Several reports have been written in the last couple weeks to today, following unusual high sea levels during tide in multiple parts of the world.

I am quoting several articles linked to in a thread at GLP to which linking i am not allowed here.

It seems that the Global Coastal Events as was announced by the Web Bot Crew are beginning and even covered by the mainstream media now.

Experts struggle to explain bizarre high tides
By Martha Quillin
(Raleigh) News & Observer
Posted: Saturday, Jul. 25, 2009

Weather experts are contemplating a new mystery of the deep blue sea and it has them baffled: why it's been deeper than usual at high tide all along the East Coast for the past several weeks.

Since June, tides have been running from 6 inches to 2 feet above what would normally be expected, even considering seasonal and lunar fluctuations. While local tidal changes are not uncommon, researchers for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration aren't sure they have ever recorded an event like this one, which is showing up all the way from Maine to Florida. In North Carolina, tides have been about a foot above normal predictions.

“Right now we're trying to get a better understanding of what's the cause,” said Mike Szabados, director of NOAA's tide and current program in Silver Spring, Md.

Global warming isn't to blame, scientists say, as the rise was too sudden. Possibly, Szabados said, the explanation lies in something called the North Atlantic oscillation, a disturbance in the atmospheric pressure in the area of the North Atlantic Ocean between the Icelandic Low and the Azores High.

A change in the atmospheric pressure can change wind velocities and directions, which can affect ocean circulation, Szabados said.

NOAA monitors sea level at more than 200 stations along U.S. coastlines. Remote sensors mounted on piers and other structures measure water depth acoustically, sending a signal to the bottom and calculating the time it takes to bounce back. NOAA gets the readings in real time.

Using less scientific methods, boat captains may have noticed they're coming in to dock higher than usual or that it's been easier to navigate shallows behind barrier islands.

The higher tides have also flooded the nests of shore birds and sea turtles close to the water line. The higher water brings an increased risk of rip tides. And if a tropical storm or hurricane strikes before the phenomenon subsides, damage near the shore could be magnified.

North Carolina has more than 300 miles of ocean shoreline, with more than 250,000 insured properties in 18 coastal counties.

High water gets higher

The surge peaked in the third week of June, at the same time the coast was experiencing a high spring tide, and ocean water pushed into places it isn't usually seen except during tropical storms. It washed over a bulkhead at the end of Harbor Island, something Joe Abbate, a wildlife biologist who runs Wrightsville Beach Scenic Tours and Taxi Service, had never seen before.

“It was weird,” said Abbate, who goes by Cap'n Joe.

One evening, he said, he took a group out for a nature tour on his beach catamaran, the Shamrock, and was surprised to see the water over the top of marsh grasses. It had swept out a bunch of trash, he said, and lifted a pair of baby clapper rails with their mother on a mat of dead spartina grass.

“Rails are not very good fliers,” Abbate said. “They're kind of limited in what they can do.”

Not nice for turtle nests

Some of the thousands of volunteers who patrol North Carolina beaches for sea turtle nests during the summer have noticed the higher tides because they've had to relocate nests higher on the beach to keep the eggs from being submerged.

In a normal year, Nancy Busovne, coordinator for the Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project, said that during that week in June when the surge combined with a high spring tide, Busovne said, friends who live on the canal side of the island had several inches of water in their house when the tide came in.

“That's very unusual,” Busovne said.

Szabados said that while the surge has diminished, it hasn't disappeared, and researchers don't know when it will.

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- India's financial capital of Mumbai was put on a high-tide alert with officials expecting a water rise of up to 197 inches (5 meters).
High tides lash the coast near the Gateway of India in Mumbai on Thursday.

High tides lash the coast near the Gateway of India in Mumbai on Thursday.

Sea tides are expected to rise 5 meters Friday, 4.9 meters Saturday and 4.7 meters Sunday, according to a bulletin by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.

"We have installed water pumps along the coast and advise the people to avoid beaches," said Jagtab, an official at the disaster management control room.

Floodgates may also be closed in case the threat mounts, he added.

High tides are also forecast from August 19 to 23.

At least 467 people have died in floods in India from this season's monsoon rains, federal authorities said in their latest report.

Flooding has affected about 1.7 million people in parts of India, according to the disaster management division of the federal home ministry.

The country's main weather office has warned of heavy rains in western and central parts of India.

Unusual high tides at coast could last a decade

By Kevin Myatt (c)
The Roanoke Times

If you go to the beach in the near future, don't be surprised if the water seems a little high.

Tides along the East Coast have been running 6 inches to 2 feet above normal in recent weeks.

Scott Harper wrote about that in a recent article in The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk.

One scientist Harper interviewed, John Boon of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, pointed to the possibility that the Atlantic Ocean is entering a new phase of wind and water currents that could produce similar tides for about the next decade.

