Yes I agree pduffy and with the blessing and proposal of DEFRA Minister Hilary Benn (The Benn Family now showing their true 'blue blooded' colours) despite protests from many groups...
His e-mail address bennh@parliament.uk if we adopt GM products and be at the mercy of Soros and Co..Monsanto..heaven help us..

The solution to stopping this is not to take them head on, but to out flank them. What we need to be fighting for is honest labeling that requires GM and irradiated food to be clearly labeled as such. Most people would refuse to buy food labeled that way and over time those products would fade away. This is why the food industry is fighting so hard against labeling. They know what will happen if people know what they are really eating.

GM crop imports should be increased, say ministers and farmers
More genetically-modified crops used to feed pigs, poultry and dairy cattle could be imported into Britain to meet the demand for animal feed.
Ministers are pressing the European Commission to speed up approval of GM crop varieties or risk a collapse in the market for home-produced chicken, eggs, pork and milk.
Farmers have warned that unless they can feed their pigs and poultry on GM soya and maize varieties being grown in North and South America — but which are currently unlicensed for use in Europe — they may be forced to leave the industry.
However, a shake-up in the licensing process could take years to achieve, so one option under discussion at the commission is to allow farmers to use non-authorised GM crop varieties with a maximum threshold of GM contamination of 0.5 per cent or 0.9 per cent, as an interim measure.
The move could apply to 30 GM crop varieties that have passed the EU’s scientific tests on health and safety but which still await political approval for use within the EU.
The threat to British farming from the restrictions on GM crop varieties in the European Union was underlined in a consultation paper on the nation’s future food security, published yesterday.
The document also put forward a possible return to wartime rations and even a vegetarian diet in the event of new food shortages or international events that forced Britain to provide enough food to feed the nation.
Improvements to diet and efforts to reduce food waste that ends up in landfill sites and contributes to the country’s carbon emissions are also discussed.
A move to persuade supermarkets to offer half-price goods instead of “Buy one Get one Free” promotions is proposed to cut waste and to help to tackle the country’s obesity crisis.
However, it is the potential collapse of Britain’s £6.8 billion a year livestock sector, which relies on imports of GM soya to feed animals, that makes for chilling reading.
Pigs and poultry, and to a lesser extent dairy cattle, need soya, GM and conventional crops to provide the necessary protein in their diet. The climate in Britain and most of the EU is not hot enough to grow soya.
Growers across the Atlantic are increasingly using new GM varieties, which have yet to receive formal clearance in Brussels, to boost yields.
Many have already dropped the EU as an export market and prefer instead to meet the demand for soya and maize in the burgeoning economies of China and India, where people are eating more meat and poultry.
Shipping companies that transport grain to the EU are also now increasingly wary of accepting grain cargos, fearing hefty costs if any crop is contaminated with a non-approved GM variety. This has led farming organisations to raise fears that the trade may be halted altogether.
In the EU, any product containing an unlicensed GM crop variety is illegal and must be removed from sale. Cargos are tested by EU officials at ports and any crop found with GM material must be destroyed or returned to the exporting country. Shippers have already raised transportation charges to cover the risks.
Hilary Benn, the Environment Secretary, is urging Brussels to accept a speedier GM authorisation process but has not yet agreed a position on a GM threshold in unlicensed crop varieties. Mr Benn said: “If GM can make a contribution then we have a choice as a society and as a world about whether to make use of that technology, and an increasing number of countries are growing GM products.”
The issue is expected to be on the EU agenda in the autumn.

No doubt.
I'm seriously doing my best on coming up with a plan for stockpiling some food - from that efoodsdirect.com
Then again, I waver. Do I just want to go out in a blaze of glory? Or do I want to do my best on helping my children survive....
Thanks!

Bizarrely, it has become revolutionary to simply grow your own natural food. Another indication of how perverted our societies have become.
Stockpile some food (I think the USA has limited food reserves from what I've read before), but if you have the opportunity then grow your own and grow it naturally. I believe this is a big thing in the states (and Britain) and it is very positive in many respects.
** Some food can also be grown indoors of course so long as it gets some sunlight. It may not feed you, but it will keep you healthier!

you know, this may be unrelated but i'm beginning to think the militant calls from organizations like PETA in favour of vegetarianism will easily work to monsanto's advantage.

We must NEVER allow GM crops to be used to feed livestock or allow GM crops to be grown in this country.
Once this genie is out of the bottle it will be impossible to get back in. We will become totally reliant on GM seed suppliers and smaller farmers will be driven out of business like farmers in the US and Canada who have been sued because Monsanto seed drifted onto non Monsanto growers land.
GM crops DO NOT provide higher yields - this is a complete FALLACY.
THERE IS NO FOOD CRISIS - There will be a food crisis if immigration continues unchecked as it is at the moment.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
The biggest threat to our country or yours is GM food. I kid you not - the greatest, most effective and lethal weapon of war is FOOD. History is full of examples.

