Dirty Bomb Threat In New York City

Husband was flipping through the channels and the news said that there is a dirty bomb threat in nyc. cops are everywhere, stopping cars etc. I think it is all fear mongering and I am not leaving the city tonight. I live in Manhattan. The news (all the channels) are so sensationalistic and just want to put us in a state of fear so we will hand more power over to them. I am staying put as even if there is a legitimate threat, I have lived a good life, haven't really hurt anyone, and I hope added more positivity into the world and have actually done some good. I am not really afraid to die. I am agnostic, and if there is an afterlife I have been a good person so I am not really worried, and if there is no afterlife I have nothing to worry about anyway.

But what am I talking about anyway, this is an UNVERIFIED dirty bomb threat. So why are they pumping the news with this scary stuff? Ugh. Enough of my rant. Sorry, but at least I can see through their games now..........

Now we are being given information that there is a terror threat. We are told to feel threatened for three months. Don't worry too much about this. They shouldn't do anything until after this interval. Neither should they use the proposed method.

The report about the purported radiological attacks was published on the Israeli Web site DEBKAfile based on a "rush of electronic chatter on al Qaeda sites."



DEBKAfile is a well known disinfo site for starters, a dirty bomb is a bogus threat anyway (see the power of nightmares doco) and this is just another case of turning the fear up so to create the perfect conditions of hysteria.

well i just wanted to make sure that those of you who are not from new york know that this crap was on ALL of the news channels (non-cable at least, i did not check to see what the cable news stations had to say, after flipping through the major stations we just turned the tv off) and they were on the scene w cops and chaos around. it upsets me, because if i didn't know better and was not a member of this forum, etc. i would have been really panicked. it still did put me on edge a bit even though i knew better.

to do this is just disgusting, especially since many new yorker are still suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after 9-11.

my fault for having the television, but my husband is addicted. even he said he wished he hadn't turned on the tv.

You are right. I am also addicted to TV, but I DO NOT watch the news. I get all my current events/news off the net from underground sources. Stay positive, there are millions of us out there, but the toob won't broadcast that news!

They want to scare the shit out of you all, to be blunt.

Dirty bombs don't even work! They're a myth. The radioactive swarf from one present far less of a danger to people than anyone of your country's nuclear power stations! To be poisined by a dirty bomb you'd have to stand in the explosion zone for days!
