Pharoahe Monch, this is one of my favorite rappers, very conscious about what's going on "behind the scenes" and his style is sort of abstract sometimes but I really like a his work. This song is kind of old but it's a must listen and it's relevant. He touches a bunch of different topics all in one we're all familiar with and is simply put yet so important imo.
Let me know if anybody has problems listening to it, it should begin shortly after clicking the link but I can provide alternatives.
I've supplied the lyrics for your viewing from me personally since a lot of sites on the internet have them wrong.
[Chours Intro]
Please lord forgive me for my sins
My life is all I have to give
Please lord forgive me for my sins
My life is all I have to give
Damn you that lost the will to live
[Verse 1]
Pissed on the motherfucking White House lawn
I threw "Ir-aq", and "I-ran"
Cause I couldn't stand anymore within the grips of the man, and..
Y'all wanna ask me "Hussein?"
These biological gasses are eating my brain
Its a political grab-bag to rape mother earth
Thirty seconds after they "Baghdad" for what he's worth
Thousands will die now so millions will smile later
This ain't the +Rockford Files+ nigga-
They stockpile data from satellites
Where you discuss who's style's greater
In this killing pool you playing it cool like Kyle Jada
When ya'll ready to rock like Led Zep and Al Qaeda
With weapons of mass destruction an hour later
What's your identity today?
You on some John F. Kennedy or Timothy McVeigh?
This Henessy done left me with a remedy to spray
For my identity your life is the penalty to pay
Motherfucker
[Monch] {Crowd}
[Y'all ready to rock?]
{We ready to rock}
[Y'all ready to roll?]
{We ready to roll}
[Hook 2]
My life is all I have to give
Please lord forgive me for my sins
My life is all I have to give
Damn you that lost the will to live
Trapped in the game
Just tryin to win (3x)
[Verse 2]
It's not a Vietnam song
I know women from desert storm who came back deformed
Missing limbs and disease and their legs numb
From chemicals twice as strong as agent orange
*(Audio of him saying "Mind-Control" in reverse)"
It's messages in the bass drum
War goin on for your mind no man's safe from
Its not a "Game Boy" Xbox, or PlayStation
Its +Resident Evil+ when every President's a mason
"Robbin" y'all fools like Dick Grayson
Of your inherited roots and you don't know how to retrace them
Place them back - Face them facts - Disgraceful - faceless - tasteless acts
Pharoahe takes the authorities to court
Peep crime before it happens like +Minority Report+
And I will never be mentally defenseless
Catch me on the block, in the hood in the trenches sayin:
[Monch] {Crowd}
[Y'all ready to rock?]
{We ready to rock}
[Y'all ready to roll?]
{We ready to roll}
[Hook 3]
My life is all I have to give
Please lord forgive me for my sins
My life is all I have to give
[Monch] {Crowd}
[Y'all ready to rock?]
{We ready to rock}
[Y'all ready to roll?]
{We ready to roll}
[Monch]
Damn you that lost the will to live
Trapped in the game just tryin to win
[Monch] {Crowd}
[Y'all ready to rock?]
{We ready to rock}
[Y'all ready to roll?]
{We ready to roll}
[Monch] (2x)
Lock! Load! Into position
Rock! Roll! Its primitive condition
[Monch]
Lock! Load!
Rock! Roll!
Into position
[Crowd] (2x)
We ready to rock
We ready to roll
I will be posting a reply in this thread to explain some of the lyrics because you might not understand some things (except for what we all know) and some statements are abstract so i'll also be placing my "analysis" on those parts.

