Hi Everyone,
I would like to start a new tread on which people can post what they troughout their lives have experienced as Words Of Wisdom. These words can take many forms for instance song lyrics, quotes from books, movies, poems, people etc. I often see very nice signatures but so far I haven't found a tread that collects all of these. I read a lot and throughout my life I have heard and read many, many inspiring words of wisdom. The first I would like to post here is a text that I have had for over 18 years now, but I am so sorry to say that I don't know who wrote it. I will post it here and hope that it will be an inspiration to you too.

THINKING
If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don't
If you'd like to win but think you can't, it's almost certain you won't
If you think you'll lose, you're lost
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellows will
It's all in the State Of Mind
If you think you are outclosed, you are
You've got to think high to rise
You've got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize
Life's victories don't always go to the stronger or the faster man
Because sooner or later the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can...

"Four things to learn in life: To think clearly without hurry or confusion; To love everybody sincerely; To act in everything with the highest motives; To trust God unhesitatingly. " - Helen Keller(1880-1968) American Blind/Deaf Author, Lecturer, Amorist

I've Learned - by Omer Washington
I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them. I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back. I've learned that it takes years to build up trust and only seconds to destroy it. I've learned that it's not what you have in your live, but who you have in your life that counts. I've learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes, after that, you'd better know something.
I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do, but to the best you can do. I've learned that it's not what happens to people, it's what they do about it. I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are always two sides. I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you'll see them. I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences. I've learned that there are people, who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it. I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel. I've learned that true friendship continues to grow even over the longest distance same goes for true love.
I've learned that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgive by others, sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself. I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief. I've learned that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I've learned that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions. I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. I've learned that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves get farther in life. I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.
I've learned that writing, As well as talking, Can ease emotional pains. I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon. I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe. I've learned to love and be loved. I've learned.

A profound thought is in a constant process of becoming.
An achievement is a bondage. It obliges one to a higher achievement.
A profound thought is in a constant process of becoming.
Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time.
Don't believe your friends when they ask you to be honest with them. All they really want is to be maintained in the good opinion they have of themselves.
Don't wait for the last judgment. It takes place every day.
Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Walk beside me and just be my friend.
Every revolutionary ends up either by becoming an oppressor or a heretic.
How can sincerity be a condition of friendship? A taste for truth at any cost is a passion which spares nothing.
I shall tell you a great secret, my friend. Do not wait for the last judgment. It takes place every day.
I was absent at the moment I took up the most space.
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
Integrity has no need of rules.
People hasten to judge in order not to be judged themselves.
Real generosity towards the future lies in giving all to the present.
Virtue cannot separate itself from reality without becoming a principle of evil.
We always deceive ourselves twice about the people we love - first to their advantage, then to their disadvantage.

A person who cannot genuinely empathize with others can never excel as a leader. So much of what ails society today is the result of too many people in leadership positions who do not or cannot identify with the plight of their fellow men and women. It is in enduring pain and struggles that the earth of our humanity is cultivated. And it is from this earth that a capacity to be genuinely concerned for the welfare of others blossoms.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

More Lessons of the Shadow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Mel Gibson's film, The Passion of Christ, there is a strange scene in the Garden of Gethsemane at night. A pale, devilish-looking being appears, and a maggot comes out of her nose and goes back in again. She says to Jesus, "No one man can bear the full burden of sin...saving souls is too costly." In essence she was saying no man is big enough to take away the sins of the world. She was Gibson's addition to the script, her line is not in the Gospels. But he was very clever in adding it because he obviously sees the truth of it. The maggot-lady represents Jesus' subconscious shadow talking to him about his darkness. She is his feminine softness appearing in the moonlight pointing out his arrogance, foolishness and macho.
Jesus always denied his dark side. He was tempted three times in the desert by that darkness. First, the Devil said, "If you are who you say you are turn these stones into bread." It is part of our dark side to want to become the great provider, and have millions admire us and thank us for our success and generosity. It is how we get to play god. The film Pretty Woman was a huge hit because it tells the story of a street girl raised up by a billionaire to become his queen. The ego wants to be miraculously raised up, or it wants to be the one that does the raising--the god-like being that can descend from a great height to bestow grace and favor and healing upon ordinary people. It is the narcissistic psychosis of the would-be savior. The problem in the desert was that Jesus couldn't turn stones into bread. His shadow was showing him that.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

