One morning I was awoken to feel what felt like loads of snakes being turned round my feet and lower legs. As I came to I called out that you had woken me up. With this remark, the sort of tentacles then uncoiled and slithered off of my feet and legs. Leaving me to go back to sleep. I'm unsure how to describe it, except as the erogenous zones of my my lower legs being stimulated. All this without the covers being disturbed. Any ideas on what creature this could of been.

hey ian!
um, in short... no.
weird story man. random. i've known people who've been pinned to their bed (not ordinary sleep paralysis - they coulda actually feel something forcing them down), but haven't heard of the exact thing you describe....

During my toddler days I had a dream which occurred when I was ailing with a fever. In the dream I felt the bed come alive with things that slithered about my body and when I looked beneath the covers I was horrified to see many multi-coloured snakes moving around me.
I find that dream odd because it happened when I was essentially unaware that snakes actually existed due to being raised in a very small town in England. In those days, a snake was probably nothing more than just a letter (S) in the alphabet. Even the old black and white TV box merely dazzled my baby eyes with the flower pot men and such.
So I did wonder about that dream with the snakes. Then many years later I began to experience snake dreams again.
I’ve realised that the multi-coloured snakes I dream about are usually seen in the nice airy fairy / after-life type settings. However! The brown or black snakes in my dreams appear to be portents of illness or death and that’s when I see myself killing the snakes.
Although now-a-days as I presently reside in Australia, if I dream about hearing a snake slithering about I’ll often awake and realise that there actually is a snake slithering about inside the house cavity some-where.

A couple of times, I've been awakened by something hitting my forehead. I'd be asleep, it felt like something (like a rat but it wasn't) jumped on my forehead as it ran past. Then I would awake and the feeling on my forehead would be there and felt real. I'm beginning to wonder if something or someone hit my forehead while I was asleep in the astrol world. This also only happened when I lived in a century old home - don't know if that had anything to do with it.

What makes you think it wasn't your subconscious manifesting your innermost fears into your conscious state?

I know what you mean by snakes here in Au.. I live in the rainforest in N.Q. we have snakes here that grow to eight meters long.. you don't want one in your bed. They're harmless pythons till they get round ya neck..
but seriously now
Sleep paralysis and the associated sentient experiences coupled with lucid dreaming can be pretty scary, up til i was about 20, I had recurring experiences, the house i lived in was quite haunted and several times i was woken up by various incidents ranging from having the covers pulled off the bed and myself being slammed into the mattress to being slapped across the face and waking up paralized to see red glowing eyes in the darkest corner of the room and hearing subaudible sinister laughter, with that same voice calling me by name. only once did I experience snakes, but it wasn't the way you described it... often these experiences are indicative of a high potential for latent or not yet (brain)washed out psychic abilities.
you shuld look up a series of books by Franz Bardon, particularly his book called "An Initiation into Hermetics" you can get it free online in pdf format, I have the hard cover set.. it fully explains these experiences in the context of your spiritual development and how to control it at will. we can all learn how to manipulate the elements, but as a young person we haven't had it dumbed out of us yet and it isn't a trained faculty, so it does what it wants. it sounds like a larvae type entity you experienced and that points to not being a trained initiate, subconscious fears or desires can , if they are intense enough, begin to manifest as these sorts of experience in an attempt to generate the types of energies they need from you to grow, if unchecked these things sort of grow in strength and the effect will increase to increase the reaction from you.. then the larvae feeds and grows. Eventually it will turn into a phantom / phantasm and start to cause other types of emptional /energy responses from their maker, snowballing until you are controlled by those fears/desires/urges and the entity that started out as a thought form will become a vampire, causing all sorts of fears, hatreds, envies, lusts, greeds etc to grow in your spirit just so it can feed on the energy your'e being robbed of, basically, by the time you have a vampire in you life, your life is a pile of shit and you cant seem to get your act together at any level, because it grew from you, it will always be attached to you, if you die.. it will stay in familiar territories and wait till it meets someone that gives off the same sorts of vibes it feeds on (this is haunting), and away we go on an even worse ride, because the vampire is already developed, there is no process of growth so it just starts feeding all the same things into the mind of it's next victim and hey presto another life turns into a pile of shit.
Any living spirit can create these things, either on purpose, or by accident. A trained Maggi can do it at will, but it should only be done with pure intent and in accordance with the universal laws of analogy.
They are always analogous to different aspects of the element/s they are created from, and the will of the maggi or unsuspecting non initiate that creates them.
I no longer suffer these sorts of critters in my life, nearly 20 years of initiation keeps things tidy that way, and anything I create is under my perfect control, not the otherr way round.