[Verse 1]
Pissed on the motherfucking White House lawn
I threw "Ir-aq", and "I-ran"
Obviously an act of defiance using current places of war in place of
"a rock" and I ran as in ran away after the act. In fact when this was released
Iran wasn't even talked about as far as invading like it is today but it was inevitable,
(This song is from 2003).
Cause I couldn't stand anymore within the grips of the man, and..
Y'all wanna ask me "Hussein?"
Obviously meant to double as "Who's Sane?" but keeping
within political topics. We always deal with having our sanity
question even though we know what's really going on, we can
relate I'm sure.
These biological gasses are eating my brain
Its a political grab-bag to rape mother earth
Pretty straight forward
Thirty seconds after they "Baghdad" for what he's worth
Thousands will die now so millions will smile later
This ain't the +Rockford Files+ nigga-
They stockpile data from satellites
Baghdad used to illustrate bagging real societies with real living people with real lives as nothing more than a candy store for the elite for their own gains and agendas. Lives will be cost so that they can reap the benefits and accomplish their goals. Rockford files was a tv show..he's telling you what goes on..stock piling info about each of us is not some fictional piece of entertainment but it's real life, we're being decensitized to think otherwise.
Where you discuss who's style's greater
In this killing pool you playing it cool like Kyle Jada
When ya'll ready to rock like Led Zep and Al Qaeda
With weapons of mass destruction an hour later
In the spirit of stock piling data like he mentioned previously..much in the way actions/phone calls/communications are being tracked...while "you discuss who's style's greater" meaning distractions, bickering argueing, even in rap music about who's better than who, the general public fails to realize they're living in a killing pool, their governments are killing them and are the real terrorists yet we are brainwashed and sit back cool. Then we're ready to "rock" or go to war (rock band reference to led zepplin obviously) and much like al qaeda be a terrorist yourself with no knowledge of what's really going on to support terrorizing other people ironically the same way as an "al qaeda" group would. so he's saying here..people drown in their ignorance lazily and then have the nerve to jump up the next second "well informed" & take equally bad actions unjustified without getting the full picture the very next "hour" as he puts it. Weapons of mass destruction obviously being ignorance, going along with it and deploying such an action uninformed.
What's your identity today?
You on some John F. Kennedy or Timothy McVeigh?
This Henessy done left me with a remedy to spray
For my identity your life is the penalty to pay
Motherfucker
I'm not sure exactly if I'm correct but I believe he's saying...will you obey your master, are you willing to die for what's right and turn on him? Even though you're not perfect will you take a more peaceful yet flawed human route like JFK or will you be Timothy MicVeigh who's supposed to be terroristic? Which side are you going to take because you must choose now! He also could mean though...how the elite manipulate both sides...in this case he's addressing directly the government and who are you playing to manipulate us today? A puppet president who you will kill or a patsy, controlled terrorist, inside job like the Oklahoma city bombing done by Timothy McVeigh. The last line about paying the price for taking his identity...obviously...in conjunction with talking about two different identities in the last lines...is talking about RFID chips or implantation, and before you take my identity there will be a fight and hell to pay.
[Verse 2]
It's not a Vietnam song
I know women from desert storm who came back deformed
Missing limbs and disease and their legs numb
From chemicals twice as strong as agent orange
Obviously talking historically about Vietnam and Agent Orange and also letting the public know in case they didn't...agent orange wasn't the only isolated incident of soldiers being treated like this with chemicals etc....it always has and always will go on.
*(Audio of him saying "Mind-Control" in reverse)"
It's messages in the bass drum
War goin on for your mind no man's safe from
Obviously playing off of what we all know about Project paperclip, mk ultra, monarch etc. The lyrics are straight forward.
Its not a "Game Boy" Xbox, or PlayStation
Its +Resident Evil+ when every President's a mason
It's not a game, boy referring dually with that statement to the handheld video game system gameboy, similarly mentioning other game systems: xbox and playstation. Obviously reminding people this is real life, not a game. He mentions Resident Evil which is a video game title which ties in nicely that it's a "domestic evil" when every president is chosen, a freemason.
"Robbin" y'all fools like Dick Grayson
Of your inherited roots and you don't know how to retrace them
People may not understand this...Dick Grayson is the real name of the fictional comic book character Robbin from Batman and Robbin, obviously creating a dual meaning with wordplay between robbing everybody of their real roots or origins/facts through confusion. Much like changing of history in George Orwell 1984
Place them back - Face them facts - Disgraceful - faceless - tasteless acts
Pharoahe takes the authorities to court
Peep crime before it happens like +Minority Report+
And I will never be mentally defenseless
Catch me on the block, in the hood in the trenches sayin:
Pretty straight forward, Minority Report was obviously a movie based on Philip K. Dick's short story of the same title where people are arrested by police who have technology to see you commit a crime before you actually do and arrest you on it. Pharoahe is saying these plans are predictable..he see's much like we do what's up from a mile away before it takes place.
When you dissect the simplicity yet heavy meaning and how abstract and truthful, informed, and deep simple word plays and references are, you can really appreciate it even though it's a simple yet powerful song. I don't know, I really like it, just thought I'd share it with you all.

Reads more like from 1997-8 to me. But then what would I know. In the context of this Rap it is Minority report as in ethnic minority. Not the film minority report. I could go on but whats the point whne the big coporations have brainwashed everyone with their lies adn half truths. Besides way too many Winston Smiths employed changing the past to fit the lies of the winners in the Intellectual Property Wars carried out by corporations with the backing of the security services. Like I have always said dont believe the truth!

nah i have the release, it's 2003. This was pretty much inspired by the things 9/11 perpetuated. The reason desert storm is mentioned is because he's showing history repeats, Agent Orange isn't the only chemical nor is Vietnam the only time this has been done to soldiers, he's speaking on instances he knows from people he knows personally. With that logic it's like saying the whole song's name is Agent Orange so the song must of been released in the 60's lol.
And i have to disagree that it's ethnic minority but he clearly states the premise of the movie which is "peeping a crime before it happens" like the movie which is significant because lots of these agendas aren't random, their moves are predictable.

Its agent orange due to the Orange jump suit that Timothey McVeigh was forced to wear... The reference is in the repeating of ffa. As first there was the bombing of the WTC car park and then it was repeated with the bombing of OKC.
The corporations that own the planet change history to protect and cover up their deeds. They actively employ agents like the character Winston Smith in 1984 to go back and change the recorded past. All I will say again is, Dont Believe The Truth. Do you really believe what you hear when someone is trying to sell you something for financial gain. Did I charge you anything for this info.

Ian......did Pharoahe steal these lyrics from you??
