked and talked and talked and we listened and listened and listened. As you know, when we are childern and our grandparents tell us stories, we are eager to hear everything they tell us. We learn, and it's very seductive; we want to know more. But this was the Prince of Lies talking. No doubt about it---he was lying, and we were seduced by the lies. We believed the fallen angel's story, and that was our big mistake. That is what it means to eat the fruit of The Tree of Knowledge. We believed the lies; we put our faith in them. When we bit into the apple, we ate the lies that came with knowledge. What happens when we eat a lie? We believe it, and boom! Now that lie lives in us. This is easy to understand. The mind is very fertile ground for concepts, ideas, and opinions. If someone tells us a lie and we believe it, that lie takes root in our mind. There it can grow big and strong, just like a tree.Well, the lies went into our mind, and reproduced a whole Tree of Knowledge inside our head, which is everything that we know. But what is it that we know? Mostly lies.

Now each of us has our own Tree of Knowledge which is our personal belief system. The Tree of Knowledge is the structure of everything we believe. Every concept, every opinion, forms a little branch of that tree, until we end up with the whole Tree of Knowledge. As soon as that Tree is alive our mind, we hear the fallen angel talking very loudly. The same fallen angel, the Prince of Lies, lives in our mind. A Parasite was living in the fruit; we ate the fruit, and the Parasite went inside us. Now the Parasite is living our life. The storyteller, the Parasite, is born inside our head, and it survives inside our head because we feed it with our faith. The story of Adam and Eve explains how humanity fell from the dream of heaveninto the dream of hell; it tells us how we became the way we are right now. The story usally says that we took just one bite of the apple, but this is not true. I think we ate all of the fruit of that tree, and we became sick from being so full of lies and emotional posion. With the Tree of Knowledge in our head, we could only perceive knowledge, we could only perceive lies. We nolonger lived in heaven because lies have no place in heaven.

From this point, it is easy to understand what is meant by original sin. The original sin is not sex. No, that is another lie. The original sin is to believe the lies that come from the snake in the tree, the fallen angel. The meaing of the word sin is "to go against." Everything that we say, everything that we do against ourselves is a sin. To sin is not about blame or moral condemnation. To sin is to believe in lies, and to use those lies against ourselves. From that first sin, that origianl lie, all of our other sins are born. How many lies do you hear in your head? Who is judging, who is talking, who is the one with all the opinions? If you don't love, it's because that voice doesn't let you love. If you don't enjoy your life, it's because that voice doesn't let you enjoy it. And not only that---the liar in our head has the need to express all those lies, to tell its story. The voice is talking and talking and talking, and we are listening and listening and believing every word. The voice never stops judging. It judges whatever we do, whatever we don't do, whatever we feel, whatever we don't feel, whatever everybody else does. It is constantly gossiping in our head, and what comes out of that voice? Lies, mostly lies.

The voice in our head doesn't belong to us. When we are born, we don't have that voice. The voice in our head comes after we learn--first the language, then different points of view, then all the judgements and lies. Even when we first learn to speak, we speak only truth. But little by little, the whole Tree of Knowledge is programmed into our head, and the big liar eventually takes over the dream of our life. You see in the moment when we separated from the Creator, we started to search for the Creator. For the first time, we started to search for justice, for beauty, for truth. The search began thousands of years ago, and humans are still searching for the paradise we lost. We are searching for the way we used to be before we believed in lies: authentic, truthful, loving, joyful. The truth is we are searching for our Self.

You got it and very beautifully explained.

If you read "My Stroke of Insight" by Jill Bolte Taylor you will understand how the left and right parts of the brain work. As she had a stroke and her left hand brain went off line all she had left was her right spirit side and did not know how she would fit back into her body. She explains that you do need the interpreter to live in this reality but that it needs to be a servant and not the master.

I would say that genesis is more of a story about developing self awareness than becoming poisoned with lies. The only crime was that they ate the fruit which made them self aware, knowing good and evil, as the elohim do. The only difference was that the gods also ate from the tree of life and this made them immortal.

With the fall also comes a plan of redemption.

Good post, but this is a word-for-word transcript of one of the chapters of "The Voice of Knowledge" by Don Miguel Ruiz, is it not?

IF they want it to be taken that way they need to make their mind up.

It either is the word of god, to be followed or a collection of stories to help explain things, that you can ignore if you want to.

