In this article from the telegraph Mr Sigfússon says

Britain’s 'gunboat' diplomacy still angers Iceland (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financetopics/financialcrisis/5889325/Britains-gunboat-diplomacy-still-angers-Iceland.html)

"Mr Sigfússon, a Left-Green radical, said his moral mission is to slam the door on the Iceland's 20-year foray into free-market adventurism, an era that saw the big three banks evolve from sleepy state lenders into global-macro hedge funds with liabilities equal to 11 times GDP.

The trio of Landsbanki (mother of IceSave), Glitnir, and Kaupthing collapsed in October with $60bn (£36bn) in foreign debts, a colossal sum for a nation of just 300,000 people.

"We're going to move away completely from these catastrophic policies. We will bring the country back to its course as a Nordic welfare society, with a strong public sector, and a redistribution of wealth," he said. "

Are there any Ivelander who can comment on what is going on? How can teh UK governemt be classing iceland in the same league as international terrorists?

Also, does anyone else think that the financial collapse in Iceland may have been engineered as a small scale experiment to see what happens in such an event as tptb are concerned about what mey happen in US and other developed countries?

Also, they are bringing in socialism in Iceland by the looks of it, will the US and Europe inevitable follow this model? I think it will and I think Iceland is a flagship country for the NWO engineered financial collapse.

I've worked in Iceland recently and will hopefully be going back to live their in November.

In Reykjavic (the capital) there was a shop selling tee-shirts with Gordon Browns face on it with the slogan "Brown is the colour of shit". I asked my Icelandic colleagues what was the deal with all the UK hate and they said that they have no problems with the people of the uk, the the greedy leaders.

The icelandic people tend to be a lot more philosophically evolved than most British people i've met and most of them keep an eye on what their governement is up to. After the banking crisis, they removed their last leader by mobbing the area surrounding his home and making as much racket with pots, pans, bin lids and anything generally noisey. He resigned in three days.

The main stories that I was told by the Icelandic is how Britain would break the fishing treaties. The British would turn up with navy war vessels to guard their ships as they fished in the Icelandic waters. Iceland responded by using giant underwater scissors to cut the fishing nets without the navy seeing.

Iceland is also a natural wonder. The country is run on 85% renewable energy, with most of it coming from volcanoes and hot springs. The standard of life there, even in the recession is brilliant. Everyone gets hot water, everyone gets heating and light, theres enough food to go around.

I also met several millionairres whilst I was there. When talking about the economy, they said that Gordon Brown had promised assistance to the Icelandic banks. This secured confidence from bankers so they kept the money in the banks. At the last minute, I mean the very last minute, Gordon Brown said the UK would no longer offer asssitance. This fucked everything up.

I don't know how much of this is accurate because we all know that the man on the street never knows as much as the man in the government. But these stories were all the talk of Iceland at the time.

I love it there. I really do hope I get to live there in november.