- All things happen for a reason and they happen exactly as then have to
- We all are souls, a consciousness thought a life.(eternal)
- There is one more souls in each one of us (and everywhere for all is life)that is all knowing all powerful. Call it great spirit, god or how ever u want for he is one
- Love is not only truth. We are truth. He is truth.
- He is perfection. That encompasses love but also other things as truth(on its own), beauty, holiness, justice(if all love being love worked then there would be no punishment for destroyers of life alike nwo), knowledge, absolute power but also a mercy(none could be worthy to wield such power if he didn't have all characteristics i mentioned). And reason for it being perfect is because it is not some thing "a force" or who knows what that has it but person.
- Life comes out of life
- We don't need to evolve. Only awaken. Witch is instantaneous and can happen in moment for any one of us.
- Awakening is exactly what it says. U awake. Happens each day for every one of us when we brake out of sleep. So called spiritual awakening is same accept one awakens from this state in witch we consider our selfs to be awake already. No, just braking few ideas u have in your mind doesn't mean u awoke.
- Concepts of what is called kundalini energy are mainly false. It doesn't come from bottom of spine it come from your chest. In form of 2 separate paths of energy that connects in your throat a goes up to top of your skull in form of upside down root. When it reaches that point it opens trough all of your brain and activates it in its entirety. And one suggestion i wana make. Don't read false concepts witch are interpretations of people reading ancient scripts. rather read them your self or learn from your personal experience.
- We are not all one. Can we become? Yes from personal experience i know when one is in yoga he indeed is becoming one with absolute. But until one achieves it he is only a fool for saying he is something he is not. (If i hit u in face woud it hurt u or me? So much about being one)
- But we are all same. A life, conscience thought a soul.
- Here is one quote from bhaqavad-gita witch is true and only true path to achieving ultimate goal "Set aside all meritorious deeds and religious rituals, and just surrender completely to My will with firm faith and loving devotion. I shall liberate you from all sins, the bonds of Karma. Do not grieve"
- For all those who see quote witch i gave as religious control (by one surrendering him self completely to over soul) ask your self this. How can one attain perfection, truth, if he is not absolutely aligned with it?
- You are your greatest enemy.
- All battles u fight u need to win within your self. If u set your mind to outside u are only going to get lost.
Anyway just wanted to share some things that i learned from my life. Of course many shall not agree on certain things i sad but there is just one truth it can not be changed and take care of your self all until each one of us finds it.

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children."
And he said:
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

A Valentine for Leo, with Love
Once upon a time
there was this awfully ferocious Lion
with a beautiful mane of long curly hair
who maybe was not always right
though God knows he was never wrong
He didn't roar often, but when he did
the stars hid behind the clouds
and every animal in the jungle shivered and shook
not only with fear
but in awe of the King's majestic dignity
Once on a hot, muggy night
after a dry, dusty day
when everyone's adrenalin was acting up
all the animals decided to fight each other to the death
for no special reason
at least, none that even the elephants can remember
So of course they had to have a leader
who was courageous
and with it
and confident and clever and conceited
and all that
Shrewdly assessing the Lion's compassion for the weak
they picked a perfect patsy as a messenger
a tiny, gentle, one-eyed monkey
whose tail had been blasted off
by some brave and fearless sportsmen
and whose fickle wife had run off with a swinging Cheetah
After a top secret briefing by a flat-headed cobra and an owl
this sad-faced loner was sent to rap with the King
of the jungle
and discuss the animals' bloody proposition
The monkey told the Lion
he could lead either side he chose
as long as neither was deprived of a fair share
of killings
(or he could fight on both sides if he liked
though that would take some diplomatic hustling)
Lying languidly in his scented hammock
this awfully ferocious Lion with the beautiful mane
of long, curly hair
listened carefully to the slick pitch
of the one-eyed, tailless, wifeless monkey
privately deciding
he'd never buy a used car from him for obvious reasons
then he yawned a luxurious Leonine yawn and said
"Tell them to cool it, Man
Hell no- I won't go"
When the animals heard the Lion's answer
they were absolutely knocked out
The proud, royal King of their jungle a coward?
It stung, to say the least
They voted to kill him immediately, of course
if not sooner
but there was a law against that
you see, the war hadn't been officially declared yet
and timing is everything, even in jungle society
Like-
if you're going to mess around with taking lives
you've got to play by the rules
So they decided instead
to lock him up
for 33 years and 3 days
in the cave where Tarzan used to keep
Maureen O'Sullivan
and do you know what happened?
He escaped!
because all the animals were afraid to stand guard
not one of them was as strong as the Lion
Not a single one...

"...The smartest thing to do is pull it."
On the wide level of a mountain's head,
(I knew not where, but 'twas some faery place)
Their pinions, ostrich-like, for sails out-spread,
Two lovely children run an endless race,
A sister and a brother !
This far outstripp'd the other ;
Yet ever runs she with reverted face,
And looks and listens for the boy behind :
For he, alas ! is blind !
O'er rough and smooth with even step he passed,
And knows not whether he be first or last.