"There's no scientific debate that these anomalous cycles happen," Boon told the newspaper. "It's what causes them that's debated."

Scientists are closely monitoring the high tides, which are unusual in the breadth of coast they have affected, essentially the entire Eastern Seaboard.

The scientists interviewed by Harper emphasize that these tides are not believed to be related to the observed rising sea levels on the world's oceans, as the phenomenon has developed suddenly rather than gradually.

Another Web Bot Hit:

Oh, THAT Global Coastal Phenomena

With the scheduled release of the new "Shape of Things to Come" from www.hafpasthuman.com tomorrow - Be sure it is the one with the July publishing date - a number of readers have been pointing at this and that (especially the new blob up in Alaska, for example) and have asked "Is that your global coastal phenomena you've been looking for?"

To refresh your memory on what we had been looking for, based on the predictive linguistics, has been rising waters to indicate the start of some new phenomena that should take about five months to even figure out a name for. In addition, when the conference in Scandinavia reported on sea level changes back in March, that was supposed to set about a 90-day timer since that was to be a preceding temporal (time) marker that the GCE/GCP was about here. Blobs are nice and all, but this just wasn't big enough.

And then NOAA's Tides and Currents team posted this almost unnoticed:

"ALERT: East Coast water levels are currently running above predicted tides

Starting in early June 2009, observed tides have been increasingly elevated above predicted tidal elevations along the entire U.S. East Coast from Maine to the east coast of Florida. During the period from June 19 thru June 24 for instance, these water levels were running between 0.6 to 2.0 feet above normal depending upon location. As of July 1, these anomalies continue, but running lower at 0.3 to 1.0 ft. above normal. It is not unusual for smaller regions and estuaries along the U.S. East Coast to experience this type of anomalous event at this time of year, however the fact that the geographic extent of this event that includes the entire East Coast event is anomalous. CO-OPS will continue to monitor this event and will provide further information on the causes, amplitudes, geographic extent, and the duration of the event.

Scientists are monitoring tides in Virginia and across the Eastern seaboard that are three inches to a foot above average.

The cause of the surge, which peaked last month at two feet, isn't readily known, according to an official with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

"Anomalies do occur," said Michael Szabados, director of NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services, based in Silver Springs, Md.

Szabados said there are myriad possible explanations, from changes in air pressure to unexplainable current shifts, for the high waters. He likened the phenomenon to an El Niño, which affects weather patterns every few years in the Pacific Ocean.

The trend along the East Coast doesn't necessarily mean there will be an increase in tropical storms or hurricanes, said John Boon, a professor emeritus at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.

It does, however, put low-lying areas, such as Hampton Roads, at more of a disadvantage should a storm hit the region, he said. The higher tides would effectively give flood waters a head start at blanketing the region, Boon said.

"It's a double-threat," said Boon, who has studied tides throughout his career.

Water levels are high, but they're still below elevations seen in September 2003, when Hurricane Isabel flooded parts of the region. Boon, who published a report on Isabel, said tides in Hampton Roads were three feet above average and surged nearly eight feet during the height of the storm.

Both VIMS and NOAA noticed the current trend in June, when water levels from Maine to Florida were running between six inches and two feet above normal.

The tides have dropped, Szabados said, but there is no discernible pattern locally.

"It varies from place to place within the Chesapeake Bay," he said.

Wind patterns and currents in the Atlantic Ocean can shift without explanation, said Boon. As a result, sea levels can rise and remain, sometimes for years, at elevated heights before returning to normal, he said.

The anomaly could be the start of a new cycle that may last a decade, he said.

One report another about specially high surf waves.

Saturday, July 26

OSTIA, Italy (Reuters) - Valerio Cleri easily clinched the men's open water 25km world title Saturday to more than make up for missing a medal in the 10km race, despite unusually high surf and strong waves.

The Italian won in five hours 26 minutes to roars of delight from the home crowd on Ostia beach, with Australia's Trent Grimsey second and Russian Vladimir Dyatchin a distant third.

Cleri was fourth in Wednesday's 10km race but thought he had won bronze when third-placed Francis Crippen missed a gate. However, judges decided against disqualifying the American.

Swimmers had to deal with especially large waves Saturday which pushed the buoys on the course close to the shore.

The choppy seas meant Cleri's time was 22 minutes behind Maarten Van der Weijden's winning mark at last year's open water worlds in Seville.

The women's 25km race finishes later Saturday off the coast west of Rome.

German favorite Thomas Lurz won the 5km and 10km races earlier in the week to rack up eight world titles.

Britain's Keri-Anne Payne took the women's 10km crown on Wednesday after Australia's Melissa Gorman had snatched victory in Tuesday's 5km event.

