In the vein of the breathalyzer, Philips has developed an on-the-go drug test, that can be used by the side of the road to test suspected imbibers for cocaine, heroin, cannabis, amphetamines and methaphetamine. Unlike the standard alcohol testing equipment, this one is used by having the suspect spit into a small receptacle, which is then inserted into the measurement chamber which contains magnetic nanoparticles coated with ligands that bind to one of five different drug groups, delivering color coded test results in about 90 seconds. Philips, which has been developing the device since 2001, built it as an optical device that would be easy to mass produce for law enforcement. The company expects to ship them by the end of the year, though there's no word on exactly which markets will employ them as of yet.

i belive salvia is are greatest weapon after few time use its a very good, lets say awakening weapon instantly.

make smoke bombs out of the stuff, which will definitly desrupt riot police etc much more effective than a molotov lol

On the spot saliva testing kits have been around for a good few years, I guess they had to simplify their use so police officers don't get confused! ;)

Exactly , how good are these test's ?.

I mean if I smoke some dope then 2 weeks later im tested ,is it going to pick up on the weed in my system or what ?

They believe that the average conspiracy theorist smokes dope, so if they devise some sort of roadside test to discredit them, they can demonstrate to 99% of the public that conspiracy theorists are mad or on drugs.

This pisses me off. The current drug tests will say whether or not you've smoked marijuana in the last 30 days. So you can be driving and not high at all and still go to jail and lose your license. I wonder if these new drug tests are the same.

these tests are used before they go and molest you with a needle if you dont admit the use.

collecting dna is doubtfull(assumed they use1tester repeatedly).
purpose is kinda covered up, theres no thing the previous tests couldnt do,no?

Many drivers appear unaware of the effects that drugs can have on their alertness, vigilance and ability to react rapidly to unexpected events. Some drugs can also increase the impairing effects of alcohol and fatigue.

The random roadside saliva testing is aimed at making Victoria ’s roads safer for everyone by reducing the incidence of drug driving.