Well, life is (too short), so love the one you got
'Cause you might get runover or you might get shot
Never start no static I just get it off my chest
Never had to battle with no bulletproof vest
Take a small example, take a tip from me
Take all of your money, give it all to charity
Love is what I got
It's within my reach
And the Sublime style's still straight from Long Beach
It all comes back to you, you'll finally get what you deserve
Try and test that you're bound to get served
Love's what I got
Don't start a riot

I've liked this quote for years
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.
Socrates
Similar:
I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.
Socrates
When I looked for this quote to see if I got it right I found a few more by him that I like abit. He had a sense of humour :)
By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher and that is a good thing for any man.
Socrates
Beware the barrenness of a busy life.
Socrates
He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature.
Socrates
I was really too honest a man to be a politician and live.
Socrates
Once made equal to man, woman becomes his superior.
Socrates
:p
The unexamined life is not worth living.
Socrates
Go Truthseekers!:)
There are a great many of these accusers, and they have been accusing me now for a great many years, and what is more, they approached you at the most impressionable age, when some of you were children or adolescents; and literally won their case by default, because there was no one to defend me.
Socrates
True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing.
Socrates
True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.
Socrates
Wisdom begins in wonder.

I am very mistrustful of people who are constantly overintellectualising things. It kills passion. You have to allow yourself to lose control from time to time.
Eric Cantona
If you have only one passion in life - football - and you pursue it to the exclusion of everything else, it becomes very dangerous. When you stop doing this activity it is as though you are dying. The death of that activity is a death in itself.
Eric Cantona
My best moment? I have a lot of good moments but the one I prefer it when I kicked the hooligan.
Eric Cantona
Socrates worked towards making people question themselves. He liked to provoke self-interrogation but wasn't particularly interested in the answers that emerged; he just liked to set off the thought process.

Everything your heart experiences about God tells you that God is good.
Everything your teachers teach you about God tells you God is bad.
Your heart tells you God is to be loved without fear.
Your teachers tell you God is to be feared, for He is a vengeful God.
You are to live in fear of God's wrath, they say.
You are to tremble in his presence.
Your whole life through you are to fear the judgment of the Lord.
For the Lord is "just" you are told.
And God knows, you will be in trouble when you confront the terrible justice of the Lord. You are, therefore to be "obedient" to God's commands.
Or else.
Above all, you are not to ask such logical questions as, "if God wanted strict obedience to His laws, why did He create the the possibility of those Laws being violated?"
Ah, your teachers tell you-because God wanted you to have "free choice".
Yet what kind of choice is free when to choose one thing over the other brings condemnation? How is "free will" free when it is not your will, but someone else's will, which much be done? Those who teach you this would make a hypocrite of God.
You are told that God is forgiveness, and compassion-yet if you do not ask for his forgiveness in the "right way", if you do not "come to God" properly, your plea will not be heard, your cry will go unheeded. Even this would not be so bad if there were only one proper way, but there are as many "proper ways" being taught as there are teachers to teach them.
Most of you, therefore, spend the bulk of your adult life searching for the "right" way to worship, to obey, and to serve God.
The irony of all this is that I do not want your worship, I do not need your obedience, and it is not necessary for you to serve Me.
These behaviors are the behaviors historically demanded of their subjects by monarchs-usually ego maniacal, insecure, tyrannical monarchs at that.
They're not Godly demands in any sense-and it seems remarkable that the world hasn't by now concluded that the demands are counterfeit, having nothing to do with the needs of Deity.
Deity has no needs.
All That Is is exactly that: All That Is.
It therefore wants, or lacks, nothing- by definition.
If you choose to believe in a God who somehow needs something-and has such hurt feelings if He doesn't get it that He punishes those from whom He expected to receive it-then you choose to believe in a God much smaller than I. You truly are Children of a Lesser God.
No, my children, please let Me assure you again, through this writing, that I am without needs. I require nothing.

For they are synonymous
And appreciation, acceptance,
and awakening will follow.

Life is lived forwards but understood backwards.
The most unchangable thing is this world/universe is change itself.

Today's mighty oak, is just yesterday's nut, that held it's ground.
...in other words...
Our persistence in what we believe in today, however much of a minority we may be with those thoughts. If held strong for long enough, such as with David Icke, and not waiver from the path of anythingness, than we will prevail one day as the mass of the people and have true enlightenment.

Thanks everyone for posting all these beautiful and inspiring quotes and url's :)
I love my job and it keeps me quite busy so I haven't spent much time on the forum lately. I just read all the new treads and again, love 'em!

LESSONS FROM THE GEESE:
As each goose flaps its wings, it creates an “uplift" for the bird following. By flying in a V formation, the whole flock adds 71% more flying range than if each bird flew alone.
LESSON: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are travelling on the thrust of one another.
Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to fly alone, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the "lifting power" of the bird immediately in front.
LESSON: If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those who are headed where we want to go.
When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into the formation and another flies at the point position.
LESSON: It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership with people, as geese, interdependent with each other.
The geese in formation honk from behind, to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
LESSON: We need to make sure our honking from behind is encouraging-- not something less than helpful.
When a goose gets sick or wounded or is shot down, two geese drop out of the formation and follow it down to help and protect him. They stay with the goose until it is either able to fly again or dies. They then launch out on their own, with another formation, or catch up with the flock.
LESSON: Hopefully we have as much sense as the geese and will stand by each other like that.

yeah... get across the truths with actions. That is what the quote means.
like Ghandi's quote "Be the change you want to see in the world".

But if you seek to understand yourself, you will understand the universe!"
