Andrew MacKinlay MP quits over hacker Gary McKinnon's extradition
Andrew MacKinlay has developed a reputation as one of the most hard-working MPs at Westminster and has admirers on both sides of the house

Andrew MacKinlay is to quit the Commons at the next election after becoming disillusioned with the ability of backbenchers to stand up to Government.

Only 10 Labour MPs voted for a review of the extradition treaty under which the Asperger's sufferer is being sought, even though 74 had signed motions in support of his case.

Mr MacKinlay, who has represented Thurrock in Essex for 17 years, accused his fellow Labour MPs of putting party orders before conscience and said he was disillusioned about the direction the Commons was headed.

"I believe it's the role of backbenchers to probe and criticise," he said.

"In instances like the McKinnon case, which relate to people's rights and liberties as well as common sense, you should just spurn the diktats and the Whips

"I was really frustrated by the vote last week. Many of my colleagues had expressed their sympathy for Gary McKinnon. But when the crunch came, they just went tribal and followed the diktats of the party."

Mr MacKinlay has developed a reputation as one of the most hard-working MPs at Westminster and has admirers on both sides of the house. He cited exhaustion as another reason for his decision to step down.

Last night Mr McKinnon's mother Janis Sharp thanked the MP for his public protest.

'It's incredible, wonderful news and this man has my complete and total respect. I think it's tremendous that he has the strength to stand up and do what he believes is right," she said

The High Court will rule next week on a last-ditch appeal against the decision – backed by the Home Office, to send Mr McKinnon to the US.

Mr McKinnon is accused of hacking into Nasa and Pentagon computers, but his supporters claim he is just a misguided UFO enthusiast who would be unable to cope with life in an American jail.

I thought only tory MPs had the balls to make a stand on the Big Brother state but I am pleasantly surprised that one of the Nulabour MPs has the teeth to stand up for what's right.

Well done.

I was reading McKinnons FHM interview and he did say he found / was sent an extremely good quality picture of a 'ufo' / military flying craft. Nothing on Free Energy though.
Yet I feel certain he found some dirt the PTB are raging about to have in their clutches...

If the electorate only voted for independent candidates things would shift. Removing party whips and PM appointed front benchers could only be a good thing.

Its time their credibility was in keeping with the position they hold. Serving members of parliament voting with a conscience and no party ties would be a refreshing change.

We would be far better off with unknown random members of the public standing, than the spineless self serving reprobates, currently committing treasonous acts against us on a daily basis.

Lets hope he doesn't got to the Scotland for a wee bit of RNR. The air on the hills leaves one prone to a spot of heart trouble...no matter how fit you appear to be. (RIP Robin Cook) Having principles, seems to be a condition associated with coronary thrombosis.

Let us not forget that McKinley was the MP who gave Dr. Kelly such a hard time at the Commons hearing before he was murdered.
McKinley is an establishment devil through and through.

The way the uk govt. have caved in to US pressure on this issue is sickening, but hardly surprising. My thoughts are that the biggest concern of the US is what Gary may have unearthed regarding 9/11, and if anything, what he is capable of doing with that information. The Mail's ostensibly well intentioned campaign to revoke Gary's extradition had in my eyes a more subtle aim, and that was to align Gary with the 'little green men', and 'flying saucer' brigade, in an effort to discredit any incriminating evidence he may have.

Yes, take to the streets over this. I'm fuckin sick of these yes men.

This case has saddened me so much.
Apparently Sarah Brown was in tears about it..
You'd think she could have a word with her husband to sort it out!
Shows how little power the PM has I guess.
The mail's campaign is well intentioned I think.
The guy has Aspergers syndrome, and shouldn't be treated in this disgusting manner.
So much for that liberal, compassionate, reasonable man Obama....all he'd have to do is step in and say no
Makes me sick. Poor Gary, my thoughts are with him.

If he found out some important info then why didnt he spread it around.
I mean what was the point of him hacking if he isnt going to publish somewhere online what he read. I mean really what a waste of time.

Unless he truly is just, excuse me for using this word, a retard. I mean really what was the point. what did he learn and why keep it to himself?

Does anyone else feel this way? It frustrates me and it makes me not want to give a shit about what happens to him if he isnt going to share what he saw.

Who would publish it if he was to tell them , and come on giving out the information he discovered, will certainly not benefit his likelihood if getting out of this situation

Well all he has to do is log on to this site or one like it. That is an excuse, anyone can publish anything on the net.

Hey he is fucked anyway so he might as well be a martyr. I would tell people, if not then WHAT WAS THE POINT!

For attention?
To feel good about himself?
To feel smarmy and smart?

He is in trouble anyway so he might as well have some courage.
Really what a waste of space, time and body to keep it all to himself.
He was the one that was DUMB enough to leave a little note on someone's computer. It did NO ONE any good and now he is going to go to jail for it.

I say it again-----WHAT A WASTE.

The interview he gave to FHM was interesting.

He is under a gagging order and spilling the beans could very well cost him any chance of fighting it out in court and spur the extradition. He'd last 5 seconds in a US nick so is keeping schtum.

The UK is the US lapdog in all but name, remember that and you'll see why we aren't sticking up 2 fingers to the USA on this one.

I will have to check out the interviews he did and see what he says.

I mean actually it doesnt matter. I dont need the govt to tell me the truth because I have known it my whole life.

Aliens are something that I have always had experiences with ever since I was about 5 years old. I was never abducted but have gone to meetings on ships in the dream state. I have seen tons and tons of UFO's and have spoken to 2 aliens through a channel in CT. This channel I talked with is so underground that he never came out publicly and would only channel them in his home for certain people. I wish he would come out publicly because I would like to talk to them again through his body instead of telepathically.

THeir names are Arc and Quarton. Call on them telepathically. They are awesome and if you get the chills when you call on them that is a sign that they are there. They are of the light and even they told me that there is a war going on for this planet between the light and the dark side (nwo, greys, dracs and their allies).

I saw their ship in 95 with my friend late at night in Ct. It was like a small round car sort of with no wheels but 2 big headlights that were not blinking. Me and my friend could just stand there with our mouths open. WE couldnt believe how close it came. We were paralyzed but STOKED! All the rest I saw were in the distance in the sky.