IF they want it to be taken that way they need to make their mind up.

It either is the word of god, to be followed or a collection of stories to help explain things, that you can ignore if you want to.

Who are they?? The way I see it is that these are universal truths/laws about life/God - whether you believe in them or not is irrelevant they are true never the less...like the law of gravity. All our beliefs and concepts about life/ourselves/other people/events are sinful if they create anything violent or negative like hate, anger, greed lust etc. You can ignore it if you want to but then you are creating suffering for yourself and others -no?

What do you think?

What about the beginning of genesis - isn't this telling us how God/the life principle created reality and the principles we can use to create what we desire?? Out of nothing we have an idea, we think it will be good, we call it into being, we work on it, we have faith it will happen, we concentrate on that, we do not try to create other things at the same time, we concentrate on that one step. We know when to finish (the 1st day 2nd day etc),we reflect on what we create afterwards until we see that it is good (in our best interests, meant to happen in that way) and then we move into the next stage, continually reflecting and refining - All is well and all is well and all will be well. Doesn't this stop us from being discouraged, to keep working away until we see that it is good, to always do what we can, stop procrastinating and finally to rest and enjoy what we have created.

How many self help books have been published looking at this and it is there in the bible all the time.

Any thoughts anyone? Any more positive constructive stuff???

The whole Adam & Eve story could've been a story about mixing DNA / reptilians.
Technically, isn't it Eves fault? She was told not to, then got influenced to eat the apple & get Adam too as well - by a snake.

Ok. Was she blonde? :) Nearly all pictures of 'Eve' has her as a blonde.

It's a bad wrap for the females. All their fault. :D Why couldn't she have just said ' no' or 'wait for that God thing to comeback so we can discuss.'

No no, it takes two to tango. Adam should've run far far away.

or is it Gods fault?
"I have a good idea, I'll make a apple tree, but then tell the ones living near it, not to eat the fruit. Oh but they can use everything else. Just not that tree." - God.

But maybe the whole thing was a test. God was all like "hey Lucifer, my creations are awesome!' Lucifer was all cut & decided to make his creations look like dumb asses & set the scene for today.

Note how the OP calls it "A beautiful and ancient legend", yet he brings another one to the table. One of HIS own view / interpretation / man made fable.

Good stuff.

The unsaved world LOVES to pick the Bible and change it to their own man made sinful theories.

I read "A B C" but perhaps it really means "C B A". And you wonder why the world is so utterly confused out there with all kinds of ridiculous philophies, cults, religions and whatnot. The OP could very well start his own cult and make money out of it. That's how cults start, they pick the Word of God and change it to fit their man-made demonic inspired doctrines. (read Roman Catholicism, Mormons, Jehovas, Christian Science, etc etc etc etc).

Logic has abandoned our world long ago ladies & gents. These are the days where I call the background of our forefathers (Adam & Eve) of a fable (a "beautiful and ancient legend"), yet I bring my own fable.

Lovin' it.

Would have been nice to have asked my school teacher if snakes used to speak to people. :p

If that's how the book starts, it doesn't bode well, does it?

See from 5:30 onwards. :D ;)

They changed her name to the screech owl...

When God created Adam, he was lonely, so God created Lilith from the same dust from which Adam was molded. But they quarrelled; Adam [the proverbial domineering male] wished to rule over Lilith. But Lilith [a militant feminist] was also proud and willful, claiming equality with Adam because she was created from the same dust. She left Adam and fled the Garden. God sent three angels in pursuit of Lilith. They caught her and ordered her to return to Adam. She refused, and said that she would henceforth weaken and kill little children, infants and babes. The angels overpowered her, and she promised that if the mother hung an amulet over the baby bearing the names of the three angels, she would stay away from that home. So they let her go, and God created Eve to be Adam's mate [created from Adam's rib, so that she couldn't claim equality].

The only reference to Lilith in the Bible (Old or New Testaments) is Isaiah 34:14, The KJV, following the Vulgate, translates "the lilith" as "the night demon," confusing the lili- with the Hebrew word for night. But presumably Isaiah meant some sort of demon.

a dragon had built its nest at the foot of the tree the Zu-bird was raising its young in the crown, and the demon Lilith had built her house in the middle. while Lilith, petrified with fear,
tore down her house and fled into the wilderness
