Israeli police have tightened security between Jerusalem al-Qods and Tel Aviv, following reports of a soldier being kidnapped by a Palestinian group.

Police set roadblocks and stopped traffic around Ben-Gurion Airport on the highway between the two cities late Thursday night checking all vehicles crossing into the nearby West Bank.

The Israeli army's clampdown began after a female soldier said in the early afternoon that she had seen two unknown people dragging another soldier into a car.

According to the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, a group known as Al-Qods Army had confirmed the news.

The group issued a statement saying it would provide further details "later."

The Al-Qods Army has apparently issued a statement, saying it is holding a soldier who was captured near the Ben-Gurion airport, south-east of Tel Aviv.

Israel rejects soldier kidnapping reports

Israeli authorities have ruled out earlier reports that an Israeli soldier had been kidnapped by a Palestinian group on Thursday.

"Following security assessments by the Israel Defense Forces,
Israel Security Agency and the Israeli Police, earlier reports of the possible kidnapping of a soldier have been ruled out," the military said in a statement on Friday.

On Thursday, the Israeli army said a female soldier had seen another soldier being dragged into a car by two unknown civilians.

Israeli police then tightened security between Jerusalem al-Qods and Tel Aviv as authorities investigated the report. They set roadblocks and stopped traffic around Ben-Gurion Airport checking all vehicles crossing into the nearby West Bank.

According to the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, the news was confirmed by a group known as Al-Qods Army which issued a statement saying it would provide further details "later."

People figured out it was staged, so they claim no soldier was taken?

Of COURSE no soldier was taken. How hard is it for them to claim a soldier was taken but his identity is withheld and blame the defenseless Palestinians? Furthermore, the Iranians even had a poll questioning if Israel planned to sabotage Palestinian peace efforts before this occured. Israel is tired of launching missiles in Arab neighborhoods and blaming Hamas. This is simpler and more AFFORDABLE. All they had to do here was lie, spread it and use it as an escuse to do the military action they intend on doing. This costed israel NOTHING and the only ones losing are the Palestinians. I wish they would try something like this against HazBollah. Israel knows better. ;)