Re: WARNING-Global Coastal Event UNDERWAY Quote

Posted today from New Zealand:

Bad weather has wreaked chaos in Wellington, affecting almost every road in and out of the city.

The downpour has raised concerns about how bad weather leaves the capital vulnerable.

The capital is no stranger to bad weather, but Thursday night was one of the worst ever, with unusually high waves with a higher than normal tide, high winds and heavy rain battering the city.

Wellingtonian bus commuter Keith Morris says it was absolutely torrential with rain pouring down in Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt.

Morris said his bus trip home through the Hutt Valley's flooded streets took three times as long a the usual 50 minutes on Thursday night.

There was a long line of northbound traffic on State Highway One north of Wellington after a slip at Pukerua Bay closed the road for three hours.

There were also delays in the Hutt Valley due to flooding.

State Highway Two on the Rimutaka Hill Road was shut and a derailed train blocked access to the Wairarapa.

The Chamber of Commerce said that cost to the city, and the country, could be millions of dollars.

At one point Thursday night, every single route in and out of the city was a no-go zone.

Jo Bransgrove from the Wellington Chamber of Commerce says that is not what the capital of the country should be like when bad weather hits.

"It leaves us as a cut off capital and that's no good, it's no good for us, it's no good for New Zealand," says Bransgrove.

Bransgrove thinks the city was in a fragile state on a wild night.

"It had a huge impact so, that's why we need to make provision for that and get the transmission gully started immediately."

But others say even the gully, another possible route out of the city, could not have kept Wellington going last night.

Fran Wilde, from the Greater Wellington District Council, said people in the city wanted to have good infrastructure that performs most of the time.

"We cannot plan for the most severe weather events. It's just not physically and financially possible," says Wilde.

Transport Minister Steven Joyce has been looking into the Wellington issue and says the route from Levin to Wellington Airport is a priority for him at the moment.

He says he is currently getting advice on the different options, including transmission gully and there should be a decision made by the end of the year.

Landslip

The rain is believed to have helped trigger a landslip that is still on the move and threatening expensive cliff-top homes in east Auckland.

The slip in the suburb of Buckland's Beach caused a balcony to break away.

The house started slipping last winter and has dropped another metre since Monday.

The authorities are on Friday night closely monitoring the situation and are warning people to stay away, as the area poses a significant danger.

Could it have anything to do with the "weid" bright star which has appeared in the sky over London recently ( See THE SUN coverage ) and see STAR SIGN video on You Tube.

Certainly a bright strange moving point of light in the sky - brighter than everything else by miles. Some are saying it is bluebeam.....others Jupiter ?.....but it jumps around when you try to film it.....which is very strange.

Would certainly have some effect on the tides if it is in our orbit ?

Tides flood roads, erode dunes

An exceptionally high tide yesterday afternoon swamped low-lying coastal areas around Dunedin and washed away vast chunks of the sand dunes between St Kilda beach and Lawyers Head.

Flood-prone streets such as Marne St, Teviot St, and parts of Portsmouth Dr were closed for up to an hour and a-half, although Dunedin City Council roading maintenance engineer Peter Standring said last night, that did not stop motorists ignoring the signs and driving through the water.

The timing and height of tides are governed by the position of the moon and sun relative to the earth and are normally predicted with accuracy, unlike the most recent tides.

Yesterday's high tide, about 5.30pm, was known as a king tide - one expected to be particularly high because of the closeness of the moon to the earth.

The National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa) had already predicted yesterday's high tides would be the highest in New Zealand this year.

St Clair Surf Lifesaving Club captain Antony Mason estimated the high tide was about 70cm above normal.

Usually, water rose to about 50cm below the floor and deck of the club's training shed on Otago Harbour.

Yesterday, seawater swamped the deck, popped floor boards in the shed and floated surf skis sitting on the floor.

"It was extreme. I've been involved with the club for 25 years and I never seen a tide like this."

The two high tides yesterday had lowered sand levels on the beach near Lawyers Head "quite dramatically" and eaten into sand dunes at Middle beach, council reserves team leader Martin Thompson said last night.

A small section was eroded from the end of Moanarua Rd.

Contractors would be on the beach at dawn today to try to shore up a rubble wall at the base of the dunes to prevent further damage.

With further high tides and storms predicted through to next week, the council would be monitoring the erosion closely, he said.

i wonder what made the water do that. couldnt be ice caps melting could it? cuz that would take a SHIT ton to make levels like these..... so whats next... Gravitational Pull is off? certainly. From one of two things- Nibiru or the Pole Shift thats taking place, due to the planet, or earth itself... Keep in mind we have strange space activity recently...put the pieces together.... no one else will for us...

