S.B. ...

not entirely convincing so far. but haven't looked closely. she had a widely televised fuckup in the states where she told parents their kid was dead. he showed up alive (kind of like the 9/11 'hijackers' *grin*)

my g/f is intuitive and she isn't impressed by S.B. she's very rarely wrong on something like that, so i am happy to take her word for it.... :)

I saw her on the Montel Williams show once when I was visiting a friend. My intuition told me that she has basically sold out to the masses. One woman in the audience asked her if she could tell her about her dead father. Without batting an eyelash, Silvia told her that he had incarnated and was a small boy living in England. As much as I believe in these abilities, I am not convinced of her credibility.

This is what sylvias ex husband says;

I said to her as we were washing dishes and she was wiping or whatever, I said "Sylvia, how can you tell people this kind of stuff? You know it's not true, and some of these people actually are probably going to believe that." And she said - and I won't put it exactly the word that she said but she said - but "Screw 'em. Anybody who believes this stuff oughtta be taken." And that pretty much sums up Sylvia's philosophy about the psychic stuff. And it's carried over, you know, into her, quote, uh... fraudulent career
I try to get her out of my mind as much as possible, but the evil that she spews out there, and the damage she does to people - unsuspecting people that are in crisis situations - is just atrocious.

This is what she said to her son;

"Hey, what do you care about these people? You're never going to talk to 'em again. Tell 'em what they want to hear and move on. Collect the money and move on."

I did read a little of her stuff before, and always had a nagging suspicion that something wasn't right....she was describing "heaven" in great detail in one book of hers, like as if that was gospel truth.

Never bothered about her and all these psychics pimping themselves in the mass media....after that.

She's a rip off artist just like Uri Gellar, faith healers and televanglists.

I don't know why Montel Williams gives her so much air time when he could be discussing important issues.

I was listening to Coast to Coast AM with George Noory on January 4, 2006, the night when it was erroneously reported in the news media that 12 of 13 miners trapped in a coal mine had been found alive. Responding to that good news, Sylvia said, "I knew they were going to be found." Later in the program, the news media reported the tragic reverse, that 12 of the 13 miners had been killed in the mine collapse. You can read the transcript here:

Psychics aren't perfect, they can mess up. Besides, it's not like they are a god or some supreme being that knows all! :eek:

There's a difference between not being perfect and being as consistently wrong and blatantly dishonest as Sylvia Browne.

To answer the OP, my very first impression of Sylvia (from the first time I saw her on TV back while I was in high school) is that her only "power" is the ability to make deadpan pronouncements while just making things up on the spot. This is the primary way that she differs from other "psychic" frauds like John Edwards - she states everything so matter-of-factly that even when she's completely wrong, some people believe that she's right, just because she doesn't hesitate when she speaks.

I believe there are some good pages out there that actually detail her yearly predictions, and her success rate - I think that's also a pretty good indicator that she's a fraud.

Probably the best indicator, though, is the simple reality that anyone who really had psychic abilities wouldn't want to exploit them for fame and money; Silvia is pretty clearly all about the cash she pulls in, which is exactly what I'd expect from a blatant fraud.

Yeh, I have to agree with you there on the whole money and fame thing. She has a book out on secret societies now too. LOL!! Wonder why she didn't before others were exposing them.

Any real psychic would never take money to exploit the people. If they do, they will lose their gift.

She's a nice-looking lady for her age;):). I suppose I would call her a "GILF". That's the same acronym as "MILF", but "Grandmother" substituted for "Mother":D

She's written a book on the Illuminati and secret society network:cool:: http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43346

I agree, it's like when people claiming to be "medicine men/women" go around selling ceremonies (spiritual retreats, sweat lodge ceremonies, vision quests, any type of healing session or consultation) they forfeit the Power right then and there once material wealth or financial gain comes into the picture.... It's usually white people with fucked up names that do this (Silver Tree Rainbow Thunder, Flying Eagle Bear Paw, lmao!!) that usually claim to be Native in some way (more than likely Cherokee) but usually aren't and have probably picked their "Native Names" from a hat.... But there are also Native peoples that sell ceremony.... But like those Plastic Shaman, that Sylvia Browne is a major fraud, at least in my gut feeling opinion....
