Depends who and where...

If a scouser says it, it would mean "In they go". But what "they" are depends on the context... ;)

Some parents want to pretend their children are better than all the other children so they tell them they are indigo even though there is no evidence to this other than some tarot card reader down the street.

I'd say you have to distinguish between the different usages of the term indigo and see whether there is an agenda behind the usage of the term "indigo children".

If Alice Bailey was involved, then my alarm bells start ringing... Newage sewage...

But that doesn't mean that the real meaning of the colour indigo is not worth investigating, but watch out for the newage baggage! ;)

New Age Philosophy

In the metaphysics of the New Age Prophetess, Alice A. Bailey, in her system called the Seven Rays which classifies humans into seven different metaphysical personality types, the second ray of love-wisdom is represented by the color indigo. [8]
The Alice A. Bailey books are bound in the color Persian blue, a shade of indigo.
The color electric indigo is used to symbolically represent the sixth chakra (called Ajna), which is said to include the third eye. This chakra is believed to be related to intuition and gnosis (spiritual knowledge). [9]
The color indigo in New Age philosophy is regarded as representing intuition. [10]

Parapsychology

Psychics who claim to be able to observe the aura with their third eye generally associate indigo, in auras, with an interest in religion or with intense spirituality and intuition. Indigo children are said to have predominately indigo auras. People with indigo auras are said to be in occupations such as computer analyst, animal caretaker, and counselor

Indigo Children? Star Children? Purple with pink spots Children?

These are just New Age propaganda labels. Children with unusual or excentuated abilities have always been born and always will be. Those with Theosophist agendas would like everyone to think that there has been an influx of these children coming through since the mid 70's and that they would show the way and usher in a New wave of understanding. I've been accused of being an 'Indigo' by these groups but it was all just ego-driven drivel to make me feel special in the hope that I would promote their New Age/One World Religion agenda for them.

The bottom line is it's just a label developed to control and manipulate people in order to forward an agenda. Nothing but ego tricks for either the parents or the child/adult in question.

Yeah, people have said that I am an indigo in the past while at meditation seminars and it's basically a modest way of saying how psychic and advanced they are. That they know more about you than you do, while still being detached enough for people not to spot their egotistical display.

I also think that 'indigo' is a made up buzz word, like shifting the paradigm and all that nonsense

There are some creative, intelligent people out there, it doesnt not make them extra special

also I really hate people who refer to themselves as an indigo, thats totally big headed I think

Since we are discussing colours - what is the significance of the colour Magenta.

I once saw a spinning galaxy shape that was magenta coloured, about a foot across, in the corner of a hotel bedroom. It was accompanied by a whispered message in my ear.

The notion of Indigo is New Age garbage. Artists, bohemians and many creative/spiritual people have many so-called Indigo traits. Some people just want to be 'special' and 'different' and so find a label to set themselves apart (and usually superior) to others. It's rollocks.

4. a color ranging from a deep violet blue to a dark, grayish blue.

In the case of my screen name, I'm partial to the color. That's it, I don't believe in the notion of indigo people, star seeds, or crystal people. They're just social labels and badges of honor that people wear to try and separate themselves from the mundane. In actuality, everyone is special. You don't need a title to have knowledge, be empathetic, have a problem with authority, or have an interest in the unconventional. What separates people who do those things is their choice to do so, or their choice not to.