We already have the council snooping round our houses checking the bins. Wait till Monsanto start snooping round your vegetable patch to see if it's escaped seed is growing in your garden (contaminating it). If you don't have a licence they will have you in court and a hefty fine will be reward for growing your own veggies.
As for vegetarians - the veg they eat will be frankenstein GM with animal genes in it.
If they control food they will ultimately control you.......

Yes, PETA has an agenda that goes way beyond protecting animals.
The past couple of decades have seen the destruction of much of the farming industry across Europe, especially in the past few years in Eastern Europe. And of course in other countries around the world.
Small scale farmers are being pushed out in favour of a few big operators.
It's a massive, massive scam!
Buy locally whenever you can! Support local farmers who you know are growing real food and raising their livestock in decent conditions. Grow your own. And say no to GM foods!
For TPTB to be pushing GM so relentlessly it shows that they are the only ones that will benefit from this outrage. This will effect the majority of the population that are on low income that cant afford real food. I went into Tescos to buy a bottle of squash. They had about 15 brands and only 1 didnt have Aspertame in it, It was the most expensive. I always read the labels and boycot brands that use GM and Aspertame ingredients.

If you can find an alternative, don't buy from Tescos. They are one of the parts in the food crisis machine, squeezing food suppliers out of business, forcing them to cut costs.

Just as these big corporations are lobbying government day and night, to make GM food standard, we need to get on to this pretty sharpish and get people up there lobbying government for our right to say NO to these despicable mandates. It should be completeley up to the individual what they eat, but we are quickly moveing into totalitarian rule now, and big government will soon be in every part of our lives.

Ministers 'ignoring public' on GM food
Trials of GM crops sparked protests from environmentalists
The government has underestimated the intelligence of the public over its policies on genetically-modified (GM) foods, says a new report.
The BBC's Nicola Carslaw: "The government says it has encouraged open debate"
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) report, published on Monday, also says the general public believes the government is biased in favour of GM foods. Many people believe the government wants GM food to be a success because the biotechnology industry may boost the UK economy.
The authors of the report say ministers believed their policies were based on sound scientific grounds and they treated public resistance as irrational.
Science not enough
Dr Frans Berkhout: "Science can't answer all the questions"
Dr Frans Berkhout, Co-Director of the ESRC Global Environmental Change Programme told the BBC that a scientific approach to safety assessment was not enough.
"You need to bring political and ethical judgements to bear - that's central to understanding whether these risks are acceptable," he said. "And to do that you need to bring people into the process and people have very sophisticated and sensible attitudes to these kinds of risk."
UK Environment Minister, Michael Meacher, also speaking to the BBC, said he supported involving the public: "The Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes issued a consultation paper only last week on measures to increase the openness of the safety assessment of GM foods and to encourage more public participation."
Michael Meacher: "I strongly support openness and transparency"
He added: "The fact is that no GM food is approved unless our top scientific advisers are sure it is as safe as its conventional counterpart."
Public ahead of scientists
The report says ministers must change their philosophy on the "science of risk" in order to handle future problems better than past ones, such as the BSE crisis.
The report's editor, Alister Scott, said: "If anything, the public are ahead of many scientists and policy advisors in their instinctive feeling for the need to act in a precautionary way."
"GM food involves new technologies whose long-term environmental effects are uncertain, and where we are quite simply ignorant of the likely range of their potential impacts."
The authors suggest that new forms of decision-making could include citizens' juries, where a selected group evaluates different possibilities, or larger consensus conferences. Other methods could include focus groups and deliberative polls, where people are briefed on an issue and then interviewed as part of a survey.
Experiments suggest GM potatoes damaged rats' stomachs
The report comes out only days after the scientific research which sparked the intense debate over the safety of GM foods was published in the health journal, The Lancet.
Dr Arpad Pusztai suggested his experiments showed that rats fed on GM potatoes suffered stomach and intestine damage. But the experiments were heavily criticised by fellow scientists.
Harry Kuiper from the Netherlands State Institute for Quality Control of Agricultural Products said: "The experiments were incomplete, included too few animals, and lacked controls. The results are difficult to interpret and do not allow the conclusion that the genetic modification of potatoes accounts for adverse effects in animals."

If you don't think they are trying to deliberately poison us all why do they put Aspartame in vitamin pills? Does a pill that is not meant to be chewed and is swallowed whole need to have sugar or sweetener in it?
I was shocked recently to find it almost impossible to get vitamin C and D without Aspartame in it.
They are trying to kill us all ways and it is becoming increasingly difficult to buy food without GM or poison in it.

Yup! I made that mistake a coupla weeks ago - didn't check the label until I got home......really pissed off and angry.
You can also find it in children's medicines; made to be sweet to mask the bad taste.
Evil bastards
BTW - Some pet foods have GM soya in it too. Certain brands when fed to my cats cause them to loose weight, cause their bodies can't get any nutrition from it and become sickly. It isn't on the label so it is trial and error. One giveaway is that the GM stuff doesn't go off it will happily sit there for weeks - a bit like McDonalds immortal burgers. A good test is to put a bowl in the garden for slugs or hedgehogs - who won't touch the GM soya stuff......they ain't stupid.
People don't realize GM food my look like food but it is no different from eating wax show fruit - looks edible but clearly isn't real.