Remember the recent solar eclipse?
The height of the tide is determined by the position of celestial objects, the Moon and the Sun being the most important ones. When the Moon and the Sun are along a line and on the same side of the Earth, their gravitational pulls add up (forces are vector quantities, they have magnitude and direction).

In London it has been around 23 degrees C for over 4 weeks now with hardly a day that is not in the range of 22 - 24 degrees. One day was hotter. But the weather has often been overcast with rain. Very few sunny days. Even the Daily Mail has called the UK weather "weird" yesterday - and our weather is usually changeable but does seem strange at the moment.

Certainly something is occurring. No idea what though.

I've see the south shore like this, it gets gnarly. I once saw a good sized sloop get cleaned out by a 12ft set as it tried to leave Ala Wai harbor.

Image shows someone surfing Ala Wai Bowls. This is right alongside the harbor channel. The 10ft waves the above Star Bulletin piece mentions would be about twice the size shown in the image. Usually we only get one huge swell like that every summer.

The Time Monks from halfpasthuman.com have been following the rising sea levels in their data sets for awhile. Another possible explanation is land subsidization.

Could the cause of this be as a result of the moon being in conjunction with another astronomical body thereby increasing the gravitational pull of the moon? Resulting in higher tides.

That's known as as a Spring Tide, which happens every New Moon when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction (the opposite is a Neap - pronounced 'nap' Tide). The Moon is currently an 18% Waxing Crescent. As the Moon's orbit is elliptical it comes closer to the Earth at different times and when that happens at the same time as a New Moon the Spring Tide effect is accentuated, and this is known as a Proxigean Tide. They happen approximately once every 1.5 years. There is a good site with a nice graphic to illustrate this here: Moon Tides (http://home.hiwaay.net/~krcool/Astro/moon/moontides/)

It was at about this time last week, that I looked, out of the window as I lay on my bed. Trying to fall asleep. I saw a bright light in the sky. At first, I thought it was a police chopper, with a bright searchlight, looking for some trouble makers or such. However, when I squinted and focussed past the smeared glass. There seemed to be no movement at all, from the bright light. Brighter than any star I have seen, well except the Sun of course. No, this was strange, very strange, and high in the nights sky. With a sudden realisation I imagined a spaceship of invaders baring down on us all. Here to do unthinkable things, and unthinkable actions, in unthinkable ways. It was of course just my survival instinct kicking in.

Who would of thought, that something so beautiful, would have that effect. Instead of creating love, it would create fear. So we seem to react at times, like everything is a threat. That anything, we dont know the reason for. The unexplained, is to be subjected to sinicism and suspicion. When perhaps, we need to be less fearful of new things, no mater how strange they first appear to be.

I dont know, if I should be glad that others have seen this bright light in the nights sky. Could it just be explainble away, as nothing more than, a different alignment of the stars and planets. Chirion caught all us laymen off guard perhaps. Us chickenlickens that cluck and squak, with each and every shifting in the scenery are fear driven. We are allowing our fears, to dictate how we perceive anything new. This bright star is just that. A bright star shining, for those of us who are fortunate enough, to catch a glimpse of it, in all its glory.

Good grief, I hear screams from the street, at this hour of the night. What could it be, that is causing so much noise to come from this otherwise. Much missed and misearable local. Its not, it cant be, no please not that. I can see it now. Yes coming bigger, in the street. A bright light is now shining directly at me. What can it be. It is making some loud noise now. A whirring and screeching is taking place. I have got to take a quick look. No it has gone. Shot out of my field of vision. Heck, quick help me. Where has it got to. Theres not a sound now. No light and no sound where once there was much musical mayhem. Shit, what was that. Was it the door being banged on. It cant be. No not now. Please God not now. I'm not ready. What will I do. I'm not prepared for this.

So I walk to the door. At the last moment I realsie that I am unarmed. I look frantically around me in the hall. I can't seem to find anything of might. I see a stick but when I pull it from the assorted bags and shoes shoved in the corner. It turns out to be a feather duster all pink and fluffy. Hmm perhaps better to be without it. As I visualise a first encounter remembered for all time, as me being that bloke with the pink fluffy duster.

Then there is a knock on the door. I reach forward, and my heart has sort of risen up my throat, and is perched on the back of my tongue. Anticipation is growing with an ever relentless pace. My stomuch turns, and I hold my breath in case the emotion may be heard in each and every whimpered sound it brings to life. Then I sieze the moment and swing the door wide open. To be met with a greeting of 'alright mate, that'll be, nine ninety nine then please'. I reach into my pocket and pull out the crimpled ten pound note and with an air of aloofness utter 'keep the change'. The pizza guy gives me a look as if to say tight cunt next time I'll play football with it and fart a few times on it.

not as drastic as the 2006 floods, but this seems to be becoming a common thing every year all of a sudden.
